Great discussions going on everyone. It feels so good reading them and understanding different POV.

Well while re-watching the episode, I got stuck with Jatin's entry dialogue. He said ILU in bengali to which sona responded ami toma k joota maronge. When i was first watched that scene, obviously i was pissed off but now I m thinking does this dialogue hold any reference for future.
Like Jatin being in love with Sona and she rejecting it. Honestly i didn't find any "romantic" vibes in sona- jatin hug and they both were behaving like best of buddies. Yeah that hug was little dramatic, but that doesn't matter. So may be in future we can get this one sided or two sided love story (honestly sona's facade is too strong that i genuinely feel that she has moved on). Or it was just a dialogue to show that Jatin is Bengali and familiar to Sona.

Also about Jatin being the investor in Sona's company may ring "ehsaan" bells in Bose's ears. They wanted to return Dev's money at any cost to settle the scores. In Jatin's case it may not be returning the money, but for keeping the gratitude, they might push Sona to marry Jatin.

Sam you surely have such high command on language my lady 👏 Your post on page 47 just made my eyes pop out !! Such a stupendous post!! How clearly you have perceived Sona's fairy tale to Dev's reality!! I also read your post somewhere about " How Saurabh's anger is more justified than Sona's" and it completely made sense !!

I guess the problem with audiences is to keep up with the timelines and hence the uproar..earlier Sona was judged for being so meek and submissive on her early days of marriage when it was just 4 days in serial world while we were watching that for weeks. Now its 7 years in serial world but we are still stuck on that fatal night and its only weeks for us and hence judging every character for daring to move on. This show is really challenging the sanity of audiences😆

Now coming to some general discussions here

Bijoy Vs Ishwari :
I feel Bijoy is a normal protective father for whom his daughter is the apple of his eye. Every father treats their daughter Bijoy's way and hey thats why we have mothers to balance that pride and ego with self realization and compassion like Asha does here.. Before marriage even my Dad used to roar "My daughter won't be a servant to another man cooking and doing household chores and will keep maids in every turn" when he himself expects that from my mom😆. Ofcourse you know even though I know my mom is always right , I am my dad's princess always and married an unknown man just for his words😳. So I can understand where Bijoy and Sona stands here!
Ishwari's insecurity stems from being a single parent where she had to take up a father's role until Dev took over. So both may be correct in their ways if we consider their situations and theirs no question of toxicity here, just that Ishwari needs some counseling while Bijoy needs anger management 😆

Jatin:
The guy surely seems friendly for now and no offense to anyone, he gave me a younger brother vibe when he hugged Sona (I can feel the warmth and comfort they both shared there) and any romantic intentions between them might make me cringe😆 And I didn't find anything odd in that hug, since Saurabh and Dida are taken care by him in Europe and he is the supporting soul which is the reason for that warmness..moreover he is a childhood friend, I would have even pulled his ear and kicked his gut as well along with that hug😆 It all depends on the rapo we share I guess, am a very touchy person you see😉 From the precap I believe Jatin is here to present a fresh perception to Sona about Dev's presence in her life which none of the family members can give..lets face it no matter how much ever we are close to family, we always search for that one special friend to pour our heart..Jatin seems to be that guy for Sona now!!
Also I feel husbands can never be that close friend you want because we always have that cuckoo warning to be careful with what you share as it might strain the relationship😳

Sona's vulnerability:
For the first time we are seeing Sona's vulnerability in precap and I can feel her stress. My only gripe is why put yourself in that spot where your fear may come true? Its very easy to appoint a capable manager in Delhi to take care of her business and stay away from harassment and everyday stress of protecting the secret. Else if Sona is really strong as she portrays use the legal advice, with the prenup and Dev's current lifestyle Sona can easily win the custody..but will she wants her daughter to go through this is the question ?!

