Chapter 15 is soo beautifully written. I was not expecting that so it was a great surprise.

BTW - where did he learn to fight like a street thug?

I would also like to see more interaction between Sugni and TVS family.

Chapter 16.

"I hope this works." Sugni said nervously as they waited in the waiting room of Jawal Singh's office. It was almost half and hour after their scheduled appointment. He was making them wait deliberately.

"Don't worry Ms. this is full proof. After today your diner will be free." Dravid answered.

Vickram sat on one of the chairs bouncing his leg in irritation. He hated waiting. Jwala Singh was under the false notion that Sugni was here to accept his deal. My, was he in for a nasty surprise. OH well let him play his little mind games. He smiled to himself.

It was two weeks since they returned, on that same evening the Mr. Dravid contacted them with his plan, and they set things in motion and now here they were.

"You can go in now" The secretary announced. Getting up the three of them made their way into the office.

Jwala took them all in with a look of surprise on his face that he tried to hide under a fake smile.

"Sugni! Good to see you...I see you brought company" he said.

"Oh yes, we would not want to risk the chance of you being attacked again." Vickram interjected, sarcastically,"How's the arm?"

"I.am sorry who are you?" Jwala Asked looking at Dravid and ignoring Vickram.

"This is Mr. Dravid...my lawyer." Sugni said.

"I see yes ..ok... have a seat. " He indicated the two seats opposite him.

"I am sorry Vickram, is it?? I guess you'll have to guard the door."

Sugni glanced at him nervously. He nodded.

"So Sugni, I guess you thought about my offer?" Jwala said.

"Yes and after considering it I have decided to reject it." She said politely.

"Excuse me?" Jwala said looking confused.

"I am not here to accept your offer; actually I am here to repay the loan." She said. She placed a small briefcase he had on the table.

"Cash" She said smugly.

"But I don't understand how this is possible?" He asked.

"Let me explain," Mr. Dravid said. " See according to the terms of the agreement drawn up, Sugni had Up until July 25^th or any date before to repay her loan either by monthly increments or fully within the stipulated time. Well now she has the money to make full payment, there by clearing her diner of all debts...Now if you will accept the payment and draw up a receipt this whole situation can be put to rest." He finished politely.

Jwala Singh looked at the three people in his office; he knew he was backed in a corner. She walked with witnesses and a copy of their agreement. He had no choice but to accept. Reluctantly he drew up a payment in full receipt giving it to Sugni, who handed it to Dravid for safe keeping.

"Ohh one more thing, I will need you to sign here please." Dravid said , handing Jwala another document dated, stated that he did indeed receive full payment from Sugni on this date, as witnessed by Vickram and Dravid and he had no further ties on the property.

"Thank you."

Sugni got up and walked out the door, leaving Jwala sitting there stunned.

"Give me a minute." Vickram said as they were walking out. She looked at him but he told her to waiting the car.

"One more thing...Jwala... after today I don't want to see either you nor you goons any where near that diner, if you want to stay happy. If you do I swear to you, you will regret it, do you understand?" Vickram left, with out waiting for a response.

'You're staring!" Sugni said, looking self conscious "Hello?"

"You look...beautiful!" Vickram said, mesmerized by her. She was wearing an elegant blue gown , her hair done in one of those elaborate styles.Sugni was always a beauty...but tonight all dressed up, she was absolutely breathtaking. And he was having a hard time keeping his eyes off her.

Walking up to where she was standing nervously in the hall way, he put his hands on her shoulders. "Really breathtaking! It suites you!" he said.

"I don't know," She replied. "It feels so...I mean what if I ruin it...you know how clumsy I can be...and I mean m-maybe I should change.." She was getting that cute flustered look again.

"Shhh... you will do no such thing!...and no you are not clumsy...and you won't break my heart by not wearing it would you?" he said givng her a pouty look. "Relax , you look fine., come on lets go be fore the rest of them wonders where we are.. . Shall we madam? " He asked hooking his hand, waiting for her to place hers through his. She laughed as she did and they proceeded outside.

Telling her they needed to celebrate, he decided to take her and the rest of the staff out for a treat. Every one was excitied about it. Then he presented Sugni with this dress which she said she could not take because it looked so expensive, after half an hour arguing the point, Vickram gave up saying fine he was just trying to do something out of love for her but she was rejecting it. It worked as she agreed to wear it.

They arrived at the restaurant he booked half an hour after, seeing that Champa Rattu and Twinkle had already arrived a few minutes before. Sitting at the table chatting. Every one was in a happy mood, but no one seemed more ecstatic than Sugni who spent the evening chatting about her encounter with Jwala Singh and the look on his face when she told him she was going to pay him cash.

