Frankly I didn't much care for the film. I felt it was sensationalising poverty and the film itself was a poverty tourism film.
Yes such poor kids exist, there is no doubt about that. Some parents try hard to give their offspring a good start and there are those who are indifferent.
In our school, we have plenty of children who come from the slums, but their parents are trying to give them education. Indians are generous when they hear a sad story about a child. Money comes for the poor ones provided they come to school and educate themselves. We as teachers do our best to give our little ones the best, feed them if they are hungry and clothe them if they have no money to buy clothes(through funds donated and often thro our pockets too). If I ask on this forum, please donate, each one will donate and not look away. But that will be the bright side of India. Who wants to see that?
Let's have Slumdog instead. Besides who am I to criticise someone's "creativity" ?
Stories of child abuse are existent all over the world. What goes on in poor countries is always highlighted. Oh the poor .........
Rather than dwell on the curses of society, why not dwell on the goodness that exists and go forward? You'll find thousands following you.......
