This post has been inspired by a post made by Geeta on the music library scene. Like her I too think that this scene is quite significant.
Manik asks for guitar strings. Guitar could represent their relationship. When he was upset with Nandu for her lack of trust in him, he played his guitar in anger vigorously and snapped the strings. The snapping of the strings can be likened to the insults and public humiliation he has hurled on her during the past week which may continue during the coming week too. The fact that he came to get replacement strings indicates that he is willing to repair their relationship. So we may get to see the two make up later in the week or early next week.
It is at the moment that he was asking for the strings that Nandu comes there trying to balance the veena and the books and dropping all of them. This to me is symbolic of what is to come. Veena is Manik (symbolic of music which is his life) and the four books are the Fab 4. Like the books, each of them have their own mystery, their own stories, which until someone reads, will remain hidden. Nandu, took it on herself to protect not only Manik (the veena) but also Fab 4 (the books) through her decision to leave for the sake of the album. Had she only thought of Manik (held on to the veena) maybe she would not have dropped them all. My reading is that the abandoned Mangalore trip is going to come up once Manan call truce on the current tiff over her unwise comment. She is going to hurt the delicate veena (Manik) big time then.
Thanks Geeta for the inspiration.
