CHAPTER-17

The conversation between Rukaiya and the Hakima's assistant is heard by somebody, who is none other than one of Jalal's spies. He tip toes from there as he did not want to get caught, and he sets the saddle on the black Arabic stallion and after this he mounts on his stallion. He rushes on his Arabic stallion in the town of Agra, as he had no time to waste, as time is very precious for him. He had to reach where Jalal had gone, the journey is long and will take a lot of time to reach, but he could not afford loosing time which is too limited for him. Jodha had been feeling empty since Jalal had left. As soon as Jalal had departed emptiness had arrived in Jodha's heart, she even began to feel restless and anxious with the passage of time, she felt that something bad is going to happen with Jalal. She tried every remedy which is possible to distract her from the thoughts of Jalal be it playing or telling stories to Salim or talking with the other begums in the harem, but nothing is sufficient enough to soothe her restlessness. At last she goes and prays to Kanha for Jalal's safety and she kept on praying again and again, time flew by now it is mid morning time, that is when Hamida Bano enters her chamber and Jodha is so engrossed in her prayers that she is not aware of Hamida's arrival, so she calls her out. Jodha gets up with jolt and fixes her pallu which had been misplaced because of getting up suddenly and she plasters a smile on her beautiful, yet worried face and does Pranam. Hamida smiles at her and asks- Jodha beta tumhe kis bat ki chinta hai, dekho toh tum kab se yahan baithe ho? Kya hua ?

Jodha tries to coax herself and says- Ammijan aap aise hi varyat mai chinta kari rahi hai. Hum bas aj kanha ki bhakti karna chacte hai. HB says- Bahut karli dua tumhne Jodha ab jao bistar par aur aram karo, varna Jalal humse khafa hojayenge kyunki unhone hume apka khayal rakhne ko kaha tha aur hum yeh bhi nahi chacte ki tumhari tabiyat phir se kahin kharab na ho jaye. Jodha tries to protest- Ammijan... but, she is quietened by HB and she says- Hum kuch nahi suna Jodha, abhi ise vakat mai bistar mai jao. Jodha knew protest would be of no avail so she obediently goes to her bed and covers herself with her quilt. HB says- Aab thek hai. Aur bistar se mat uthna pehle tori der aram farmao phir jo karna hai karna. Jodha nods indicating a yes. Hamida leaves the room and Jodha closes her eyelids in order to get some sleep, but again to no avail. She opens her eyes and blankly stares at the ceiling and soon gets lost in the thoughts of Jalal and she had no clue when her eyelids closed and she got lost in the world of dreams where only she and her Jalal were permitted. On, the other hand it is afternoon when Jalal and his co. have reached the outskirts of Agra, the journey had been tedious and tiring, but Jalal had no wish to halt and take rest, as the journey is long and the more time he rested more the time he will be away from his Jodha. All the while he is travelling he could not stop thinking about Jodha, what she might be doing right now. The sun is up high in the sky, correction clear blue sky shining mercilessly on Jalal and his co.; being successful in the attempt to make their journey more tiring. Suddenly a group of masked men on their stallion appear with their swords drawn out. Jalal and his co understand the urgency of the situation, and they also draw their swords. Both the groups ready to wage a battle, but there is huge difference between them one is thirsty for blood and the other are ready to protect themselves. Jalal had been provoked as he hated being interrupted while he is at work and is ready for fight. The battle begins Jalal fights on his stallion for some time and later jumps off his stallion and starts fighting on the ground. Jalal appeared to be winning as they were well trained warriors compared to the opposition group. Jalal had been fighting with all his might; his sword fighting skills were very good and nobody is capable to harm him. The battle went on for some time as soon Jalal and his co. emerged victorious, Jalal had ordered his soldiers to put up the Khema's and had asked Todarmal to investigate the matter. Jalal had been sitting on his bed in the Khema again thinking about his beloved when the Hakima arrives to inspect his wounds. He has a few minor and major wounds here and there the hakima puts lep on his wounds and requests him to rest. Jalal lies on the bed and dozes off and dreams of Jodha. It is mid afternoon when both of them get up, refreshed as they were dreaming about each other and their souls somewhat at peace. That is when the spy reaches Jalal's Khema he thanks Allah as he had reached before night fall otherwise it would have been very late. He requests the soldier outside Jalal's Khema that he wants to meet Shehanshah. Jalal asks him to come and inside and asks him why did come here. The spy recites the whole conversation between the Hakima's assistant and Rukaiya Jalal gets very angry after hearing this he says- Hum tumhe chodenge nahi Rukaiya, hum toh tum pe pehle hi shak tha, ab jab yeh shaky akin mai badal gaya hai toh tumhra kya hashr hoga Allah he jane, aur agar humari Jodha ko kuch bhi hua toh hum tumhe zinda nahi chodenge. He puts on his jama in a hurry and mounts on his stallion and leaves for Agra with few soldiers. He is rushing on his stallion like never before, he could not afford losing time, every moment seemed to be heavier on him compared to the other moment that whether something bad might have happened to her, later he shoos of the pessimistic thoughts. He is continuously praying to Allah to protect his beloved until he arrives. By, now the sun has begun to set down, and this gave Jalal chill to the bone. He is more worried than ever. On, the other hand in Agra Rukaiya is ready with the poison and mixes it in the kheer slowly enjoying each and every moment of pouring the poison after mixing it. She proceeds towards Jodha's room and there Jodha is sitting on a couch as soon she sees' Rukaiya she gets up and does Pranam and responding to that Rukaiya does Adab . She gives an evil smile which Jodha does not notice and says - Jodha Begum hum ap ke liye Kheer laye the. Kaha kar toh dekhiya. Jodha is in no mood to eat since Jalal had left her appetite seems to be lost so she declines politely. This irritates Rukaiya , but again she masks her calm face and says - Jodha Begum kaha kar toh dekhiye humne kitne pyar se mangwaya hai. Agar ap nahi khogi toh hume bura lage ga. Jodha reluctantly nods. On the other hand Jalal had entered Agra, but still he is far away from the palace. This when Jodha takes the bowl from the tray and after this Rukaiya dismisses the maid who had brought the Kheer. Jodha says- Dhanywad humare bare mai itna sochne ke liye Rukaiya Begum. Rukaiya gives a fake smile and says to herself- Agar tumhare bare mai nahi socheenge to kisi ke bare mai sochenge Jodha Begum, har vakat humare rasta ka kanta jo ho tum. Humesha hume chub ti rahti ho, ab is chuban ko dor karna toh padega is liye toh hume tumhare bare mai itna sochte hai. Jodha is about to take the first bite...

Promo- Jalal the teacher and Rukaiya the student in short Rukaiya ki class and Rukaiya reveals something to Jodha which Jalal had decided to inform later when she is completely alright.