Btw why didn't the name "Suhana Bose" by Golu and seeing Sona in the school strike a bell for Dev? Beta you still had 7% chance naa😆 I am very much looking forward to his meeting with Tiny Khargosh😳

And congratulations to everyone for the milestone in terms of views of this thread 🥳

Jatin is just a very very good friend as far as Sona is concerned. But I don't think that vice versa applies in the case of Jatin. The scene in which he deliberately comes and stands in between Dev and Sona seemed a calculated one by him. The cvs might have put it in to increase Dev's jealously, but to me Jatins body language appeared deliberate in that scene- not to protect Sona but more to separate her from Dev.

I aggree with your this, point that at the end of the serial if they want to show that ishu is changed they she required a help
Now, coming to bijoy he is protective but at the same time his anger and, his expectations about his princess life and his, reactions and his pride are the problem. Now, I would, like yo tell my reason of the dispointment related to bose family
Some how from starting I was not having any expection from ishu and dixit family but I have, the expectation from bose, I was expection that bijiy and asha will try to understand the situtuon and, take the dev under there wings
I alwasy want that dev should find the true family in the form of Bose family after, marriage, some how asha did that at some time. You may say that I am having soft corner for dev then I will say yes because he never received a family actually he never received a genuine love of family. When a son become husband, he behiviour the most of the time mirriar of his father's, behaviour, with his mother. But dev never get any guidance about that and, sona, has received that family's feel. I know dev has made blunders and he paid the price of that actually he is still paying and I am ok with it as its a wheel of karma. But some where bijoy has made, a mistake to handle the situation and still he, is, making mistake in case of soha and sona. At one point you ask your granddaughter how you feel about your father and at the same time cannot control your reactions.
And I am not warried about the jatin. See jatin can never replace dev in sona's, life and this, is, prity clear by the casting an actor done for that role. So I am relex.

Even in the Ayaan case, the police comissioner was a phone call away and on informal terms with Dev. Somewhere deep down, as much as she might deny it outwardly, Sona knows this about Dev as well. I agree in toto. 👏 Being a Mumbaikar, the business district survives on relationships and clout. People are also good at dropping names for getting recognised. Sonakshi is trying to be an equal, but she doesn't seem to have that clout. This also stems from the fact that Dev knew how to respect people around him. He carried a certain humility in success which probably earned him brownie points. Today's Dev is still the same when it comes to business - (cut-throat). Though his present mannerisms can be looked at with raised eyebrows! Reminds me of the 'truth and dare' game played by Boses. At the end of the game, a retort from Suhana said,"Is ghar mein koi dare nahin karta'!! Did that thought influence her drawing and would she be drawn to Dev in his 'current avatar'? Children are fond of Macho men, aren't they?

Thanks, Deepa! Here's what I wrote about Saurabh on the other post, in case anyone is interested in dissecting this further:

Actually, if you think about it, Saurabh's anger is even more justified than Sona's in some respects. Saurabh was always in Dev's corner, and his explicit voice of support in the Bose household. Even when Sona herself was angry with Dev, Saurabh always reminded everyone that Dev was a good person with good intentions. While Sona chose not to tell Dev about the new business, Saurabh trusted that him and took his investment. I agree that it was wrong on Saurabh's part not to tell Sona about taking it, but he was probably that desperate to show that he wasn't totally incompetent. And even when Vicky came and kicked them out of the house, Saurabh was the first one to come to Dev's defense.

But as far as he knows, Dev broke his sister's heart, signed the prenup, and confessed that he did indeed buy out their mortgage, totally breaking that implicit trust. As a result, he and Sona have toiled for the past 7 years, and the first thing he sees on coming back to Delhi is Dev's pompous interview. He doesn't have any context for the tashan that's been going on between Dev and Sona, and he probably thinks Dev is going out of his way to irritate her. He has absolutely no reason to give Dev the benefit of doubt, and his reaction is totally justified.