"If we have any one to thank for getting us out of this mess , it is Vickram! I couldn't do this with out him .There is no words to tell you thank you! " she said squeezing his hand.

"Here , Here!" Champa said.

"Hey , there is no need , and I was not the only one, you guys deserve thanks as well...for sticking with her, even when she tried to get rid of you..." He said looking at Sugni. "For keeping this place running and not letting him break up this family." He could see now that they were indeed no less than a family. He was glad to know that despite all the threats and pressure they faced, they stuck by her, and the only thing that got them to leave was Sugni herself.

The dinner passed with fun and laughter and lightheartedness all around. Too soon the dinner was over, and they all left for their respective homes as they all had work the next day. But Vikcram was in no mood for the night to end.

"Are you tired?" He asked as they sat in the car.

"No."

Smiling he made his way out of the parking lot...it was a cool clear night and he decided to see what the town had to offer.

"Hey look... a carnival! " Sugni said. "Can we go please! " She asked all the excitement of a 5 year old.

Pulling into the almost full parking space. They went to explore the magic of the carnival. Something he had not been to since he was a Kid. The smell of cotton candy, popcorn and other Carnival foods. The muti coulord tents, clowns walking around.

" Look a Ferris wheel! Come on!" She said pulling his hand...truly like a kid in a candy store. 'It's been years since been on one!'

Paying the admission, they went on the ride.

" I always loved this, you know seeing the world from this height...you know when I was smaller and my mom and I would always come to these, just us...I probly spent most of the time on this...Used to make me fell a hundred feet tall, i would pretend I was this queen and wave to my royal subjects down below!" she laughed recalling the memory.

'I miss her." She said suddenly, a sad smile on her face. "I wish she was here tonight, "

"I am sure she is" he said . "And I am sure she is very proud of you!"

"You think?"

"Of course, I mean who would think we would find a carnival here now, so out of season, reliving a special and happy time you spent with her. So I think she is here, sharing in your happiness." She smiled.

They returned home. Carrying an assortment of stuffed animals, that she managed to win, Sugni surprised him with her aiming skills in the gun shooting games. Being around her , brought out the kid in him and he found himself competing with her on who could win the biggest animal...she won, much to his chagrin and her glee.

Proudly arranging her loot on the couch, she asked; "Want some coffee?"

"Hmm.no" he answered, tuning on the radio to a soft contemporary station, he walked up to her tapping her on the shoulder. He had no desire for this perfect evening to end just yet.

"May I have the pleasure of this dance, madam?' He asked

"Um, sure" She said, her blush was back. Her small living room turning into an impromptu dance floor...

'Did I mention that you look beautiful?" He whispered, holding her close as they gently swayed to the music playing in the back ground.

She nodded. Gazing at him. Vickram bent head , placing a soft kiss on her lips. They spent a while dancing until his eye caught the clock that declared it to be late, knowing she had to get up at 4:30 AM. Reluctantly he released her, as she looked at him confused.

Cressing her cheeks he said, " as much as I hate to it's late and you need some shut eye if you;re going to work in the morning! So better we call it a night"

Moving away to turn off the radio, and the light, he found her standing right where he left her. Taking her hand they walked of in the direction of their respective rooms. Stopping at her door, he started to release her hand, but she stopped him keeping their hands entwined. It was his turn to look confused.

"I don't want it to end" She said so softly, he thought he was hearing things.

"hmmm?"

"Tonight...I don't want it to end." She was staring at the floor her face flushed.

"Sugni?" He was wondering what she was thinking, judging by her actions he had an idea.

"I think...I am r-ready" she stammered, shocking him. He blinked a couple of times. Wow. As tempting as this was, he did not think she was.

Placing his hand under her chin, he lifted her face to look at him.

" Sugni,. I love you but honey, I told you there is no pressure, and there is no rush. And if for some reason you think…, if for some reason you think that that is the case here ...Please don't!" He said, he knew she felt he did her a big favor by getting her out of her debt, and the thought that she was doing this because she felt obligated to him in some way , did not sit well with him.

"No! I don't!" She said, taking a deep breath she closed the distance between them, as she hugged him.

"I love you. You know for the first time in a very long time, I feel happy, and I mean happy from my heart. Tonight was perfect, and that is because we were together. I don't want to be any where else but with you." Pulling back she looked at him, her eyes testifying to what she was saying.

"I am ready." She repeated staring at him. Stunned Vickram just looked at her, processing what she just said.. After waiting for what seemed a long time, she closed her eyes , obviously embarrassed .

Taking his silence as rejection

"Oh God...I' am sorry" She said turning hurriedly towards her door., wringing her hands from his.

Keeping hold of her hands, he stopped her

Hugging her...

"I love you Sugni...so much" ... he said holding her close.
