Didi, hum log aa gaye. Ander chale? Said Rano in a shaky voice, breaking Bani's thoughts.
With as much as confidence she could fake at that time she said: Haan Guriya, challo, ander chalte hai. And the three sisters stepped out of the car.

Part 4
'Mausi!'
'Are Beta. You are here? Aur who bhi is waqt? Is everything alright?' An elderly lady looked surprised at the door.
'Yes Mausi. Don't worry everything is fine.'
Mr. Walia bend down to take the lady's blessing.
'I have brought you a surprise. Actually three surprises.'
Mr Walia stepped out the of the way so the lady could see the three young girls standing in front of the door.
'Yeh Nishikant bhai ki betiyan hai, hai na?' She said with a big smile.
'Ha mausi, yeh unki betiyan hai.'
The three girls were so surpised. Even she knew their father, but he never mentioned these people.
'Come in girls, come in.' she said while walking towards the door.
'I am Jai's Mausi. And I called your father Bhai. But you can call me mausi to. Everybody in this house does.'
'Ji, thank you' Bani answered. She folded her hands to do Namaste and bend down to take the lady's blessing.
'Mera naam Bani hai, aur yeh Pia aur Rano hai.' Pia and Rano just stood there silently looking at the house. This was even bigger than the house they were in half an hour ago.
'Princess, Guriya!' Bani called them. She looked at them and urged them with her eyes to take Mausi's blessing.
'Jeete raho!' Was the blessing they got in return.
Mausi and Mr. Walia were impressed by the way Bani handled her sisters. Both of them kept looking at her. Finnaly Mr Walia said: 'Mausi yeh yehan rahenge, Adi can I discuss something with you in the study.' Saying that he walked away.
Neither Bani, nor Pia and Rano had noticed before that there were other people in the hall looking at them. They saw the back of a man who had joined Mr Walia and both of them walked to another part of the huge house.
'Aao main tumhe sab se milwaati hoon. Tony zara inka samaan gari se nikaal dena.' Said Mausi to a butler, and she led the girls to the group of people.
'Yeh hai Jigyasa. Tumhare Uday uncle ki beti aur Jai ki bari behen. Aur Jigyasa ke bachche hai Ranveer aur Anu.' An distinguished lady in a very beautiful sari and matching jewellery gave them a warm smile. Next to her was her son. A well dressed and good-looking guy in his early twenties. He smiled, but the smile disappeared before any of the girls could respond. Anu was a girl about Rano's age. Judging by the 1000 watt smile she was obviously exited to see her guests.
'Aur yeh hai Jigyasa ki saas. Biji. Yeh hai tarun aur uski patni Karuna aur unka beta Pushkar.'
Tarun was the son of Uday Walia's younger brother. Tarun was raised as a son by Uday and Krishna Walia after first his mother died followed closely by his father.
Tarun was a good-looking man in his early forties. His wife Karuna was a charming lady who had an lovely smile. Their son Pushkar appeared to be a typical teenager around Pia's age. He flashed his most flirtiest smile at all three of them. The girls folded their hands to greet each and every member of the house.
'Achcha ab chalo aur khana khalo, tum logon ko bhook lagi hogi.' said mausi smiling.
Mr. Walia and the other man, who introduced himself as Aditya, Jigyasa's husband, joined them for dinner,
Dinner passed by to quickly for the three sisters. After a three months they got to enjoy a dinner with other people besides themselves. Every member seemed to have excepted the fact that they had three new members in their house and they looked pleased with it. Every member tried their levelbest to make the girls feel comfortable. Anu and Pushkar chatted away with Pia. Mausi , Karuna, Jigyasa and Beeji, who insisted to be called Dadima, kept asking questions to Bani. Aditya and Tarun tried to talk to a slightly hesitant Rano.
The only two persons who were scilent were Mr. Walia and Ranveer. Both of them kept observing the family and the new girls. Mr. Walia was glad that the girls seemed to fit in to the family.
After dinner Mr. Walia asked Mausi to join him and Aditya in the study.
'Mausi aap baith jaaye, mujhe aapse kuch baat karni hai.'
'Ha bolo beta kya hai.'
'Mausi aap ko bura to nahin laga ki mai bina pooche in larkiyon ko….'
'Not at all. They are so sweet beta. Aur uparse Kiran aur Nishikant bhai ki bachchiyan hai. Yahan nahin aati to aur kahan jaati.' Mausi replied sweetly.
'Thank you mausi, mai darasal inhe apne paas rakhna chaahta tha but........'
'Jai did Nikita do something?' Aditya asked worriedly.
