The date was beautiful.... They both are realizing things about each other slowly.... And also opening up to each other about their lives.... Loved the ease that's starting to flow between them.... Now it's Prerna's turn to surprise Rishabh it seems... And what might it be.... Do continue soon...

PART 6

“Right and we are here” she squealed delightfully at the sight of an old ice-cream shop.

Before he could utter a word, she was already out of the car and halfway to the shop and he for his life couldn’t understand why she wanted to come on the outskirts of the city for ice-cream, there were hundreds of them in Kolkata what was so special about this one.

He walked towards her and by the time he reached she already purchased the ice-cream.

“Let’s walk for a bit I want to show you something” she said turning towards him handing him a cone with mango ice-cream “you like it” she said, it was not a question.

“How did she know” he thought.

“Well I may not have private detectives to makes files on people but I do have observation skills” she said licking her ice-cream.

“Did you just….” He thought again.

“No I did not read your brain now stop thinking about it” she said again as she continued to walk and then suddenly stopped turning towards him.

“Close your eyes” she said.

“Why?”

“Because I want to kidnap you” she mocked and then with barely restrained exasperation said in a sweet voice “please”.

He didn’t say anything but closed his eyes anyways, as he let her hold his hand and direct her forward with no sense, no knowledge of what she was doing, where they were going. The significance of this moment wasn’t lost to him he was giving her power, trusting her without any plan B, without being sure of anything.

She stopped walking a minute later and carefully turned him to his right “Now open your eyes” she said gently, and so he did.

Rishab Bajaj was not a man who would be awestruck with a few lights, he had seen the world’s most beautiful landscape’s, been to the most exotic destinations, seen over the top beautiful decorations more than half of his life but he had never seen something like this.

Infinite stars looked back at him gleaming and glittering, twinkling and dazzling in the dark night it appeared like someone had taken the most expensive diamonds in the world and tossed them into the sky. The view was for the lack of better word enchanting. It appeared as if time had stopped for this place from some hundred years ago before the man’s greed had destroyed nature. It appeared like this scenery had been frozen in time untouched by the devils of the world.

“There isn’t much traffic and factories at this end of the city so the less pollution,that’s why the stars are clearly visible. This is my secret place no one other than you has ever been here” She had said so gently that he had barely heard her. “This never seems less beautiful”.

They stood at the spot for a few minutes, silently cherishing their companionship and Prerna had noticed they still held hands, their fingers laced together even when there was no need to do that, but he looked so peaceful, so awestruck that she didn’t have it in her to ruin this peace by saying or doing anything.

She had almost wanted to laugh everything about this setting looked so unnatural, like it was some alternate universe she was here at her secret place, a place so close to her heart that she had never shared it with anyone, the place which had been hers alone and no ones else’s, she had never bought anyone here not even the people closest to her and now she was standing here with a man, her husband gazing at stars eating ice-cream at midnight.

How did this even happen.

“Prerna chale” she had heard her husband, he said the words so softly as if he was afraid that anything other than whispering would break the serenity.

She had simply nodded not able to find her voice, they had walked together in comfortable silence only broken by the soft click of her heals against the uneven ground.

“Why?” he asked softly. “Why would you bring me here if it’s your secret place” he completed his sentence without sparing her a glance as he continued walking.

“I thought you’ll like it” she answered.

“I do” he said “and you are lying”.

She signed before answering “I don’t know you too well, but I know that you guard your privacy and keep things to yourself, you always like to be a few steps ahead of everyone, have some sort of advantage on anyone you are dealing with and I assumed you would be more comfortable sharing your sorrows, worries and joys with me if you knew something about me no one else did” she finished her monologue.

They had reached their car just before she had finished and as he opened the door for her he had finally took notice of their entwined hands for the first time at night, he had been grateful that by the time he had sat at his seat and began driving she had closed her eyes and lost herself in the welcoming arms of sleep because he knew he wouldn’t sleep tonight, not after this.

He had been overwhelmed by how well prerna seemed to know him in that moment as if she knew how scared he, was how utterly unsure he had been about letting her know him and so she had wanted to make it easier for him, she had given him a part of herself she had never given anyone as if to ease his worries, to assure him.

“We are in this together” she had said but did she even know what this was, how much darkness there would be before they could find light.All this all these moments, these efforts, these milestones of their relationships could succumb to that one truth he had kept hidden from her, the one thing that had been the biggest catylist in him being who he was today..

He had cursed himself then and he had cursed this wretched world but most of all he had cursed her for being so perfect almost to the extend of being infallible some days ,even now when she looked at her peacefully sleeping, she looked made out of nothing but compassion and love, so pure that a simple touch would taint her.

As they had reached home he knew it would be no use to wake her up and so, carefully lifted her in his arms as he easily navigated the way to their room all the while his eyes trained at her face, as if he couldn’t look away, as if he couldn’t get enough of her.

He had placed her on her side of the bed and removed her heals and jewelry in an attempt to make her a little comfortable before smothering her with blankets.

At least one of us can sleep peacefully, was his last thought before he went to change for the night but not before one last glance it her
