I think cinema is growing, and in some ways the audience for cinema is expanding. Because of the ease of availability, people are watching different movies, in different languages which they probably would not have done earlier. Because of all this competition, hopefully filmmakers stop putting out mediocre movies. There is now no need to make big/commercial films so that it releases. Youtube, Netflix, Amazon are ready and willing to stream small/indie/experimental movies. We can hopefully see more variety. It's a wonderful time to be the audience. I have hope from directors like Shakun Batra.
But yes like a few people already said, the way we consume movies is changing. I'm sure BW will figure out a way to generate revenue if the theatre method is not doing so hot. More importantly, I think the star system will begin to die. And it my hope that the trend will be to find an actor that fits a role/script, and not tailor-making a script to fit a "star".
