see I would give khurram somewhat of a pass because he was an outsider who just heard her stories and her experiences and being rather selfish, just grew tired of her tears. in a way that is understandable -- there is only so much loop repeat sob stories one can hear before you tune out. unless someone is super empathetic, most people stop listening to sob stories after a while.
that is why marketing based on sob stories for NGOs stop hitting the mark -- people become insensitive and don't care. same with news stories about long conflicts in some regions -- initially people are intersted and afterwards, it just becomes one more news playing out somewhere far away. they tune out and forget. that is human nature. so at least with khurram, I totally understood his reasoning on why he felt that his relationship with hala wasn't really a relationshp at all and how he felt insecure with his cousin and so didn't want her either.
who I don't get -- hamza, the hero of this sob story. 🤷 the guy is not an outsider. all the stuff was happening in his house and by his own family members. not outsiders but his own parents. lets say he was abroad a good chunk of time and wasn't paying attention when he was a child. but even that argument is hard to swallow because children are not dumb.
but hello, what happened to him when he came home? was he so blind that he couldn't see what was happening? even in the last scene, nafees and maryam are spitting mad because shahjahan has outlined her intentions in front of them and still he says "don't speak about my mom" and refuses to believe them -- dude, seriously?! 🤦.
I get they want to drag this story out but hamza is not interesting to me as a character at all. at least, if they were showing that he is someone who is aware but does not want to counter his mom, that would be more realistic. no, they show him as someone who totally believes his mom while living in the same house and witnessing the shoddy treatment that hala gets. it is like they want him as a hero who saves the princess but also a super obedient son who is very nice. in this story, you can't have it both ways because shahjahan was so abusive earlier. it has to be one or the either which is why this romance doesn't work for me. 🤷
but ofcourse, magically shahjahan will hit her head and become nice in the end or something ridiculous 😉-- am not expecting anything realistic or innovative with this drama really....
