This is what I gather based on watching some old and new episodes of the show. Alya once told Harshad that he did something disgusting 2 years back after which Fab 5 became very close - all for one and one for all. Manik recently told Nyon that she lost the job of mother two years back. There was also a mention about how Mukti broke up with Harshad after she was told that he was cheating on her. Harshad had mentioned about their past together to Nyon, indicating there was something clandestine between them.
If these things are to be put together, it appears that Manik and Alya caught his mother and her brother in bed together. This must have been shattering for both of them. Once the rest of the Fab5 came to know of it, they decided to stick together against all odds to see them through this. Maybe Mukti took to drugs to deal with it because it would have been pretty shocking for her too, to be sidelined for a much older woman and that too the mother of her best friend.
Harshad may be under the impression that Nyon has a soft corner for him but for Nyon he was just a guy she had a fling with, to be disposed off as she chooses.
Don't know whether my speculation based on the scenes they have shown is right or not. Since they have explored quite a few taboo topics, I wouldn't be surprised if they reveal this to be the dark past.