'No nothing like that Adi, it's just that.....'
All three of them knew that he was lying.
'Khair, mujhe un larkiyon ke saath kuch baatein discuss karni hai lekin aaj nahin, kal mai phir aaunga. Aaj bahut raat ho gayi hai. Mausi please aap inke liye woh barawala karma ready karwadena. This is a new place so they will feel nice if they can sleep in one room. Later they can of course have a separate bedroom. Thik hai na?'
'Ha beta, abhi karwati hoon.'
'Accha mausi main chalta hoon i will see you tomorrow. Bye Adi.' Mr Walia walked out of the study, wished the rest of his family a goodnight and walked outside the main door.
When he stood next to his car he heard someone call his name.
'Mr Walia!'
He turned around and saw Bani aproching him. He heard the same sweet noise he heard the last time he walked toward his car. Cham, cham, cham.
Unknowingly he smiled again. Before he knew she stood next to him.
To scared to look up she kept looking at her feet.
'Mr Walia, I just wanted to thank you for calling us to Mumbai and for letting us stay here and..uhmmm….for everything. I hope we are not causing you any trouble. I also wanted to apologise for what happened because of us in y……'
'There is no need to apologise or thank me Bani. I am just doing what I should have done three months ago. I know you must be having a lot of questions and doubts in your mind but I promise we will clear them very soon. As for now just go to bed. I have asked Mausi to prepare one room for the three of you so you won't feel lost in your new house. Get comfortable here and we will talk tomorrow okay, Good night.'
'Good night Mr. Walia.' She stood there until she saw the silver car drive trough the gates.
The night passed very disturbingly for Bani. She was in a new place, surrounded by people she had never seen before and she had a lot of questions in her mind. On top of that, the insecurity she felt about their future didn't magically vanish by coming to Mumbai, as she had thought two days ago. She kept looking at the ceiling in the middle of the huge bed in the room Mausi got ready for them. Pia liked sleeping on the left side and Rano never wanted to sleep next to Pia because of Pia's habit of tossing and turning in her sleep. In short, Bani only slept for a few hours, and she was the first of the three to wake up in the morning.
After her shower and after she got ready she woke up Pia and Rano to come downstairs. She went downstairs to find Mausi in a room she did not notice last night. Mausi was sitting on the foor and she had her eyes closed. Bani hesitantly went inside and found herself in the poojaroom. She look around and saw idols of Ramji, Sitama, Lakshman and Hanumanji. Bani's face lit up. 'Ramji, aap yahan bhi? Jaise mai aapka picha nahin choorti hu, waise hi you won't let me go away from you huh?' She thought while smiling.
Bani sat down next to Mausi and folded her hands. She said her prayers silently. Suddenly she heard a voice. 'Are beta tum uth gayi aur tum yahan?' Bani opened her eyes and gave a weak smile. She was hoping Mausi would not mind her coming here. Mausi give her a big smile, sensing her feelings.
'Achcha kiya ki tum yahan aagayi. Chalo Prasad lelo. Mujhe abhi breakfast ki taiyari karni hai.'
'Thank you Mausi. Main aapki kuch madat karu?'
Thus started Bani's first morning in the Walia Mansion.
The morning flew by in a buzz of activities. Breakfast was served at 8.30 and everybody in the house came down as breakfast was a family affair. All the residents of the Walia Mansion tried their to make the girls feel comfortable and get adjusted in 'their new home'. Nobody wanted to make the girls feel like outsiders.
In the afternoon Aditya asked Bani, Pia and Rano to join him in the study. He and Mausi wanted to discuss something with them. Bani enterd the study. It was a big room with a darkwooden floor. on the right side there was a big, organised mahogany desk with a laptop on it. Behind the desk there was a black leather chair. On the left side of the room there were several bookshelf with different books on them. At the far end of the room, by the window, there was a sofaset, and two leather chair. The study look professional, but warm. Bani was very impressed by the room.
After the five of them sat down by the window Aditya told them that Mr. Walia asked him to talk to them.
'Won't he join us Mr. Bali…….uhm …..he told us he would meet us today.' said Bani.
'I'm sorry Bani he had to go to go on a businesstrip. Something went wrong on the last trip. It was suddenly decided last night, that is why he asked me to talk to you three. And please don't call me Mr. Bali. Call me Adi uncle. I will be very happy if you do.'
'I'm sorry……..uncle.' Bani replied meekly.
Aditya smiled. 'So lets start. You probably want to know why Jai is your gardian?'
