Naagin 5 - A Not-so Short Take 2

Hello people, I am back yet again with a take of the Sunday night which transpired. And mind you I have a long list of complaints, but it will be a not too short take because the episode had nothing much to offer. Infact, I feel that this show is very inconsistent when it comes to episodes. Okay, so please put up with this take, because main woh ranting Naagin ho jiska kaata paani bhi nahi maangta🤣Just kidding!

Highlight No 1 - Horrendous Inconsistency😳

I mean I don't know about other Naagin seasons guys, but this season in my opinion is the baap of inconsistency. I mean one episode shows promising progress, the next episode regresses back to the same ludo corner it started from. I mean what is the problem? Why so much digression? Arre stick to the point. If Bani has developed a soft corner for her husband, stick to it, show her silent internal struggle. If Veeranshu has realized his love, fair enough, but why take away Cheel Rajkumar's edge. He is a sharp man, so maintain it that way. Don't digress so much with the two main leads, both need to individually progress as characters, but both seem to be oscillating from one end to another. Please makers, when you progress with a character, hold that progress, don't regress back. And not just main leads, even the Cheels need some shades, can we see that?? If after 3 months, you regress, it becomes very difficult to root for the show or characters.

Highlight No 2 - Mindless Comedy

I am sorry, but I am not sure about others, but I did not enjoy the Tom and Jerry equation of Veeranshu and Jai. At least, they can maintain the dignity of Cheel Rajkumar and Adi Nag and not reduce them to a laughing stocking fighting over Adi Naagin. I mean, puhlease, even in daily dramas two girls fighting over one man is still bearable, but this was just too much. They are supernatural creatures, not normal humans. Can you maintain that edge? Jai is already engaging in comic villainy, and now Veeranshu too. I would like to see Veeranshu retain his savagery and sharpness, and Jai stick to his comic villainy. I don't want that to mix up. Veeranshu's one-liners are his USP, and Jai being the ichchadhaari mendhak is his USP.

Highlight No 3 - Baseless Revenge

Okay, so I think and everyone here feels that when we talk of "Naagin ka Inteqaam", it should feel like one as well. But the problem here is, none of the seasons showed that Naagin was engaged with any preaching and morality, because revenge and justice are two different things. Yes, the earlier Naagins never resorted to hurting the innocent, but this revenge and justice combo just bounces off my head.🤪 It's like Bani is an odd mix of Maya Jaisingh (Beyhadh 2) and Durga Thakur (Ek Hasina Thi), with all the faults and no qualities. Both Maya and Durga, co-incidentally names of Adi Shakti, had revenge and justice in their minds respectively. But both of them did a good job out of it. Durga was a preacher and a planner, a hunter, and a savior. She had light. Her rage was her strength. Maya was a killer, an illusion, a mystery, huntress, deranged, psychotic. She was someone who would have tears in her eyes and throttle her enemies. But Bani is nowhere. Like she leans towards none of it. Neither she has the madness of Maya, nor she is the planner Durga. She neither murders with passion, and neither does justice like Durga. I am confused as to where is she? What has she done Adi Naagin worthy that she has been made one? I mean kuch ek banao usko. Ya to Maya banao, jo psycho thi, who wanted revenge with the Roy family yet she never let that come in between her love for Rudra, whose innocence she firmly believed in and embraced his love wholeheartedly, so much that she gave up her intention to kill him. Or make her a Durga, who did not succumb to Dev's love easily, whose sense of justice to nail her sisters' rapists was so strong, that she punished each and every one by isolating, targeting, and putting them in their place. And most importantly, this is a supernatural show, at least maintain that quotient. Cheel killing with a gun, Naagin drowning Cheel in the bathtub. What the hell dude???

Observations:

Today, I am impressed with Meera. She pulled off "Naagin gin gin" so well. I am all applauds for her. The way she trapped Monil was good. Although that was Bani, but still I will take that as Meera. 👏I love hottie Meera.🤗

Bani me kitne bhi issues kyun na ho, she is fun as the ultimate boss lady of the house😆. Like really. First, she threatened Balwant, "Aapki bahu zaroor hu, par Adi Naagin bhi hu", aur Ballu ki bolti band.🤣 Then Navratri ke time pe sattvik bhojan😆. Waise kehte hai khaane ka temperament pe asar hota hai. Kahin sattvik aur phalaahar khilate khilate rakshaso ko devta na bana de ya Naagin😆. Kyunki frankly, iska bachane ka kaam solid hota hai, lekin maarna to isse thenga hota hai.👎🏼 I want to see this enmity equation explored further like there is fun in this open war, yet ajeeb sa underlying comedy to it.

