Chapter 6.1- Once upon a Time!
Manik's POV...(Finally*winks*)
"Daddy!!" I yelled happily as I saw him getting down of his car..
"Hey my little devil!" Dad too shouted excitedly and I didn't waste a single second in climbing his arms..
"You are back early!!!" I squealed excitedly clinging to him...
"Oh yes! I was missing my little boy a lot!" Dad said lovingly touching my nose and I giggled in his arms happily..
"Ohh! Like that! Did you miss mommy?" I exclaimed again and Dad laughed throwing his head back..
"Obviously! I missed her too! Where is she?" Dad said cutely and looked around for Mommy..
"She is in the kitchen! Cooking aaloo Paratha for me!" I said clapping my hands and Daddy shook his head..
"Son! How many times I have told you not to push your Mommy for work! She needs rest!" Dad scolded me lightly and I lowered my head with a embarrassed pout..
How can I forget that my little sister was coming. For that Daddy had told me that Mommy needs rest..
"Sorry Daddy! But I don't like the yukhhii food Butler cook!" I immediately complaint with an innocent pout and Dad pulled my cheek before walking towards the kitchen..
"Rumi honey!" Daddy called for Mommy and I rested my head on his shoulder not letting him go for even a little second...
"Here in the kitchen Karthik!" It was my Mommy's honey voice. Every time she spoke it tuned a sweet melody in my heart..
"Hey why are you cooking!?" Dad said worriedly. I raised my head to look at the most beautiful lady on the earth my Mother and second will be my little sister who will be coming soon...
"Manik was hungry and was almost throwing up the pasta butlers cooked up for him so..!" Mommy was the sweetest and Dad took her in a hug. Now I was almost sandwiched between my Mommy and Daddy but I love them both..
"I missed you both!" Daddy whispered pecking our foreheads..

"What we gonna do now?" I heard Mommy's fearful voice when I accidentally landed up in front of their room door chasing my Tom and Jerry ball it halted my movements..
"He is a dangerous man! But I have talked to him! He has given me a week time! I will arrange the money it's not a big deal!" Here comes my Daddy's all time calm voice..
"If you won't be able to pay the debt then?" It was Mommy again..
"It's not gonna happen! I will make sure of it! Just relax and take care of yourself!" It was Daddy again and I thought for few seconds..
The conversation they were having was the thing which was impossible to understand a seven years old kid like me but the thing I understood was that Daddy had to pay some debt and the man was dangerous. Daddy will save us..

"Mommy! Are we in danger?!" I asked Mommy the same night when she was putting me in the bed and I snuggled in her..
Mommy's eyes widened for a second and then her eyes were once again the same tender soft ones...
"No honey! We are safe! Daddy is here! He will take care of everything!" Mommy whispered staring in my eyes and I smiled..
"Daddy is my hero, you are my queen, and sister is my princes!" I exclaimed lovingly and hugged Mommy with all the love I had for her..
"Oh Manik! Mommy loves you so much!" I heard Mommy's emotional love filled voice and smiled..
I love my family...

