As for Jai Ho.....the sudden dancing in the end was actually a a big drawing for the goras who though did not understand the significance of it, until someone decided to press "ON" to their respective tubelights.
The reasoning was that it was the celebration of life.......that even after having gone through all this, people in India celebrate their lives!
Atleast that is what NY times hailed.......phrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
The choreography, well maybe it was deliberatley shoddy, not to make it look too rehearsed to bring the spontaneity factor.....just a thought, I could be wrong......though that would kill me....😉😆😉
ahh just kidding girl! Cheers!

Dilli 6 was amazing....other than the story and everything..the way it has been shot is just incredible....that song Dl gira Dafatan...it was wow.....

And Meryl Streep...............loved to hate her in Devil .... the attitude and everything...how could she not win an oscar😡

Jai Ho...celebration of life...and NY times said it??? how can they get meaning out of the most meaningless of things??? it was a really good song...but...i suppose the dude who rote that piece had never seen a bollywood song and dance sequence...or a bollywood song generally....maybe we should make him watch dilli 6....masakali...dafatan ....genda phool.....

and btw what is this american fascination with frieda pinto? she didnt have had much of a presence in the film and her acting was mediocre at best......is it because she is form the east and that exotic element is making her so popular or what? 😕

After I saw the movie, I told a friend that I'll bang my bang if it wins the Oscars. 😆 My head is still aching... 😆 As Nupur said, presentation style is perfect and unique... but content cliched. I loved the way the story was told but what was told did not make much an impression.

I read somewhere, they forgot to give due credit to the choreographer. The protagonists (Patel and Pinto) were not that great, according to me. And, they have been hogging all the limelight, and Miss. Pinto has bagged a Woody Allen project now.

I am not sure when it won the Oscar for best movie, I loved Crash. Though again the same cliched content but said in a different style. 😊 May be, I should judge the western audience with the same yardstick. 😊

A Woody Allen project???😲😲😲 i didnt know that....Penelope Cruz won an oscar for her performance in a woody allen project and Frieda pinto.......no offence to her fans but i wasnt exactly bowled over by her perforamance and dont understand y she's so popular all of the sudden unless its the whole west being fascinated with the east thing...

and i dont remember the year either but Crash won the oscars by beating Brokeback Mountain...everyone was gung-ho over brokeback..that its a shoo in and it won all the awards except the big one..........i was expecting the same to happen with slumdog as well but that didnt happen

Ok here is awesome piece of conversation I had with a gora guy....who was droooling big time on Freida.......
He would bed her not wed her.....!!!! Grrgh
In short she is exotic and all that...but hey not good enough for goras to marry....
You see many goras going out with Chinki girls coz it's cool but Indians are still not cool enuf....disgusting i tell you!!!

Sorry to but in girls.

MY heart broke when Meryl lost. Arrey when will she win her next? She was so good in Doubt and I adored her in Mamma Mia.

As for DWP, she just rules it - left, right and center.

You dont know how glad I am to read all your opinions about Slumdog ...........
I wasn't impresses by it either ......
Of course .......... No doubt Rahman Resul & Gulzar are worthy winners ......... period !!!!!!!!
Continuing the talk about the almost sensational depiction of poverty, suffering etc in movies that win critical acclaim .......
Some days back I read a letter to the editor ...... the reader had mentioned ........
" If a photograph of a beautiful flower in bloom or a golden sunrise is published ... it wont merit a second glance ........ but if a photo of a emaciated woman breast feeeding a equally emaciated child is published .... it is declared the "photo of the year" and the photographer wins awards for this ............."
He called this peddling the 'poverty po*n' ......
Unfortunately ........ there is so much truth in this ..........

About awards .........
On a lighter vein ........
An art gallery sells a painting for a millon bucks ........... the gushing reporter asks artist.... "How do you feel" ? !!!!
The artist replies, ...... "I feel just what the winning horse feels when the jockey walks away with the trophy "

Well, not talking about the awards or critical acclaim, but I have started to feel ... the emaciated child and her mother need more attention and promotion so that they can survive and also to make us ensure that they get a better life. Happiness and rich will thrive and do not require more attention than what they already receive and get.

I wanted to write more... but still thinking... 😊 just my POV.

Both Frieda and Dev were mediocre in the movie. But, the girl has promoted herself very well, and even dumped her fiance 😉. On a serious note, the girl is focused and knows exactly what she wants... her attitude will take her very far, about her acting skills... I have some serious doubt. 😊 But, we never know.

Arre nahi Nups.. not at all.. just dint want to put a spoke in the healthy discussion. 😃 Still havent watched it, still want to. I was the one egging every one on when the music was launched. But still havent had time to catch the movie.
@Dawn- Am watching Slumdog today (on my comp 😉) Rahman, Resul and Gulzar, yes, amazing honors for India.. not ARR's best work, but he deserved an Academy Award since very long, that man is a living legend. I rate him the best musician in the world. I was ecstatic the day the Awards were announced.