This isn't typically an observation, but these makers need to individualize the lead pair. I mean this is not an ordinary daily soap right, jahaan heroine ki life revolves only around the hero and vice versa. Veeranshu is a Cheel Rajkumar and Bani is Adi Naagin. Life is definitely not fun and games for them. Every day someone new crops up to target them, and still these hardly have done any duties towards their clans. Veeranshu is surely lovesick, and Bani is hatesick, but this is making me sick now. Arre kuch aur bhi dikhao. Characters ko develop karo.

Bani is on her high horse of being "Sarvashresth Adi Naagin", but does nothing to justify it. She used to talk to snakes once upon a time, and now snakes are getting blasted by landmines. Where is the sense of solidarity Adi Naagin? I mean Cheel are jhund shikaris, but majaal hai koi ek dusre ka saath chodke dikhade. Kaminapan aur leechrami to dekha, lekin bonding, and unity bhi dekhti. Dushmani me bhi ek sharafat hoti hai, woh to maintain karti. Dushman se bhi kuch seekh sakhte hai, ye to sochti. No wonder ye zameen pe rengte hai, aur Cheel aasmaano pe raj karte hai. Also, lambi lambi bhi kam pheka karo na didi. Maana ki tumko darr kisi se nahi lagta, lekin uss ghar pe tum apne pati ke kaaran bachi huyi ho. Pati gul, to tumhaare saath khooni khel chalu.

Veeranshu surely needs to be the objective and sharp Cheel amongst these two camps that are ready to pounce on each other at any given moment. Cause jokes apart, Veeranshu is the only one having brains in this entire house. Dushmano ko ek ghar me laake to khada kar diya, lekin inhi dushmano ko ek saath milke rehna bhi sikhana padega. These two are after each other's throats, and Veeranshu has a lot of firefighting coming his way. Don't have too high hopes in Bani but surely do from him. It's like keeping vampires and werewolves in the same house and both cannot stand each other. All the best Veeranshu👍🏼

Abbe ye Markaat hai, ya Hitler ki daadi. Isse to ye saale Cheel bhi darte hai. Do they know she is a woman? Isiliye control haath se chutne ki baat kar rahe the? Khair, Balwant bhaiyya, ek museebat ghar me already hai,ek aur ko bulaawa mat do. Shaktiyon ke saath saath pran pakheru bhi udd jayenge tumhari Cheel body se.

I am sorry, but pata nahi kyun mujhko lagta hai ki ye dono camps ek din ek saath ladenge. Jis Veerashu ke wajah se ye ek dusre ka gala nahi daboch rahe, ek din ussi Veeranshu ke liye hi mil ke ladenge. Although, aasaar kam hai, lekin story to Bholenath like rahe hai, aur unka to funda hi alag hai. Do dushman ki shaadi karwa di, to ye karne me bhi jhijkenge nahi. Hope for the best.

Last but not the least, Bani did not kill Monil. She left before that. Precap it seemed she was defending herself, not declaring that she killed him. Infact, I believe it was Jai who did the deed. And since Monil was tied by that abhimantrit dhaaga, he saw who killed him. So it could be Jai gets exposed. Also, these Cheels will not spare Bani. She hurt their son, they will hurt her family. Going by Utkarsh's BTS, Meera and Mehek were in the Cheel mansion, so if they hurt her sisters, baat sirf badhegi aur kuch nahi. Let's see kya hota hai.

this has been way too inconsistent. it's all over the place and very confusing. she's melting in one scene, cold on the other. ice cream hai kya? and is the environment a fridge or something? jungle pe she melts, ghar pe she freezes. mazaak chal raha hai kya bhai? geez i'm actually so annoyed now. they can't figure out what's going on at this point and it seems like they're just throwing stuff out at us.

