Excellent days work! More later today! And perhaps we should become critics to give the production houses a short sharp shock!

Sorry guys didn't read everything so don't know if this has already been mentioned or not...

@SG... I want to send u a virtual hug. I've been here so many months and u r the first person who is asking my name. 😛 Thanks a lot for caring enough. ⭐️ I don't mind being called PGM. Let's continue with that for sometime now shall we?

I wish that sony would start with Mahi vey and rishta.com again ... I really enjoyed them. Sigh!! Even kismat starring viraf patel had some amazing acting to show case. That serial was based on Jeffrey archers Kane and Abel. And I don't say this very often, but the Indian adaptation was quite impressive 👏

I don't know how many young girls are reading this thread. I mean those girls who go all faint when a hero pushes a girl against a wall and grabs her shoulder so tight that she winced... Welll I wanted to say that those men in real life are called or termed as ABUSIVE!! 😡

I know ppl who take serials seriously and they think this boy pushing girl is the sign of his deep profound love and all that kind of crap... Well, let me say this darlings this is not a normal behavior for any guy. No boy should push around a girl he so called proclaims to love in such a shoddy manner.

Please don't get inspired by it. By all means enjoy it because this way you are re living your mills and boon days but don't pray and want for a husband or boyfriend like that.

This is for all the armaan and arnav lovers, for those who thought that they were the epitome of romance... Puhleez!!

In my last post I wrote how advocating suicide bugs me, well, young girls who mistaken abuse for romance comes to a close second!! 😡 and I have personally seen this happen. How girls would orchestrate such situations and expect their boyfriends to react the way armaan or arnav would!!

@FQ - thanks, I've been away from the message board world for a while now and had forgotten that little trick lol I was actually on the iPad and for some reason the message box froze and wouldn't let me copy, not once but twice. Go figure.

@Cari, what's this about SRK and Ranbir putting up a display at an awards show? I have to admit, my parents are always watching these awards shows but I normally don't have the patience.

@SD I know, I thought that BALH was kind of interesting for a while and then I just gave up on it. Kya Hua is by her as well, I'm almost positive. It also had the shameless out of place promotion of her latest movie with the song Dil Garden Ho Gaya (or whatever that song is). This show started earlier this year and while I didn't (and still really don't) watch all that regularly my mom gives me updates. It starts off with a good enough premise. Woman, married for 12 years, finds out that husband is having an affair with an old sweetheart he was with before he was married. Husband leaves wife, 3 kids are also tossed around between the two in the process. So, okay, we're going to get a story of a woman who finds herself and discovers herself as a woman after her marriage has fallen apart. Where do you think this story has lead us? We now have said woman, who was supposed to be on a journey of self discovery, strength, and independence, getting set to marry her boss and friend because he loves her and her father in law, who has been more of a father to her than her own father, while sick in the hospital made her promise she would do so. I'm all for the remarriage plot but it could be done in a way that is more in keeping with current times. This was the perfect set up for a great progressive storyline, breaking out of the stereotypes, but what started out with so much promise falling back into the same tired trap.

I was going to try and avoid specific names but I might as well throw this one in as well. Punar Vivah was the ZEE show I was talking about. Even my mom, who knows nothing about this board or this topic of discussion was sitting with me while having tea talking about how unfavourable the writing of female characters is in this day and age on some of these soaps, she was specifically using Punar Vivah as an example. The most recent plot line had her husband Yash raging mad at her for some reason she couldn't figure out, cue weeks of her crying and putting herself down, taking blame for things she did not know. On top of that her mother in law said a number of terrible things and pretty much blamed her for everything bad in the world. We finally come to realize the reason he's so angry with her is because they slept together and he felt like he'd betrayed the memory of dead wife. Of course Aarti (the wife) was to blame for his moment of weakness cause she cast some magic spell on him and left him no choice but to pick her up and carry her to their room where they went on to engage in ... well you know. Okay, end rant on this ridiculous show.

I don't watch Pavitra Rishta, I did try. During the summer because all my shows were on hiatus and nothing was on TV I turned to the Indian channels and kind of tested out most of the shows.

I haven't actually seen any of those movies. I'll definitely have to check them out. For all I know they're sitting downstairs and I just didn't know. I never know which movies are safe anymore. I did go out to watch Oh My God with my parents tonight and I must say it was so much better than I had thought.

We don't ask much. We ask for good chemistry, we ask for sense, empowerment, knowledge, dignity, grit. Is it sucg a big deal ? Didn't we same things in our Mom?

Exactly!! Not a tall order at all!

@madhubala.fan I'm terribly sorry to hear what you have gone through. I know many people that have suffered through depression (and are still taking it day to day in some cases) due to things happening in the family. Unfortunately I know that your story is not an isolated incident, I've seen others, that I know personally, in a similar situation. I hope things turn out for the best for you.

