In some context a spoiler is referred to as a person or thing that spoils.
When a spoiler is given it is basically a short summary of a track that is aimed at revealing the plot which in turn makes it easy for viewers to guess or assume the outcome of that particular track.
Having said that;
We must know that the TV industry depends on viewer for their success. In order for a viewer to fully enjoy what is being produced there need to be some element of suspense, and drama. Revelation of such plots can kill or "spoil" the joy viewers would have otherwise experienced had it not been revealed.
There are some people like me who do not care for the spoilers but read it anyway.
Taking yesterday's case in example a spoiler was given but some information was quite misleading and that went on to cause unrest.
The spoiler giver later retracted her statement but still all is not well because there are people who were happy with the spoiler as it was previously.
The people who give spoilers do it out of goodwill and I don't think they deserve our undying devotion for doing so. It's a choice they make and when they make that choice they need to take a few things into consideration such
Some people will like their spoilers and others won't
Their inbox will be flooded with PMs because it's a public forum filled with loads of impressionable fans (some will be nasty)
In general the spoiler giver need to be prepared for the backlash when spoilers turn out wrong or when scripts change last minute...It is a risk they're taking so they should consider all this and not blame their predicament on a few rude forum members. The decision's is always theirs to make.
We also need to keep in mind that a spoiler giver is an ordinary forum member who needs to abide by forum rules as well and should be treated as such. It also very mean to personally attack and start name calling of a spoiler giver. They should not be put on a pedestal just because they give a spoiler but based on their behavior within the forum.
