More than any character real or reel the prime reason of low trps is the crappy storyline, where you will find a so called couple who in their 50s are bullied by their mothers, kids and every tom dick and harry. Sulochana although cares about Archana but she had her tied to her little finger and don't get me started on Savita's aaigiri on Manav, both poor souls are shit scared of their mothers, there is too much control both over Manav as well as Archana, by their mothers, kids and also from their rotten and self destructed sanskaars- who wants to see such meek characters, barring some few and far instances of bravado their characters continue to be stagnated since the time when the show started. No disrespect to any actor of the show everybody has his or her favourite, but all of them have doneand doing their job damn well.
