hey, i've been thinking the same for ages, good post! i haven't managed to go through the whole thread yet, but just wanted to write what i thought before i forget :) i am a sanaya fan and a barun fan and i love and respect them both, for their talent as well as the dignity and grace with which they conduct their lives.
i dont expect every ipk fan to love or even like both actors. many people have loved barun from bhph days and even before and many people have loved sanaya from mjht and before. and some have loved them individually from ipk. i would say i love them equally, from ipk, but since the show closure and the sheer volume and awfulness of the posts bashing barun i have become much more protective of barun now.
as an unbiased fan of both who's been on the forum a while i have to say the majority of bashing posts, and the vilest things said, have been against barun or his fans. whether being blamed for show closure or worse, a pattern has emerged where even in the most innocuous thread a random disgusting comment will just turn up about barun and rile up everyone there who will then retaliate.
as far as i've seen, there are some instigators who have nothing to do with ipk and are just trying to create fights to, i dont know, maybe get the forum closed down. however there are a few sanaya fans who will always just turn up in a barun thread, pass a snide comment or two, and then bring in reinforcements and wait for the fireworks. i have hardly ever seen this in a sanaya post.
as far as i can see barun fans mostly just defend him or themselves, which they have the complete right to do because how long can you let people get away with saying vile things. they do not pointlessly turn up in droves in sanaya posts and say awful things about her. for a long time, barun fans kept their silence and mostly ignored it. but even after the heightened emotional state everyone was in after november, these posts have just continued and gotten worse, and now the fight is two-sided.
i comment on both their profiles, but on sanayas profile i have to read each comment carefully before i like it because again there have often been snide things said about barun, unprofessional co-stars, sarun fans, jodi lovers, barun lovers etc etc. and of course there are those people who comment on her profile and always like my comments, who i then find on baruns profile disliking pages and pages of comments including mine and then writing awful things about him and wishing him misery, failure and all sorts of harm.
i do not find ANY barun fans on sanayas profile doing the same thing. and the most anyone might say on his profile is dont bring the jodi here. i was looking at the earlier comments for both of them from 3 years ago and again i found pages and pages and pages of dislikes on baruns profile from sanaya fans. but i only found a few on sanayas profile from barun fans.
at one point, i was so disillusioned with some of the things that sanaya fans were saying that i hardly wanted to even comment on her profile. i would read some disgusting, awful comment about barun and next to it i would see a dp of a beautiful smiling sanaya, and i really had to disassociate her from them. and as a sarun fan, i was often made to feel unwelcome on her profile when i read comments about how sarun fans were just pretending to like her and were either really barun fans or had wierd ideas of confusing reel with real, and sanaya didn't need them.
in my opinion, apart from the odd few, most barun fans dont actively dislike or hate sanaya and only use her name for retaliation when her fans descend. but many sanaya fans actively hate barun and often say poisonous, hateful things about him without any provocation. both sanaya fans and barun fans are in this fight. but sanaya fans nearly always start it and barun fans do not hold back in finishing it. but their retaliation is not the actual problem, if some-one didn't start it, there would be no fight!
so like i said, while i love them both and really want them both to be successful, i am now much much more protective about barun. the more rubbish i read people saying about him, the more they cross the boundaries of decency, the more ridiculous the insults and the name-calling, the more i feel its necessary to support him. and i really, really object to being told i am a teenager, i am jobless, i am insane, i am a fangirl, i have no taste, i will grow up and outgrow barun, i am a blind worshipper, etc etc etc.
anyway, sorry for the the long post but i wanted to say this for a really long time. and i think as long as there are so many, without reason barun bashing posts, this vicious cycle of bashing both of them is here to stay unfortunately. and unless the admin bring in stricter measures we just have to live with the bashing or ignore it.
