Their problems are real and even the strained relationships are real ... the show is as close to reality as you can get! And yet, it is not overtly preachy ...

@bold: Well said, LadyM👏👏 That is exactly why I really admire that show....even more so in comparison to the hollow fluffball characterizations of shows on Star One currently.

LOL according to the philosophies of these shows, it sure does😉😆😆.....but I disagree....and aren't you lucky Reemz that the love and bonding b/w the sisters hasn't lessened atleast??😛😆

@bold- I disagree with that point... I mean yeah if you compare it to the importance that the parents have gotten in this show then yes sister bonding is great.. But it is worse than what the sisterly bond started out with. These days all we see is MN and SG staring at each other romancing and thinking constantly of each other. Nupur once in a while realizes her duty as an older sister but not ONCE have I seen Gunjan show the slightest concern about Nupur.
I'll post my comments on the topic... in the next post.
On the side note, Reemu, I am loving you SD siggy... where is it from?

I think the reason why parents are missing in action both on DMG and MJHT is that the creatives assume youth show viewers dislike parental intervention in real life, and wouldn't want to see their favourite characters' parents meddling everywhere - whether in a positive or negative manner. To give their viewers a sense of 'freedom' from their real lives, the creatives push parents to the background in the show. That's why even the bonding scenes are reduced to being shown once in a while. It's quite a stupid logic if you ask me, but I think that's one of the reasons why grown ups aren't prominent figures in the lives of their children on those two shows.

@bold: BINGO yaar, Sarah! VERY well said!👏👏👏....I've had the exact feeling as well....that this is some twisted logic at play here that since these are 'youth' shows and everyone wants to escape the meddling of their parents, this provides some kind of idealistic fluffball alternate universe😆.....No one's saying that fictions shows should be all hardcore reality...but to try and pass these characters off as two-dimnesional cardboard caricatures with no purpose in life but romance and buffoonery is something I'm definitely not able to digest😕😕

Like you said, it's the stupidest possible logic!😆

There CAN be a balance! There WAS at one point....I could cry with frustration at how much potential the Shashank-Riddhima or the Shashank-Anjali relationship had IF the characters had been given the opportunity to develop.....and in MJHT....the Mayank-Maa relationship.....one of my FAV things that kept me hooked to this show for so long....there was scope for a truly unique relationship to be showcased where alongside all the hasi-mazaak, the teasing etc, there was scope for depth.....Two scenes which will always stay with me for the fact that they were those RARE scenes where Mayank-Maa went beyond the fluffy goofing around....and one could sense layers to them...which were unfortunately never explored thereafter :S......

This scene:

And this scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GSYkosKkkc&feature=related

Two things memorable about this....the ONLY time I can remember MN realizing that they have something in common....fav. flavor of ice-cream....LOL....and the Mayank-Maa scene towards the end of this vid....again something beyond the usual fluffy stuff.

@Kavya: Thanks yaar! :-) Exactly.....the perception of the youth that they are showing through these shows is totally off the mark....no one expects 100% realism but please don't insult the intelligence of the viewers so much also....Parents aren't like some piece of furniture lying around the house.....yet that is the only sense one would get if they watched these shows.

@Bini: Exactly! Just cuz this is a 'youth' show, why is it expected that parents don't figure in the scheme of things??? Are parents only reserved for family dramas??? LOL....kya baat hai....so the 'youth' of today aren't allowed to have parents and even if they do, they don't bother thinking about them other than once every 4 months?? hahahaha....Jiyo 'creatives'! *rolls eyes*

You've given an excellent example about Armaan in JJKN!

@Komalash: Thanks! :-)

@Naima: Well said! Exactly....you've covered all the points....Sam's in jail and his parents are nowhere in the picture....instead it's his 'detective' gang of friends out to save him....what kind of parents don't even bother that their son is in JAIL??? LOL.....atleast Armaan's dad sent a lawyer to bail him out when he was in jail....haha

And yes, M-maa have stagnated now to only be shown in repetitive teasing scenes where she's always teasing him about Nupur or touching his hair....the scenes aren't as well developed anymore.

As for Dia and Uday's Dad....LMAO....biggest mystery as to WHEN he ever comes back to his OWN house! hahaha

@Manali: ROFL...I know yaar...."Pyaaaaaar" ne life ko aisa ghera hua hai ki parents jaise aapu jhaapu logon ke liye thodi na time hoga....*rolls eyes"

And the hug was soooooo sweet! Mayank's care and concern for her....for how tired she was after work....such a sweet scene....oh those were the days....*heavy sigh*
