Too many people already guessed the reasons behind Basu’s visit to Sharma Niwas and now it’s time know who guessed it right 😉

Chapter 3A

As soon as Prerna cut the call her mother opened the door for her, Veena looked at her daughter in anger and pulled her inside the house, she scolded her in a low voice as they walked inside

‘What is this Priyu? I know that you were busy taking Kukki’s care but you could have at least texted me.. Hum bhi Kukki ke liye pareshaan the..’

‘Maa main aapko message ya phone kar deti lekin mujhe sirf Kukki ka khayal thodi na rakhna pad raha tha… Mr. Bajaj ki halat toh Kukki se bhi zyada kharab thi, vo kitne pareshaan the.. Accha vo chod… Basu’s yahan kyun aaye hain?’

‘Pata nahi.. Abhi chalo tum pehle hi kafi der se aai ho..’

They reached the veranda was everyone was seated and Prerna was surprised to see that man whom she had bumped into earlier this morning was also present there, she quickly composed herself and greeted them, Anurag and Moloy smiled at her while Mohini just gave her a small nod, but that man still kept glaring at her and his gaze had started making her feel uncomfortable once again, she tried to ignore him and sat next to her father. Mohini cleared her throat to get everyone’s attention

‘Now that Prerna has finally come home, I would like to tell everyone the reason for our sudden visit..’

The sarcasm in her voice was not unnoticed by anyone in the room, she got up and walked to the man who still kept staring at Prerna

‘This is Naveen, he is like a brother to me… and I want to propose his marriage with your daughter…’

Everyone in the room stood at once after listening to her words

‘Mohini… have you lost it… aisa kaise bol sakti ho tum…’

Moloy looked at his wife angrily, he was shocked when she made this sudden plan to visit the Sharma’s, he knew that she loathed them, thus he also had an idea that she had a purpose behind this visit but now he understood her intent and was furious to know why she wanted to come here

‘Relax Moloy… I am not very happy about it myself, but Naveen says that he likes Prerna alot…’

Naveen who had been silently sitting and glaring at Prerna till now stood up and walked to Moloy who was still fuming in anger

‘It’s true Jeeju… I saw Prerna for the first time today and instantly I knew that she was the one with whom I want to spend the rest of my life with…’

‘Naveen Babu do you even realise how insane you sound right now? Sirf ek baar Prerna ko dekh ke yeh kaise keh sakte hain aap ki aap usse shadi karna chahte hain? And don’t you realise how old you are to get married to her?’

Anurag spoke in a rather irritated tone, he always thought that Naveen was weird but now he was sure that his mother’s so called brother was actually mad. And the fact that his mother was actually supporting him made annoyed Anurag more

‘Anu.. behave yourself…’

‘Maa ask your brother to behave himself, and do you even realise what you are encouraging him to do?’

‘I know very well what I am doing Anu.. don’t teach me..’

She turned to the Sharma’s and walked to them with her usual grace

‘So Veena… what do you think about this alliance?’

Veena looked at her in anger, she wanted to slap Mohini for thinking so low for her daughter. Naveen looked nearly fifty, he was three times older than her daughter and the way he glared at Prerna, being a mother and a woman Veena knew that it was plain lust that he had for Her daughter. She wanted to pull his eyes from his sockets for looking like that at her. But first she had to answer Mohini, who had the audacity to even propose this marriage to them.

‘I think that you should take your brother out of this house at once, before I forget my limits and say something wrong to him or you for having this thought that we will agree to this marriage ..’

She said in a commanding yet calm tone, Mohini was a little surprised to see her this side because Veena never back answered her before. No matter how many times she had insulted Veena and her family or treated them as inferior but today for the first time she had answered her back.

‘Think carefully before denying Veena.. your daughter will live a lavish life after she marries Naveen, you have no idea how much money he has…’

‘Our daughter is not a good to be exchanged in return for money Mohini Bhabhi..’

Rajesh said in a soft voice and Mohini turned to look at him. He looked straight in her eyes as he continued

‘Prerna is my pride. And my honour. There is no way that I will get her married to someone just because he is wealthy…’

He wrapped his arm around his daughter and pulled her closer to him, Prerna who was still stunned felt a little better in her father’s warmth, she hugged him tightly and tried to comfort herself.

‘I will get her married only to that man who my daughter will choose for herself..’

He looked lovingly at his daughter and saw tears in her eyes. He knew that all this was too much for her to take in. He wiped a lone tear that had escaped her eyes and looked at Moloy, who was shameful for his wife’s words.

