Yes both are the same person .... That friend name is Rocky .... Rocky is the same guy who praise Prachi in Party (at terrace Ranbir scene ) .... Ranbir trusted in Rocky and told him his true feeling for Prachi and from Precap it look like Rocky was enjoying watching Prachi's fake MMS , that's why Ranbir beat him