i low key had fun with it at the moment but abhi it's like what even was that. did you really waste time on a tom and jerry fight when you could've shown a vani moment? and seeing both of them fight for her when one clearly wants to kill her was off, plus she's married to veer. it's like she keeps forgetting she's married to him. she'll see the mangalsutra but then forget two seconds later about her husband.

i really like this comparison, she is weirdly an odd mix of the two of them. bani leans towards none but she realistically also doesn't have a revenge here. it feels like there's no revenge and we need that to root for her. also yeah it's weird how they're not using their powers to kill them i'm like dude dass le na monil ko aur khatam kardo, why are you spending so much time and effort to kill the guy. can't talk to veer and ask him if he's okay, but you can spend some time tying this guy up oh god.

these cheels are definitely solid and very together, the naagin's are lacking this season. everyone's scared of maarkat, let's see how this goes. i wonder if they know she's a woman, would be interesting if they don't. i'm overall disappointed this morning after sleeping on it, uff the episode was weird. this weekend was weird. they had it going good after sharad's entry the week before last on sunday. then they killed it saturday and brought it back sunday. this week was a mess. they really need to build up and not go back and forth cause it's insanely confusing and doesn't make it worth to watch.

You have summarized most of our rants for Sunday’s episode.😆 Couldn’t agree more to your points. It’s been a chaotic episode with inconsistencies in characters. I love the way you suggested that makers should keep the essence in the characters once they progressed it. Don’t take that out in another episode because the connection gets easily loose there. Let Bani’s internal feelings for Veer fights off with her inner demons of hate. That’s how things would make sense and it will spice up their relationship too. We know Bani feels for Veer, it was clear from Saturday’s episode. Then, Sunday it was all gone like she never really cared for her emotions. Jay stabbed Veer, but she expressed no resentments there. She kicked him out of the room without giving a look to his wound. 😒

Now coming back to Veer. He was the only sensible character up until Sunday. What has got to him all of a sudden? Akesh janne ki itni khusi hai ke Veer banna Bhool Gaya? What was his skittish behavior with Jay? “Main tujhe parh ke rakh don ga” He used to tell Bani how he would kill Jay and won’t even feel bad about it. Now, they are fighting for Bani? Jo jitaa who sikandar game Chal raha tha kiya? I thought from yesterday’s incident, Veer would question about the sudden blast on the pahari where Bani took him and they encountered serpents. I thought there would be heart to heart conversation between VaNi regarding the plane crash and they would probably expand their discussion to their private affairs regarding their satyug connection. Veer realizing why Bani detested him so much. He would try to reconcile the differences. But expectations always lead to disappointments.

i read somewhere on Twitter that Bani announced she would kill cheels while they were having breakfast and Veer didn’t utter a single word? Why not?? Even if Bani is right, Veer need to man up and ask her why would she do that. Firmly ask her to provide him with legit reasoning before she dared to do that. Bani needs to let him know what his family is doing behind his back. Let vani deal with this conflict and resolve it. Doesn’t matter if they fight or tear each other apart. They need to sustain the growth which was there on Saturday’s episode then it all went down the drain on Sunday.

And you are right khoon ke badlee khoon. She or Jay killed Monil, does she think cheels won’t revert back at her? Even if she didn’t kill Monil and Jay is the real culprit, is she going to take the entire blame on her because even then Jay’s safety is her only priority? Jay ka bhooot utaaroo koi. Uske chakkar main even Veer is losing his brain cells.

Just freaking leave Bani. Let her do her business, but don’t let her take a stand over your head. Veer had the perfect blend of attitude even when he was passionately in love with her back then, he wouldn’t take any of her shit. He won’t disrespect her, but he would know how to put her back to her place. Fierce Bani and Sassy Veer needs to stay equal to each other because that was the initial charm of the whole Cheel-Naagin story! No compromise is acceptable.

I found it extremely juvenile. Ek to situation itna tense tha, do jaani dushman ek chhat ke neeche, aur in dono ko taana kassi me engage karne ka mann aur time milta kaise hai?

Bani is such a mess. Ya to Durga ki tarah dikhao, ya phir Maya ki tarah dikhao, ya dono ko milaake dikhao, lekin she is an oddball who is a combination of all the faulty parts of Durga and Maya.

I can tolerate Meera as a grey character as long as she is with Bani and not against her. There are enough villains already.