Looking at the girls faces and listening to their questioning silence he said smiling: 'I'll take that as a yes! Maybe Mausi can explain that question better then me. Mausi aap hi bataaye inko!'
'Haan Adi. Tum theek keh rahe ho.' She looked at the three girls. 'Tumhare papa, aur mere Jijaji, yaaneki Jai ke papa bahut achche dost the. They grew up together, although your grandfather worked for jijaji's father and your father was almost 7 years younger. People even thought they were brothers, like a lot of people thought about their fathers to. When jiju and didi fell in love their families were against it because of some family feud. Your papa helped jiju and didi elope. Everybody was furious at the three of them. Log unko maarne ke liye dhundh rahe the, lekin sabse zyaada khatara tumhare papa ko tha, kyunki sab jaante the ki nahi jiju ke pitaji, nahin mere babuji apne bachcho ko kuch hone dengege. Sab ne tumhare papa ko dosh diya. Unke apne gharwalon ne saare rishte tor diye. But still he stood by jiju and didi. Helped them in whatever he could do. After a while everybody excepted jiju's and didi's marriage, only Nishikant-bhai's familiy never forgave him for betraying their employer. After that NIshikant-bhai moved to Mount Abu. He had married your mother by then. Nishikantbhai and Uday jijaji stayed friends and met initially every year in your house. But when Jijaji took over the company he could never give enough time to Nishikantbhai although they talked a lot over the phone. Jiju ne bahut kaha ki wapas Mumbai aajo but he refused. He wanted a simple life for his daughters. He never liked the city after he moved and he was afraid his girls would lose themselves in this make believe Mumbai. That is why he never took you here to meet us, and maybe even never mentioned us. He was scared of the city life.'
'Yeh sab to theek hai lekin hamere gardian Mr. walia kyun hai?' Pia asked mausi.
'Woh isliye kyonki tumhare papa Jiju ko bahut pyaar karte the. Unki family neh unko thukra diya, aur tumhari mama ek anaath larki thi. Jiju promised that he would take care of you if something happened. But Jiju and Didi left this world earlier. When they died Nishikant bhai came to Mumbai. You were realy small, you might not remember but he stayed here for two months. Because of his parents death Jai went into a shell. Tumhare papa ne hi usko sahara diya. Usko sambhala. Jai and bhai had a good relationship, but in these two months woh rishta aur bhi gehra ho gaya tha. Although Tarun, Adi and Jigyasa were older Jai had to take over the familybusiness due to circumstances. Your father was his biggest support at that time.'
'Jai vowed that he would do all the things that his father did and that included taking care of you. Nishikantbhai wasn't in favour of this, but Jai is Jai afterall. Usne apni baat manwaali aur saare papers par sign karwaliya. That is how it all happened. Jai loved your father a lot. He was very upset when he heard about your father. And I know he still is. Somehow he did not get the message ki tumhare papa chal base. When he came back a few days ago and found out he immediately contacted advocate Naraiyan in Mt. Abu and called you over.'
It took some time for the girls to take in all this information. They felt like they discovered a different Nishikant Dixit. A Nishikant Dixit they never knew. The family he helped, the people who had a place in their hart besides them were total strangers to them. But they were all very proud of their father. He was a loyal and loved husband, a loyal and loved father, and now they discovered, a loyal and loved friend to. And the best part was, was that he was equally loved by these people. That is why everybody in this house tried their best to make them feel welcome.
'Bani beta there are also some financial matters we need to look at.' Said Aditya.
'Ji Uncle, Kehiye.'
'Bani tumhare papa ki ek crore ki life insurance thi. You are his beneficiary. The insurance agency had contacted Jai, that is how Jai found out about Nishikant Uncle's death. Nishikant Uncle also had some savings and shares worth around 30 lakhs. And then there is your house. You guys have to decide what to do with the money and ghar kiske naam hoga.'
Pia and Rano immediately looked up to there elder sister for the answers.
'Uncle aap mere liye please insurance ke paise adha Pia aur adha Rano ke naam ek fixed deposit me kardena, yeh inki shaadi ke waqt kaan aayega.'
'Sure Bani. Aur ghar aur bacche hue paise kiske naam karna hai?'
'Ghar main chaahti hoon ki hum teenon ke naam ho, kyunki it is special to all three of us. Princess, Guriya. Theek hai na?' Bani asked her sisters.
'Haan di.' Both replied simultaneously.
'Aur paise?' Mausi asked.
'Paise main chahti hoon ki ek account mein hum teenon ke naam ho. Uski zaroorat paregi mausi.