I completely agree with you about the timeline. It does mess with our sense of the events that are unfolding. Like you said, the whole fake pregnancy drama happened in the course of a few days, and it didn't seem implausible when you think of it like that. But for us it was three weeks and it felt like Dev had been hiding the truth forever and ever. Even now, if you think about it, they have been apart for so much longer than they were together, but the premise of the separation/reconciliation works only because it doesn't feel that way to us. We invested time in their relationshio while their separation when by in the blink of an eye! The CVs have done a good job showing the passage of time, but it's too easy to get carried away on the Devakshi feels train sometimes. Let's keep reminding each other of the reality they are trying to portray! 😆

I also really appreciated your comment about Jatin's entry in your post, the question of why a woman in desi soaps always has to have a man as her support system. I too would have much preferred it to be a woman; we see female friendship and mutual support so rarely. If they wanted the jealousy factor, they could have made Sona's mentor a cool older woman with a son whom she is trying to set up with Sona; jealousy check, sisterhood check. My hope here is that the CVs are setting something up with Jatin's "ehsaan"... that dialogue about his investment was very suspicious to me.

Excellent point about the truth and dare game. When it comes to business, Dev has always been confident and decisive about taking risks, and I think that is what has brought him the monumental success he has. It has been clear since early on that the choices Ishwari made in bringing up her children had a lot to do with this. Dev was shielded ferociously from having to make any complicated decisions regarding the household; his only responsibility was to make money, and she therefore raised him with a lot of validation and positivity. Neha was left to bear the burden and Dev's share of self-loathing and frustration, along with her own. That confidence is what allowed Dev to be so sure of himself when it came to business; like he would always say, I earned the money once, and I can do it again. You are totally right about his humility, but that was Ishwari's raja-beta's way of doing things; his new avatar is all about wearing his confidence and self-assuredness -- at least in business -- on his sleeve. He's done with humility, and taking full advantage of the leeway his business success gives him, and turning into a true eccentric! That way, Golu's comparison to Batman carries a lot of meaning.

Sona, on the other hand, has always been risk-averse, and I think that comes from the premium she places on pride. To take risks you have to put yourself out there and be ready to accept failure and that is something Sona has always struggled with. Dada was always the risk-taker in the Bose family, and he was heavily ostracised for it. Everyone knows that in truth or dare, truth is the 'safe' option, and maybe with the drawing and the description of her father, Soha is expressing the desire for someone who can show her how to dare. Even at her age, she is choosing the safe path of staying with her mom and family instead of taking the dare to put herself out there and say she wants to meet her father. Dev's presence in her life, especially this new decisive Dev who has learned to translate his attitude towards business into his attitude towards his personal life might be just what she needs.

@All: Congratulations on yet another milestone; thanks for all the amazing contributions that brough us to our first page 50!!! 🥳

Dev is not so lucky, is he? Bijoy and Asha are wonderful parents who gave in to Sonakshi's desires and always wanted the best for her. I don't think Bijoy and Ishwari have similar traits. But, Bijoy wasn't happy at all that his daughter was marrying Dev because of his behaviour (breaking up with Sonakshi and drunken state during engagement) and his family. His biased view that she would never be happy with him continued and he never missed an opportunity to spell it out. His interference and advise to his daughter was always skewed unlike Asha who was unbiased.

Else, how would you defend Bijoy's acceptance of Jatin as a prospective SIL - his traits being a Bengali and helping them during the financial and homeless crisis? He is very clear that Suhana doesn't need a father. How can he forget that Dev saved his daughters life and also bore all the expenses at the hospital? At that time, Dev was not in love with Sonakshi. His differences were with Ishwari and he used his daughter as a bait to pour out his frustrations. His false pride ultimately led to their separation. Today, his daughter is successful and financially well off. But is she happy? That is my only question.

-Rekha

Thanks Rekha for replying. Yes Dev is not lucky because of the toxic environment in Dixit home. He had money, mom and 3 sisters. Yet he could not have normal sibling bond with his sisters. His mom made him the provider and wanted Dev's attention most of the time. She neither gave time to her daughters nor allowed much bond between the brother sisters. In contrast Bijoy had balanced his mom and wife beautifully. He was partial to Sona but fathers generally dote on their daughters. 😊 He was protective about Sona. I hope to see the same bond between Dev and Soha! ❤️

Although Bijoy was not happy with Sona's choice, but he never wanted to break the marriage. I remember once when Sona and Dev had a tiff, he ousted both of them to sort out their differences. If he had disliked Dev so much, he would never have allowed his darling daughter to go out in the night with Dev. He would have simply ousted Dev.