Exactly, teamwork kise kehte hai inse seekho. These people need direction. But Veeranshu and Bani are so self-involved, ye sirf manmaani karte hai aur kuch nahi. Like brothers have turned into rapists, and Veeranshu has zero clue about this. It is atrocious. They engage in trafficking, and Veeranshu has no clue about that either. I think, iss Bani aur Veeranshu ko jab tak personal jhatke nahi milte, ye log line pe nahi aayenge aur apne duties ko seriously nahi lenge. They really need to take ownership of their clans. Bani for Jai, and Veeranshu for family. Talwaar kisi pe bhi chale to woh talwaar ka dosh nahi, talwaar chalane waale ka dosh hota hai. Veeranshu and Bani are practically royalty, they represent their clans, their clan's actions mean the leaders actions. God knows when they will understand.

bani is a mess, she needs someone leading her or guiding her. veer and bani are indeed very self involved. it’s all about them and what they want 24/7. please look around, bani needs to see veer, veer needs to see everything else around him and not just bani. i hope that they’re working together against jay behind the scenes but bharosa nahi hai makers par so i doubt it. they need to get these jhatkas for sure, both of them need to break down before they rise it seems. bani has risen, but at the worst time and it’s weird when he remembers satyug, she’s the one doing her revenge. itne dino se kar kya rahi thi? both are a mess and now these new characters will also add to the mess. raita already phel chuki hai.

Bani is back to her bakwass and am back to hate her...

Man plzzz make her stick to one point about Veer...her oscillation of feelings is making me hate her... no consistency at all. What kind of Naagin she is...she is 2 proud of her position ..

What happend to Veeranshu?? Fighting like kid plzz for 1 episode it ok...hope he 'll be back.. No one including Veer doesnt worry about he being stabbed... For once Bani didn't question Jay y he took her form ??

Am not ok with his blind love for Bani as he said "sab maaf hai" for Bani... he is being Akesh for Bani... she is openly challenging him..he didn't take stand..is out of his character...

But he shouldn't slip away as Veer... one thing is that he don't care about anyone other than Bani...

Jay yaar...till he is exposed nothing is gonna change...

Yes...Am sure that Bani is not the one who killed Monil...that will be looser dhabelwala....

We know Bani feels for Veer, it was clear from Saturday’s episode. Then, Sunday it was all gone like she never really cared for her emotions. Jay stabbed Veer, but she expressed no resentments there. She kicked him out of the room without giving a look to his wound. 😒

Exactly, progression goes moot. Progression hua hai, to waha stick karo. Hum jab ludo khelte hai, to peeche nahi jaate na, aage jaate hai. To jab aage bad gaye, to wohi pe rakho, phir aage bado. Why does it go from "Main Veer ko nahi marungi", to "Satyug ka kiya phir dauhraungi", ye kya logic hai be???🤪
Now coming back to Veer. He was the only sensible character up until Sunday. What has got to him all of a sudden? Akesh janne ki itni khusi hai ke Veer banna Bhool Gaya? What was his skittish behavior with Jay? “Main tujhe parh ke rakh don ga” He used to tell Bani how he would kill Jay and won’t even feel bad about it. Now, they are fighting for Bani? Jo jitaa who sikandar game Chal raha tha kiya? I thought from yesterday’s incident, Veer would question about the sudden blast on the pahari where Bani took him and they encountered serpents. I thought there would be heart to heart conversation between VaNi regarding the plane crash and they would probably expand their discussion to their private affairs regarding their satyug connection. Veer realizing why Bani detested him so much. He would try to reconcile the differences. But expectations always lead to disappointments.