‘Moloy.. please take your wife and her brother out of my house. With all due respect I can’t bare them in my house right now!!’

Mohini never felt more insulted in her whole life, without another word, she walked to Naveen and grabbed him by his arm, she almost dragged him outside the house

‘You don’t realise how big mistake you are making by rejecting me… Prerna will never get a better suitor than me… and if she can’t be mine.. I won’t let her be someone else’s as well..’

Naveen yelled as Mohini forcefully took him outside the house. As soon as they were out of sight, Moloy turned to Rajesh and Veena, he folded his hands in front of them.

‘Please forgive me, if I had any indication that Mohini would propose Naveen’s marriage with Prerna, I would have never come here.’

He looked at Prerna who was still in tears, he went near her and gently patted her head. She broke herself from her father’s embrace and ran to her room, Veena wanted to go after her but Rajesh stopped her.

‘Let her be alone for sometime..’

Veena looked at him helplessly and went to her room, Rajesh sat on the sofa again, Anurag walked to him and sat next to him

‘I apologise to you on my mother’s behalf, she loves Naveen Babu a lot and that is why she must have given in to his demand, but please don’t worry.. I’ll speak to her and make her understand how wrong this is..’

Rajesh just nodded at him and continued staring at the floor. Moloy understood his plight, he knew Rajesh very well. Prerna was their everything and today Mohini had treated her very wrongly by assuming that Prerna would agree to marry Naveen only for his wealth. Moloy was about to say something but Mohini’s call stopped him from doing so, he gestured his son that it was time to leave and with a final goodbye they left.

Prerna clutched her knees tightly to her chest and sobbed silently. The way Naveen was looking at her made her feel uncomfortable in her own skin and the fact that he wanted to marry her had terrified her. She always knew that Mohini didn’t like her, but when she proposed her marriage alliance with Naveen she felt disgusted about her. Could she not see the lust that Naveen had in his eyes? Or was her hate for Prerna so strong that she wanted her to live the rest of her life in hell?

She knew that her parents would never agree to this marriage, but Naveen’s words had scared her. He was insane, Prerna knew it now, or else he wouldn’t even think about marrying someone who was so younger to him. But something about his words had created an unknown fear in her heart.

Rishabh reached home and fished out his phone, as he promised, he texted Prerna that he had reached, he walked to Kukki’s room only to find her awake and playing with her dolls. A small smile crept across his face as he sat next to her

‘I take it that my princess is feeling better now?’

He asked in a baby like voice and earned a big smile in return

‘Yes.. Papa.. I am better now…’

‘Good.. because I didn’t like seeing you in pain..’

Rishabh confessed to his daughter and she immediately wrapped her tiny hands around his neck. He smiled at her action and hugged her closer to him. Kukki broke the hug and sat on his lap as she continued playing with her dolls. Rishabh too joined her in her play.

Chapter 3B

A few minutes later Chandu knocked on their door and brought dinner for them, Rishabh fed kukki her food and medicines and put her to sleep. He got so busy with his daughter that he failed to notice that it was already past 10 in the night. He picked up his phone to check if he had any messages from Prerna, she must still be worrying about Kukki but to his surprise there were no messages from her. In fact, she hadn’t replied to his earlier text as well.

‘Strange.. Prerna has never done this before..’

The unknown fear that he felt while dropping her to her place had gripped his heart again. He walked out of the room and immediately dialed her number on his phone. The phone kept ringing but she never answered it, and it scared him more. Once again he tried to call her and this time she answered it

‘Thank God you picked your phone.. are you okay? What’s wrong? Why didn’t you answer my text? Everything is fine na??’

Rishabh asked all the questions in one breath, Prerna was flattered by his concern for her and though his voice soothed her Prerna let out an involuntary cry after listening to it

‘Are you crying?! Prerna what’s wrong?? Why are you crying! Tell me!!’

Prerna couldn’t say a word, she wanted to hug him and cry loudly, she wanted him to hold her in his strong arms and console her that Naveen’s words meant nothing.

‘Prerna...’

Rishabh called out once again and With great difficulty she managed to narrate to him what had happened earlier this evening, Rishabh’s blood boiled in anger after he came to know the reason behind her tears.

‘I am coming to you right now…’

Rishabh said with an urgency in his voice, he was already walking back towards Kukki’s room to grab his car keys

‘No you won’t… it’s late Rishabh aur Maa Baba pehle se hi shaam ko jo hua uske wajah se upset hain, if you come home at this time it won’t look nice…’

Prerna said in between her sobs, she was right, though Sharma’s were fond of him, they didn’t know about the relationship that Rishabh and Prerna shared it would obviously be odd if he turned up on their doorstep at this hour of the night without any prior notice. But her cries were making him feel helpless.