"Manik! Manik! My charming boy wake up!" Five days later Mommy's whisper pulled me out of slumber and I woke up rubbing my eyes. Mommy was kneeling beside my bed and her face was wet with tears. It made me worried..
"Mommy! You crying!" I squealed horrified and immediately tried wiping her tears with my tiny shaky fingers..
"Am ok ba-by! You ha-ve to co-me with me!" Mommy stuttered holding my hand and I nodded frantically. I jumped off the bed and wore my slippers. Mommy too got up with loads of difficulty because of princess. She held my hand and we walked out of the room with quiet steps.
"Rumi!!!! Stoppp!!!" I heard a yell behind us and we both froze on our places.
My tiny brain was so small to process what was going around but I knew a little that we were in danger...
I felt Mommy's grip on my hand tight like hell and she slowly turned hiding me behind her. I too peeked behind her back clutching her saree tightly and my breath once again stopped because some Uncle was pointing gun on my Daddy's head. I shivered on my place and clinged to Mommy more..
"Khurana! Leave my wife and Son! It had nothing to do with them!" Daddy yelled and I stared at Daddy.
"Not so easily Malhotra! You have so many debts to pay!" That person whom Daddy called Khurana spoke..
"There are still two days left in the deadline! I have almost arranged all the money! Why are you doing this???" Daddy shouted trying to free himself from his grasp..
"Shut up!" That person shouted and punched my Daddy. It caused Daddy to fell on the expensive marble floor...
He! Freaking! Punched! My! Daddy!
"Karthik!!"
"Daddy!"
Mommy and me shouted hell horrified and run to get Daddy..
"Aww! Poor family!" Khurana tiched on us and we knelt beside Daddy. He sat on the floor holding his bleeding mouth...
"Just leave us alone! Take everything but just leave us alone please!" Mommy shouted hiding me and Daddy behind us..
"Oh yes! I have the papers! These papers says that you Karthik Malhotra is willingly handling all your shares and property to Me, Suresh Khurana!" He spoke utterly in disgust and threw a file in front of us with a pen..
Daddy stared at those papers and then at mommy..
"Just do it! Do it Karthik! Our son and daughter needs US not this money please!" Mommy pleaded folding her hands and without a second thought Daddy signed the papers..
We had nothing..
But still we were together...
And...
That was fine...
"Good! Very good!" Khurana spoke sweetly picking up the file and Daddy hugged us close to him. I buried my face in Daddy's chest and felt his lips on my head..
I was sobbing so was mommy..
"Now! The last thing I want is a beautiful night with your beautiful wife!" Khurana spoke again and I was too young to understand what is the meaning of a 'beautiful night' but Mommy gasped and the next moment I saw Daddy hold his neck.
"Shut the f**k up!" Daddy roared and punched Khurana. Mommy flinched in a corner and I hide in her arms..
We both were shivering and I really wanted the bad night to end soon..
Daddy and Khurana fought. When suddenly there was a loud sound of a gunshot.
Mommy screamed daddy's name and my voice was nowhere to be found...
I saw blood oozing out of Daddy's chest and he fell down with a thud..
Mommy and me crawled towards Daddy hastily..
"Kar-karthik! Please don't leave us!" Mommy cried holding Daddy's hands...
"Daddy!" I called him in a dazed tone...
My Daddy was dying!! My superhero was dying..
I placed my hand on Daddy's wound to stop the bleeding but it didn't help at all...
"I lo-love y-you Ru-mi!" Daddy mumbled breathlessly and rose a little to kiss mommy on her lips. I stared at them. They both were my whole world and my whole world collapsed in few minutes. Then suddenly Khurana came forward and grabbed my Mommy's arm..
"Hey! Leave my Mommy!!!!!" I roared and tried pushing him away but it went in vain because he was too much strong..
Daddy too tried getting up but he failed..
Oh God what was happening...
Be it a dream!!! Please! Please!
But it wasn't..
Mommy cried her lungs out when that monster dragged her with him and I tried freeing Mommy but he kicked me away. Then I saw him throwing Mommy in the room she shrieked in pain..
Princess...
"Mommy no!!!" I shouted and run to get her but that monster closed the door locked...
I banged the door with my tiny fists but it didn't help any..
"Man-manik!" I heard Daddy calling me and I stumbled back towards him. I knelt beside him and with loads of difficulty I put his head on my lap..
"Daddy! Wha-what's happening???" I cried out loud and Daddy cupped my cheek...
"Sa-ve yo-your Mom-mommy! And prom-promise me th-that you will sta-stay strong!" Daddy was panting...
"Don't leave me alone Daddy!" I begged crying out loud and Daddy cupped my nape making me bent close to him. He pecked my forehead and smiled at me..
"I lo-love you!" It was his last whisper and then his breathing was stopped...
My Superhero Was Dead!!!!!!!!
"Daddy!!!!! Daddy!!! No!!! I love you too!!! Daddy nooo! Open your eyes please!!! I beg you Daddy!!!!!!!" I was crying like hell and shook Daddy but he was no more...
Suddenly I heard Mommy's screams and I remembered Daddy's words..
"Save your Mommy!"
"Mommy!!! Mommy!!!" I shouted again and run towards the room which was locked..
"Open the door! Please don't hurt my mommy!!!! Please!" I was so helpless so so weak...
I banged the door but in return I just heard mommy screaming for me and Daddy...
"Karthik...Manik...!"
But daddy was no more and I was too weak to do anything..
I cried for God knows how long and suddenly the door flanged open. Khurana came out...
My eyes snapped up at him and he was buttoning his shirt...
I looked behind him and I just wished I could die right there because my Mommy was lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Her saree was torn and she was breathing heavily. I pushed Khurana away and run towards Mommy..
"Mommy! Oh Mommy!!!" I shouted like a maniac and knelt beside her. Mommy looked at me with half opened eyes and I placed my hand on her stomach..
"Princess!?" I called for her staring at Mommy's face and tears trickled down her eyes...
"She is gone!" Mommy spoke breathlessly and I screamed on pain..
Oh God! Why ??? Why so unfair??
"Baby! Listen to your Mommy!" Mommy started holding my hand and I cried...
"Mommy loves you! Dadda loves! We are going but you will live! Live for us! Because you will take revenge! For US!" Mommy whispered in my ear and I hugged her tightly..
"Please don't leave me Mommy!" I cried in her neck but she just hiccupped...
"Be safe my love!" I was Mommy's last words and she too was gone..
I cried in her neck...
I had lost everything...
"Mommy! Mommy!" I hiccupped and suddenly Khurana pulled me away from her...
"Leave me!" I kicked my legs as he was a killer! He had killed my family...
My hero...
My queen...
My princess...
"Shut up!" He slapped me and I fell on the floor. He hovered over me while I cried...
"You are a little piece of sh!t! A weakling! A smutty mouse! Son of a dog and a bitch! Your father was a bas***d and your mother was a s**t! You are a filthy little kitten! There is no way out for you!" He was shouting and shouting while I was crying...
He was right...
I was a weakling...
I was very weak...
I couldn't save my Mommy...
My Daddy and Mommy died in front of my eyes along with Princess I sat watching helpless...
But not anymore...
Suddenly I got the power to fight and pushed Khurana away.. I saw a decoration piece lying near.
Using my full power I hit it on his head and run out. I ran and ran and ran...

