OMG this thread! 🤣 Post itself too funny and then - all the reactions! (The walrus post should be required reading for the CVs!)

Okay - but the part that stuck with me was the description of Pawar. He is, as you say, a Bakhtinian work of art. Or maybe, for the eponymous thrill of the thread - a Foucauldian example of praxis gone amok. If he goes completely silent, we could in fact write a Geertzian treatise on how his performance echoes the many traditions of Noh theatre with generous lashings of folkloric fool's wisdom.

But I would rather think this whole show is just a cry from the heart of some social commentator - modern society as sham - doctors who can't tie bandages, police who can't find enormous criminals standing in front of them with even more enormous knives, actors who never act, wives and husbands trapped on either side of huge pillow rekhas - the supreme irony is that the only social competence in the entire cast comes from Bittuji. From the social theory point of view, he may be the brave new paradigm we all await so desperately.

Or maybe it's just the shirts getting to me. Only time would tell.

Bittu is the male/female dom/sub protagonist/antagonist: blurring of all binaries, polarities and homogeneity. He is pomo polyphony in a lace shirt! He is tomorrow!

Seriously this post was like inhaling laughing gas. FQ Did you know that ? I only wonder how Syl resisted that and started yet another round of walrus-gas. Do you know, how that hurts ? Effectively ...this thread made me log-off and finish one of the most laborious and boring task that I had been putting off for a while. Got lot of work done yesterday. Thanks for that.

Bhakti is too good. She just comes late.

And I guess the regulars either were watching the repeats yesterday or may have got busy with Navraten related holiday tasks... Whatever they missed one of the best posts from a very long time.