‘Prerna.. please stop crying.. it will be more difficult for me to not come there right now if you continue crying..’

‘But I can’t help it Rishabh.. his words have created a fear in my heart.. you didn’t hear him, he sounded insane and what if he actually does something in his madness?’

‘Then don’t think about his words.. I know it’s easier said than done but Prerna if you are saying yourself that he sounded insane then don’t let his words affect you, and I promise you that till I am with you he wouldn’t be able to do any harm to you…’

Rishabh’s words were comforting her a bit, but she was still scared that something might go wrong.

‘Prerna I know that you are still not very convinced with my words and I also know that you will think that I am stupid after listening to what I am about to say…’

He shut his eyes and taking a huge breath he gathered the courage to tell her what he had in his heart

‘I love you Prerna.... you know that I have always been attracted to you but lately I have realised that it’s not just attraction…. I feel more strongly than that for you… You have become an important part in my life, janta hun ki meri baatien sunn kar aapko yakeen nahi hoga but it’s true Prerna… by now you would have come to know that I don’t lie.. Aapko iss tarah se pain main nahi dekh sakta hun… right now all I want to do is come running to you and hold you in my arms, I just want to be there for you… aaj tak meri life main meri beti ke alawa aur koi special nahi reha hai but I think ki abh aap bhi mere liye special ban gai hain.. Khud nahi janta kab aur kaise lekin sach yehi hai Prerna..’

Rishabh sighed after finally confessing to her what he actually felt for her, maybe the timing was not right but he really wanted to convey it to her that he loved and would always be by her side, no matter what happened. He waited for her to say something but after 5 minutes of painful silence he finally spoke again

‘Prerna…I know that my confession was really sudden, but trust me every word that I have said is true, now please.. Say something…if you are mad or hurt, tell me, be honest with me but say something.. Please’

He almost begged her to say something, but Prerna was too stunned to speak a word right now after knowing what Rishabh felt for her, he was in love with her. Prerna couldn’t believe his words, she knew that he wasn’t lying but it was still hard for her to believe him.

‘Rishabh… I…’

Before completing her sentence Prerna started crying again, but this time they were tears of happiness and not hurt

‘Please.. Prerna.. Don’t cry.. I didn’t mean to hurt you more… I am sorry… I shouldn’t have said all this today.. I am so sorry..’

‘You are so stupid Rishabh… I am not crying because I am hurt…’

Rishabh finally breathed in relief

‘ I am crying because I love you too…’

Prerna said in a soft voice and for a second Rishabh thought that he must have imagined her saying so but when he heard her sob again he realised that she actually said them

‘You scared me for a minute..’

He heard her chuckle on the other end of the phone and smiled himself

‘So now that we have both confessed that we love each other, there is something else that I want to ask you …’

‘Haan ask na…’

Prerna got out of her bed and walked to the balcony, she stood leaning against the wall and waited for Rishabh to continue speaking

‘Can I come to meet your parents tomorrow?? I don’t think we should keep them in the dark anymore, if they would have known what kind of relationship we share with each other, I would have been there next you right now and not just consoled you on the call, I want to be honest with them..’

The fact that Rishabh wanted her parents to about their relationship meant a lot to Prerna, she knew that her parents were really fond of him but she was scared to let them know about her feelings for Rishabh. What if they stopped her from loving him because he was older to her and had a daughter too?! What if they don’t approve of their relationship? Several thoughts were running in her mind and all of them were negative ones, but then she recalled her father’s words, he said that he would let her marry the guy that she chose for herself and she knew that she had already chosen Rishabh as her life partner.

‘Okay… come by 11 then…’

Rishabh grinned at the other end of the call as soon as she said those words

‘I’ll be there sharp at 11..’

Prerna could sense the excitement in his words and shook her head slightly, she suddenly remembered about Kukki

‘By the way how is Kukki now? Is her fever gone or she still has it?’

‘She is fine now, here fever has gone but I still gave her a dose of medicines to stop it from relapsing..’

‘Hmm…fine.. It’s getting late, you should go back to her, and please get her along with you tomorrow…’

‘Yes, now you don’t stress about anything, I will make sure everything goes well…’

‘I trust you with that…’

Her one simple sentence had made Rishabh’s heart swell

‘I love you…’

After saying those three words to her once again, Rishabh cut the call and walked back to his daughter’s room with a smile plastered on his face, he managed to lay in his daughter’s tiny bed and pulled her closer to him as sleep came to him.