Nandini's POV...
"I ran and rann and ran..." Manik narrated a little of his story and I was sitting hell horrified, scared, sad. While he was sitting with head low and tears dripping off his chin..
I look at his friends..
Dhruv and Cabir were sitting on the floor near our couch staring at the ceiling. Abhimanyu was sitting on the dinning chair and was staring in his glass while Harshad was standing near the window staring at the stary sky...
Once again a thing was common in them and that was...
Emotionless, spot faces...
"Khurana Uncle?" I mumbled in disbelief staring at Manik's lowered face, his head snapped at me.
His eyes held fear...
"You don't believe me?" He asked horrified and I shook my head. I leaned more closer to him and cupped his cheeks. My own face was covered with tears but I wiped his and pecked his forehead..
"I believe you more then the breaths I take!" I spoke lovingly and my eyes held sincerity for my words..
I can't believe it...
My blood was boiling...
There was so much going on...
Khurana Uncle was a killer? A culprit..
All of a sudden I imagined a seven years old little Manik crying for his parents and my heart started bleeding. I jumped over him and hugged him tightly..
Only just listening to his story was hurting me so much and he tou went threw everything...
He hide his face in my hair and his hot tears wet my neck..
"It hurts so much Nandini!" Manik spoke in a tone filled with pain and I felt him the old seven years old who longed for his mother's warmth..
"I am with you! Shhh!" I too sobbed caressing his nape hair and he snuggled in me. I kissed his hair numerous time and he purred like a kitten in my warm embrace..
Much more of the story was left...
"What happened next?" I whispered lowly and he broke the hug.
"The night changed my life.."
And he continued with his story...

Ohhh God it was really very very very heartbreaking! I am crying! How can someone be so cruel! So now you have so many clues! Let's see how many of you are able to complete the jigsaw puzzle!
