Meant to be caught
Mandira and Sharanbir had just returned from a stately business dinner at a luxury hotel.
Trisha decided to make eggs for herself and Leela. Ashvin had a squash game with Oz and Chirag in the evening. He had just returned home
Trisha missed the food Mandira cooked. Mandira was a fabulous cook. The kind of cook that would send Aanu's cash register ringing at Ying and Yang
Rao Anna "Konkan-ized" every Punjabi offering in the "Yeh" of Yeh & Yang
Trisha cracked a half dozen eggs open as she let her mind wander
She tried to recollect how the whole Yeh & Yang came about
She missed that steamy kitchen suddenly
Clean but half the size of this apartment's
rao Anna mumbled a what he believed Sanskrit prayer every morning as he chopped up the fish
She wud tease him saying he must not chant when he is cooking what was once a living thing
He would shush her saying "It was God's gift to the coastal people"
"That would be if we were to FISH OURSELF" she would argue
"This came from a fresh fish market" he wud rally back
"But God didnt want us to commercially farm the ocean"
"If they swim fast they wont be caught... if they are caught... then they were meant to be" Rao Anna explained Darwin's theory simply
She stared in awe admiring how he used life examples to breakdown science
"You young people study too much so talk all this philosophy " "Today I will feed you your mother's ginger (alle chutney) with cocnut, ginger
"I am just saying" Trisha would back off giggling, at Rao Anna's googly
The pan fumed... she hit the many buttons on the console, a fan started and roared shocking her
"Ashwinnn" "Ashwinnn" she yelled
"Bus jee, shuru... ghar lautna nahi isne, uska waha shuru... " Mandira mumbled taking off her earrings in the balcony leaning back
Not letting her son know he was wanted, thought she could clearly see him on the phone in the balcony just off his room
Sharanbir waved tried to catch his grandson's attention
"Ashwinnn" Trisha screamed
Ashvin paused his call to listen
"she is calling" Sharanbir formed the words
Ashwin sprinted
"It is not turning off" Trisha was panicking
"No lizard or mouse?" he grinned
"Ashwinnn" she scolded
He hit the rest key on the exhausted halting it... he also hit the "power off" on the stove top
"You are cooking up a storm" he teased
"What is that?" she asked staring at her blackened pan
"Umm.. u love to cook?" he laughed under his breath
"Very funny" she smiled self consciously
"How come you didnt come see me when I came home?"
"i didnt even know you were home" she said haughtily
"Oh?"
She smiled and turned away looking for another pan
"Wait a minute... how did u call my name then?"
"I have to explain everything?" she challenged, hands on her hips, she whirled around and tapped her feet
"I am hoping" he smiled goading her
"Its all very advanced no... I dont know how to shut or start, one thing stops means another thing starts" she said wearily giving the whole stove/chimney a dirty look
"I can send you the user guides you can read up if u like?" he offered kindly
"that means I cant call you?" she was hurt
Her hands slid off her hips shoulders slumping
He approached her
"Oh you can call me" he said inaudibly
"Ashwinnn" she warned
"Thats right... exactly in that tone" his voice quivered as he inhaled her scent
"I smell like eggs no?" she hoped he would lie
"Actually... yes" he nodded
"Your eyes are weak, but your nose is double powerful" she smacked it gently
He laughed hysterically
"U have no idea" he said going for her neck
They fondled each other hungrily
"Not.. kissing" she dodged
"kissing" he opened his mouth on her ear
"You want omelette?" she asked wrapping her arms around his neck
Gently massaging the back of his neck... he yawned and groaned
"With a massage?"
"With massage means it will be more" she whispered looking into his eyes
"How is that love thing going for you?" he whispered on her lips
she gasped as he nibbled her lips.. she tried to shield her flaming cheeks with her not so long lashes...