Bijoy was bitter when
1) His daughter was to be subjected to medical ministrations for infertility treatment which could have harmful effects - A protective father will definitely care about his daughter's health. I think here he was disgusted at Dev's attitude more than Ishwari. Ishwari would obviously want a grandchild irrespective of whatever happens to Sona. If Sona dies in childbirth, then also she will not get much bothered as long as her grandchild is safe. But for Dev this should not be the case. So Bijoy had more expectation from Dev. Dev was also aware of Sona's condition before marriage and despite that went ahead with marriage. So he can't pressurize Sona for treatment.
2) We know Bijoy is a principled man who filed his taxes and did his service with full honour. Now imagine a retired person who has lived his life with high values be called a thief! This was a big dishonor. It is not a insignificant matter as suggested by Dev neither it is a false pride.
3) Slap: Slap can be unintentional but there is no denying that Dev pushed his father in law

Anyone will be frustrated if faced with any of the above situation.

Regarding Jatin as prospective SIL, I am sure if Jatin's relatives come and accuse Bijoy of cheating/theft the end result will be the same, whether Jatin is Bong or not! 😃 I think he is worried about Suhana that is why he wants Sona to settle down, so that Soha has a father figure.

Anyways ..comparing Bijoy and Ishwari is something like comparing short-temper and malice!

It is a long weekend, getting bored😆. So I was watching the Friday episode again and found a decode to Dev's smirk to Sona and Jatin. Earlier I was not able to relate it with his behavior in the later part of the episode. It may read like written update, but I have put my analysis in between. Dev's inner thoughts are in blue. Here it goes:

Dev opens his laptop to work and his attention shifts towards Sona. She is working very seriously, and is perhaps little upset. He takes a good look at her, in her office and proceeds with his task at hand. Jatin says "Ami tomake bhalobshi" and Sona smiles. Dev gets distracted. Who this guy? Another tumi-tumi speaking in Bengali? He sees Sona looks very happy to see Jatin. She leaves her seat, runs and hugs him. Dev slams his laptop and leaves his chair to get a better view of his enemy camp. He is disturbed to see Sona hugging another guy in front of him. He is more interested in his enemy camp than his work.

Sona hugs Jatin. Dev is confused and curious. Who is this guy? Why is Sonakshi so happy to see him? Why are they hugging? Has Miss Bose really moved on? Then what was all that, that happened one day ago? Sona and Jatin are having a friendly banter. Dev is observing them intently, trying to understand the equation. They seem to know each other quite well, interacting very comfortably. Sona is showing her office to Jatin in her long lost cheerful excited self, with much authority.

Jatin complements her and her office while Sona smiles. Now Dev is angry at the guy. How dare he complements her! He doesn't realise he is feeling jealous. Their banter continues and so does Dev's jealousy. Momentarily, he is angry at Sona also for entertaining this guy. His mind flashes back to Sona's story and her unwillingness to disclose who her Suraj is. The question has been haunting him ever since. He puts two and two together and comes to the conclusion that this guy must be the Suraj of her life. (Dev still doesn't realise why he wants to know each and every detail of Sona's life. He still thinks he has forgotten their love.)

At this thought, Dev feels his heart break again. He jerks his jacket and goes to his seat. Alright Sonakshi, so you loved me only this much. Till today, I am struggling to forget you, to eliminate you from my system. But you? You moved on barely one year after you walked out on our marriage. So, was it that easy for you? When I loved you, I loved you with my heart and soul. Didn't you ever love me, Miss Bose?

Unaware of Dev's reactions, the friendly chatter on the other side of the office continues. Dev is still watching them intently, but now with a signature sarcastic smirk. Sona's eyes meet Dev for a fraction of second and her face loses its cheer. Alright Miss Bose! I always knew, after that fateful night, that you never loved me. How else could you break your promises so easily? Love is only a word, it doesn't exist. Par Dev Dixit ko bhulana itna asaan nhi h. Challenge accepted!

PS: I must say Shaheer is a very perceptive actor. He doesn't have a single dialogue in the entire scene, yet he conveys so much. The smirk was so menacing.
