Seeing that promo only i came to know that this is going to be nothing but just a goodlooking OTT senseless drama. Still gathering all hope watched it for eri's sake and wasn't at all impressed by the first episode. This show is lavish n grand n NOTHING else. Such lazy writing where they are just copy pasting scenes from all their shows, wth was ekta thinking this to be her dream project?

Promising audiences this is some heart touching epic love story and then basically just copying scenes n tracks ditto from ur other shows is a disservice to audiences. But as i type this i look like a fool myself because the trps have increased with this senseless track n plot. This is the root cause of the problem, we as audiences support such BS and thats exactly what we get. Look at kdb, the quality of that show is utter BS and its no. 2 on trp charts. The problem is in us as audiences. If ppl stop supporting sch shows which take audience' intelligence for granted, its only then that we will have quality shows which will launch and which will sustain.

Thank you dear!

You're absolutely correct. It's our responsibility as the audience to offer constructive criticism of these TV shows. I mean, if we lap all the garbage they dish out without any complaints whatsoever, that's what we will get week after week, month after month.

Ms.Gravity- Beautiful, hard-hitting post :) You've put forth all the relevant points, in a very logical manner. This show is a disaster in it's entirety. I for one, cannot bring myself to accept that this is the same Erica who had played the firebrand nutritionist in her previous show. There is such a MASSIVE gulf in the quality of characterization and writing when one analyses her two characters/shows.

I agree!

In fact, that's one of the reasons I began watching her previous show because she was such an interesting, dignified character back then. Not the fragile helpless victim she's been made out to be here. It may be the Balaji label that got added to her kitty, but characterization-wise, Prerna is actually a demotion for someone who played Sonakshi, and OWNED it!

aur ab tu college bhi na jaane kahan chala gaya

@blue- that's the funny bit..woh sirf dikhane ke liye tha, ab toh sab bhaad mein jaye wali kahani ho gayi hai

They made a mistake copying the exact storyline.

The setting could've been different...

but khair, ab toh show mein logic dikh jaye yehi bahut hai

I know this isn't the perfect co-relation but I'd like to say it.

It all started with Prerna not having enough financial resources to rebut Navvu's evil advances. The amount here is in lakhs.

In Erica's previous show, there was a stage where the FL's i.e her character's family had to face some humiliation owing to their middle-class status. That family too was a regular middle-class family (but they looked absolutely relatable, unlike the Sharma family here). She had to return Rs.5 Crore. Yeah, she was a very strong, independent and successful nutritionist in the show, but 5 Crore was still WAY beyond her family's financial reach. It is a HUGE sum for a middle-class family. They didn't have a deadline to return the money, but that girl was upright and very self-respecting. She returned the money within a very short period of time. And how did she do that? She and her family mortgaged their house. It was a tough decision, but they stood firm and went ahead with it. When your self-respect is assaulted, people DO TAKE such decisions. That is how people deal with testing circumstances in life. Contrary to that, what Prerna has done here is outright illogical and pathetic.

I'll share my own personal experiences. I'm someone who's been brought up by a single mother. My Mom was not the most highly-educated woman out there, but she slogged tirelessly to give me and my sister a good life. We purchased a house via a bank loan. Yes, a loan. The option which SO MANY middle-class families take in testing situations. We WERE middle-class and we ARE still middle-class. The Sharma family, based on how they've been portrayed, are financially MUCH more stable. Heck, I've done part-time jobs, I'm still doing one, all while pursuing my education. Even we have high expenditures, often running into lakhs, but we've always found a way. Through our hardwork, not by bending in front of anyone.

And here, Prerna is bending in front of that disgusting creep for a house! Seriously?

The writers better not use the middle-class card to justify Prerna's stupidity. DO NOT insult the intelligence and integrity of so many middle class families out there who do not resort to such idiocy, even in the toughest of situations.

@red - Word. In that other show, it was actually relatable. 5 Crore, for most people, even those comfortably rich, can be a huge sum to pay off. Sonakshi and her family had it worse, they were normal middle class people. Here, the setting and the costumes are such you cannot take their poverty seriously. I mean, when I compare 15 lakhs to 5 crores, it seems like a joke to me. Totally not worth shipping yourself off with a creep.

@blue - What a moving, inspiring story. Your mom must be a powerhouse of strengtha nd resilience. True, there are so many women these days who're fighting tooth and nail to live a life of dignity, working hard, hustling, doing all they can so they dont have to compromise their freedom and self-respect ever. And yahan, Prerna gave up even before trying. How uninspiring and moronic is that?!

@pink - That's the exact thing I said to one of the members who commented on this thread. That this "middle class poverty card" is JUST NOT FITTING IN here. It's seriously insulting our intelligence and the values of what most middle class people hold close to their heart.

@KumbhKarni very well said. In krpkab, sona did not only mortgage the house, she was ousted from it and her family was humiliated. She had a choice to go back to her husband but she chose her self respect. She worked super hard and got the house back. And now seeing Erica play a diametrically opposite character in this show truly makes my blood boil.
And ur personal experiences say it all. Middle class families get together and find solutions to their problems instead of succumbing to them. My parents come from poor families, not even middle class and today they are doing well, touchwood. They faced their share of financial problems and got out of it. And they have given me n my siblings a great life and education. Erica said prerna is aaj ki ladki. I want to know what she feels about the character now, after 2 n a half months.