Zaroorat, kaisi zaroorat, Bani?' Mausi was surprised by Bani's answer. Even her sisters wondered what Bani had thought of.
'Haan Mausi. In six months Rano will become an adult. In these six months I want to make all the preparations so I can take care of them by myself. Isiliye I will need the money.'
'Kya matlab Bani, you will move out after six months?' Asked Aditya
'Yes uncle, Mr. Walia is only Rano's guardian. And that only for the coming six months. After that we will need to take care of ourselves, hai na?'
'Bani I think you misunderstood Jai's offer. He didn't call you for six months. He wants you three to permanently live here in Mumbai. It was his intention to let you stay with him, but now he wants you to stay with us, so he can fulfil his promise to nishikant Uncle. And we know we can't force you when you are adults, lekin humko bhi bahut achcha lagega agar tum yahan rahoge.'
'Haan Beta.' Mausi chipped in to help Aditya.
'Hum sub ko bahut achcha lagega agar tum teenon humare paas rahoge. Jab tak tum humse thak na jao, ya tumhari shaadi na hojaye. And if we could have aur way we would never let any of you go. You are Nishikantbhai and Kiranbhabhi's children after all. And I have not seen our house so lively in the longest time. All because you three are here.'
The sincerity in Mausi words brought tears to Bani's eyes. She had a hard time controlling her emotions. She remembered how her mother would talk to her, explain things to her. Mausi had the same tone in her voice.
'Theek hai mausi, jaisa aap chahe.' Bani said while clearing her throat.
'Lekin meri ek shart hai. Hum yahan rehne ka kiraya denge, varna hum yahan nahin rahenge'.
Mausi and Aditya were shocked. They tried to persuade her a lot but Bani would not give in. She insited that this was the only way she would stay in Walia Mansion, now and when Rano turned 18.
'Ek request aur hai uncle'. Bani said.
'Main naukri karna chahti hoon. Kahin pe bhi, but I want to work, agar aap ko bura na lage.'
Mausi and Aditya explained that they won't mind her working, but she doesn't need to work.
Reluctantly Aditya and Mausi agreed, and left the study. In front of the door Aditya told Mausi that he would have to inform Jai about Bani's condition when they heard the sisters conversation.
Pia: 'Di, aap ne yeh kyun kahan ki hum kiraya denge?'
Kunki hum kiraya denge, Princess.' Bani answerd with a smile.
'Lekin kyu Di, jab who humko free mein yahan rehne de rahe hai, then why do you want to pay rent?' Pia asked again.
Bani patted Pia affectionately on her head.
'Woh isliye Princess kyonki jo muft me kisi ke ghar rekhte hai woh mehmaan kehlaate hai. Kehte hai mehmaan zyaada din kisi ke ghar rahe to achcha nahin lagta hai. People start to gossip. And I don't want anybody to say anything about Mausi and her family. They have been so nice to us. If we pay rent we will become paying guest. We will feel responsible for this house and because of that ek rishta is ghar ke logon se jurjaayega. I don't want to be a guest, I want to be a family member for as long as I stay her. Samjhi?' Rano and Pia both nodded there head in a firm yes.
'Aur ek baat.' Bani said. 'I want you both to be on your best behaviour. Tum dono ab bari aur samjhdaar ho gayi ho. Yeh hamara farz banta hai ki hum yahan jo pyaar aur izzat papa ko mila tha usko kayam rakhe. I don't want anybody in this house to regret their decision of supporting us, and thinking bad about papa and mama because of us and our behaviour. Princess, Guriya. Tum dono samajh rahi ho na main kya keh rahi hoon?'
'Ji didi. We promise. Jo aapne kaha hum wahi karenge. Hum yahan kisiko bhi shikayat ka mauka nahin denge.' Both promised.
Outside the study Mausi and Aditya beamed with pride and glowed with happiness after having witnessed the 20 year old girls maturity. She was truly Nishikant Dixit's daughter.
Aditya immediately informed Mr. Walia about the conversation he just had with the girls. He discussed every aspect of the conversation and also informed his brother-in-law about Bani's condition of paying rent and working.
Mr. Walia was surprised the girl did not keep an amount of the life insurance money for herself but gave everything away to her sisters. She only kept a share in the house for emotional reasons, and a share in the money so she could take care of her sisters. He was even more surprised when he heard that she wanted to work and pay rent. Aditya told him that Bani made it clear. She won't stay in this house without paying rent.
'Theek hai Aditya. Let her pay rent. Uski amanat samjh kar rakh lenge. We will give it back to her whenever she will need it.'
So it was decided. Bani, Pia and Rano had a new house, a new family.