I guess inn logo ne pada ki hum log Veeranshu se bahut pyaar karte hai, isiliye usko bhi neeche gira diya taki Bani se match kar sake, lekin jo bhi karlo, Bani se pyaar karna to dur ki baat, uske saath connect bhi audience kar paaye na to bahut badi baat hogi.
i read somewhere on Twitter that Bani announced she would kill cheels while they were having breakfast and Veer didn’t utter a single word? Why not?? Even if Bani is right, Veer need to man up and ask her why would she do that. Firmly ask her to provide him with legit reasoning before she dared to do that. Bani needs to let him know what his family is doing behind his back. Let vani deal with this conflict and resolve it. Doesn’t matter if they fight or tear each other apart. They need to sustain the growth which was there on Saturday’s episode then it all went down the drain on Sunday.
I don't know, lekin Bani ke bahut attitude issues hai, jo woh thok ke bhav pe phekti hai sab par, aur issliye, I don't like her character at all. I prefer Veeranshu over Bani any damn day.
And you are right khoon ke badlee khoon. She or Jay killed Monil, does she think cheels won’t revert back at her? Even if she didn’t kill Monil and Jay is the real culprit, is she going to take the entire blame on her because even then Jay’s safety is her only priority? Jay ka bhooot utaaroo koi. Uske chakkar main even Veer is losing his brain cells.
Exactly, Bani apne ilawa kuch nahi sochti. She is so short-sighted. Uss dobi aurat ne Meera ka roop liya, agar unn logo ne Meera ko target kiya tab kya karegi? Beta mara unka, to woh kya waha maiyyat sajake rone baithenge, ulta uske khandaan ka kriyakarm karke aa jayenge. Kuch to sochti ye karne se pehle. Har baat pe impulse, har baat me hadbadi. What is wrong with her? Kya kisi aur ka roop nahi le sakti thi, thoda aur planning nahi kar sakti thi. And ye "Naagin ka badla" itna late ho raha hai ki I actually don't care she kills anyone or not. Infact, I will feel bad for anyone but her.

Just freaking leave Bani. Let her do her business, but don’t let her take a stand over your head. Veer had the perfect blend of attitude even when he was passionately in love with her back then, he wouldn’t take any of her shit. He won’t disrespect her, but he would know how to put her back to her place. Fierce Bani and Sassy Veer needs to stay equal to each other because that was the initial charm of the whole Cheel-Naagin story! No compromise is acceptable.

Also, there is a whole undercover story behind Veer’s reckless behavior with his dad on many occasions. He never takes his words seriously. Why aren’t makers providing some insights there?

Veer is a family person. He takes his clan seriously. It doesn’t matter what his dad has done to his mother, why is she chained for so many years? Maybe there could a major misunderstanding from Balwants side or even he got manipulated by markaat which could lead to a separation between Veer’s parents. Who knows. At the current state of situation, Veer has only known his family... Balwant, his Chachu and cheel brothers.. which he dearly love. But he doesn’t pamper them for wrong reasons. Veer will penalize them for their crimes. But he doesn’t know any of the hideous misdeeds his family have been doing. So he is totally blank there without zero proof. At that point of time, Veer should not let Bani kill off his family so easily. So why he is so chill about it is what concerns me. Bani can’t just say because I am adhi naagin and I have taken the oath to kill you all this janam so I will. Lame excuse that will be and for Veer to let this slip away.

He even arranged the maya jaal, and went further by playing the flute to see whether Bani changes to naagin form. He was so close getting to know the truth. I need to see him doing the same thing. Saari bhadaas nikal di tumne iss post mein. Honestly, I can't connect with Bani's character because of her oscillating between growing a soft corner for Veeranshu & still not being able to exclude him from her target list. Usko ab bhi lagta hai ki Veer farebi hai, iss Andhi Naagin se bachao koi hum sabko ! She's one impulsive & arrogant Naagin as of now. Adi ya Sarvashreshth jaise koi qualities hai hi nahi. She also made it clear that she trusts Jai more than Veer. I want to see Veer maintaining the essence of his character, because the other characters are hopeless to be honest. Great review Sohini, I agree with you. Bani is a horrible mess. The less said about Jai, the better. All hopes are pinned on Veeranshu, he's a supernatural creature for God's sake, he can do so much better than indulging in petty fights with Jai. And one thing just bounced off my head - Veer got stabbed, and not for once Bani thought about asking him if he's okay ?! No private conversation between VAni after Veer recollected his past, and Jai casually comes to stay in the Cheel mansion & Bani takes his side ? Is she even taking her marriage seriously ? Yesterday's episode was so disappointing yaar, jitna bhi bolun kam hoga.

I am sure he won't let this go easily, and he will prove his point as well. He may not let anyone harm Bani, but he cannot stop them from harming Bani's family. And Bani ko bhi pata chalna chahiye, bina soche samjhe liye actions ke consequences usko hi bhugatna padega, Veeranshu isse usko protect nahi kar payega.
