Even today almost every royal woman are pro in these art forms. All of them know how to play one instrument or the other(Veena is the most preferred one). They are good in painting, cooking, singing, horse riding. In the 15th century, Rajput royal woman were taught these art forms because the idea of a 'sarvagun sampann woman' was ingrained in the DNA of the royals. There were no two ways about it.

Yes. Not the sword bit today 😆, but horse riding, cooking etc was definitely preferred. Singing was limited to only Bhajans. Anything else was considered "down grade".

A few of my aunts sing Bhajans & have been trained in horse riding as little girls. Cooking of ofcourse, too.

The sword bit is now given a miss.😆 The rest are very much a part of royal upbringing. Yes. Royal women restricted themselves to bhajan.

Ok. You have a royal lineage. Then, you know these things better than me. 😊As you said horse riding, cooking etc are art forms that have to be perfected. Considering how particular royals are till date, we can only imagine how compulsory it would have been for a 15th century woman. They would have surly excelled in these forms of art.

15th century? Most definitely!!! The only visits that they were allowed were temple visits! Neither were they allowed to dance like Jodha did. It was considered most Im-proper.
Till even now any of them don't.

They all are very soft- spoken & very very elegant! Their walk has as much grace, and humility. As it has arrogance.

even i do many of these things. i don't handle sword, but i handle gun , thanks to being NCC cadet.

i m just saying, even in today's world, though the girls r career minded, many r very good at basic things, like cooking, having some or other hobbies like dancing/singing.

then these r Royals. in 15/16 century . trained to be perfect in everything.

Yup...dancing even in the midst of their family alone was considered absolutely improper. Almost always the dance girls were of a particular lineage where mothers/carers passed on their kalaa - These dancers were trained in dance to entertain others - be it in temples (for e.g. Bharatnatyam dancers were called Dev-daasis - servants of the Lord since they never married - some were mistresses of the pandits in the temple) or in palaces for entertainment of Royals...
Even though royal ladies might have learnt singing, singing in front of other MALES wasn't encouraged ...precisely why Meera Bai faced a lot of grief from her in-laws (on top of many other things of course!)

Literature, art, knowledge on the other hand was encouraged...😊cooking was taught in case the royal family ever had to be exiled or live in secrecy - then the royal ladies'd have to know to be able to carry out all tasks a common lady did too!

Horse-riding might have been common throughout the country..but I've never come across Sword fighting as commonly depicted/mentioned amongst princesses in the South...Archery yes..not sword-fighting!
However, the Rajputs were a warrior clan and I'm quite certain many Rajput princesses would have been taught this art!

However, it is no hidden knowledge that Royal Rajput women had to learn the art of singing, dancing, cooking, making decorative pieces or embroidery, basic knowledge of weapon handling etc etc. it was used to be an integral part of what they were taught since kids. They had to master these arts, it was almost mandatory. Any one from the royal lineage will vouch for the above written comment. Even today royal women have to learn these art forms(if not all then most of them).

👍🏼
And when did being an all rounder, as you aptly pointed out, is a matter of being mocked 😕
Poor Jodha ...kare toh bhi mare, na kare toh bhi 😭

Jodha may have been from a tiny tin pot principality but she was royal to the very tips of her toes.
Beautiful, honest, courageous, kind, proud and arrogant.⭐️