I know this is off topic and I don't know how popular the Twilight series is in other parts of the world but THIS is exactly what those books promote. This sort of sick, abusive, unhealthy relationship. There are so many things wrong with this series and the so called love story within it makes is sick sometimes how much young girls are in love with this series and don't see it for what it is.

PreetiD.,dont even get me started on twilight!! What is so hot about Edward Cullen?? My god he gives me the creeps!

How can any red blooded woman find a marble statue hot and seductive? And the ending was so lame too. The author took the easy way out. No repercussions and consequences to bella's actions at all. She was given everything tied neatly in a package. Ever lasting life as a blood sucker even with the one u love is the biggest curse one can think of.

@tvbug2011. Love the term dumbing down. Don't like what it implies though but agree with you completely.

The articles these days are just copy paste materials. Especially the so called research which they publish is so blah! God knows how many times I have read that either chocolate/coffee is good for you or bad for you or what not!!

Every thing is now a short cut. Which is not a great idea always.

Love of god and power to you always my dear girl!!

Just take one day at a time and ask yourself at night that what is the one thing which went right today? Concentrate on that small glimmer of hope and see the positive effects positive thinking has on u.

God bless.

FQ,
Your question to PGM about Sony Shows. Sony Channel always wanted to be different from STAR and ZEE in its content. That's why their content is one of the most progressive on Indian Soap Arena.
This channel along with Colors is where I feel that their executives go by a Rulebook based on the Org' s VISION.

Sony even today, keeps some shows like CID, Adalat in its portfolio. It is the same reason why of all EKTA heroines, Gauri of Kutumb was the one lead with whom we all can relate. I still love her character. Loveable without going deep into FANDOM, FEMINISM, TRADITIONS etc etc. She is a character who evolves herself with time well-within her acceptable and irritable flaws. She makes it believe that her husband Pratham is not a prop, but her support and likewise for Pratham, Gauri makes it all meaningful. Now that is not a regressive soap. It had the content to please the youngsters, middle-aged.
I feel Sony's Vision has a noble attitude towards Art unlike Star or Zee. They are the cheapest sort, trading class without any sophistication or knowledge of what ART means.

However, sad it is that both Sony and Colors are being forced to follow-numbers driven business economics.

@SG - You make an interesting point about the three channels. If you go back to when Sony was launched, Star Plus was already in existence and aiming for the popular audience, and coming later in the day in order to be viable Sony positioned itself as slightly more elite. This niche positioning targeting SEC A and SEC B viewers largely (at least that was its target audience when it started out) gave it a narrower and more upmarket creative brief. Whereas Star Plus and Colors aimed to go wide and low for the masses, and customised their content accordingly.

interesting to read different perspectives on d portrayal of women. i too have read twilight series (recommendation of my young teenage friend) and found it ok though cdn't relate to any chrs. in fact i hated d bella chr in all three volumes. she was better as vampire!!!

i too did try to watch zee's show but cdn't stand to watch d way d lead women chr was treated! i cant watch such horrible show even for my fav hero. no patience!

after a long gap i started watching hindi serials just last year thanx to accidental viewing of a romance serial. initially i watched it becoz of i was shocked to see how much hindi serials have changed and just for laughter. slowly i got hooked to d story due to d lead actors n IF discussions. when i went on and on abt it to my friend, she just saw one episode and commented - in real life if a guy keeps dragging you and manhandling you, you would have slapped him n not fallen for him. How true! i did agree on that but still loved d serial. what does that say abt me!!!! probably i did like it becos of the underlying love in such manhandling. but in reality will i accept such a guy, i doubt it.

recently i watned to watch 'cocktail' seeing d trailer n songs. but i came toknow d story - goes steady with a modern girl but ends up falling for goody good girl to marry. it is not wrong to fall in love with another girl when you are in a relationship with another one. it happens all the time. what got me worked up was the stereotyping of the female chrs. d girl with whom d hero was going steady was a very modern party girl. who is not fussy abt sleeping around. evn my very progressive friend was saying dat the girl just enjoys having a good time not evn bothered with whom she has. she was nto getiing my point. d makers have to make d party girl very worse to justify the hero's change of heart. in contrast d other girl is sacrifices for her friend, lover and wht not! i refused to see the movie. it reiterated d viewpoint that you cd go around with good time girls but while marrying it shd be with a girl who dresses properly (according to indian MIL std), n behaves like a 'good indian girl'. i am sick with such stereotyping.

chetan bagat was not my fav author but his column in times perfectly refleccted my viewpoint that i was pleasantly surprised.

this stereotyping is reflected in real life too. few years back in south india (hopefully be not now) ppl attitude for girls with short hair was not really good - like she was a fast woman. now most of us do not have lengthy hair. but couple of yrs back it was like that. i had a friend who was treated badly just becoz of her modern looks. stereotyping exist even today may be differnet forms.

cocktail is such utter rubbish.
why the party girl has to be bad? the hero is also sleeping around.
why the good girl has to accept the party boy ?
he is just as bad.
i hated this garbage misogynist movie.
