You summed it up so beautifully Rima. I love Khushi's antics no matter how silly ...the girl is broken inside...I can see that visible in the eyes.
Root Cause Analysis of Khushi's change
Businesses undertake Root Cause Analysis when ventures fail. Having given a training on this I know.
Being an ardent Khushi fan I was zapped and disappointed in her yesterday. It was unfair to trick ASR, public bathing is only secondary.
So after the initial shock was over I started thinking what made Khushi this way? Are the CVs even consistent in showing her like this? Jobless did I hear you say:) Well I have call in 10 mins and I had to do this before that:) I love Khushi that much,
So I traced my steps back to the past.
Here is an innocent girl in Lucknow. Full of trust in ideals and morals. She sets out to save herfather's shop and her sister's marriage. Instead she ends up humiliated with her dori torn and her sister's marriage breaking. First break in faith in ideals.
She picks herself up and goes on to face life with a smile. Then her footage is released to the whole town and she is humiliated publicly. Faith in goodness broken.
She picks herself up and goes to work. There she is insulted, dropped from the window, almost paraded semi naked, made to work in the parking lot and sent to work in dangerous working conditions where she almost dies. Faith in humanity broken.
She picks herself up again and she is blackmailed into working for the same man. She is again called a gold digger and other names. But she still gives in for her family and accepts the job. Faith in self esteem broken.
Daily in this house she faces humiliation as 'gold digger', police verification, aukaad, phati sari etc. She takes all the wounds in her heart and carries on. But faith in good behavior broken bit by bit.
Again she picks herself up and teaches a snobbish brainless girl and makes her inner beauty. But in the process she falls for the same man. And then she is almost kissed by this man and then told not to dream about him and is also called a gold digger. Faith in love broken.
She picks herself up again and goes on with life and she is forced cruelly into an engagement with a man she does not want to marry. Then she discovers he is married. Faith in loyalty, friendship, fairness, goodness broken again.
She breaks the engagement picks herself up and tries to tell the wife. The wife is too besotted to hear it and she keeps the truth to herself for the wife and the rest of the family. Faith in honesty broken.
She picks herself up and falls in love again and she looks forward to a proposal and happiness. But she is threatened into a contract marriage. Faith in dreams, love, life, happiness all broken.
She picks herself up again and mends the broken bonds. But everyday she is taunted, humiliated and made to sleep on the poolside. Whatever she does she is not given any credit or even simple acknowledgement. She fights for her basic rights like living conditions. Everyday her faith in fairness, love and human bond is broken.
She is also harassed by a pervert within the four walls of her own in-laws house. She struggles to keep it to herself. The man who should touch her and make her his wife, does't do so and the one who should not, tries to do so. Her faith in men is broken every day.
Every day, bit by bit, inch by inch, incident after incident Khushi Kumari Gupta has been broken down to pieces and no one is there to help her mend.
And after this analysis I understood, Khushi is not the sweet innocent girl I loved in Licknow till marriage. She is a woman who is hardened too early in her life, saddened too much with her plight and turned bitter inside.
The only person in her mind who has ruined her and yet woken her up as a woman, is this man she torments The only man she hates but from whom she also wants love because she wants to love him.
Khushi's behavior is a result of too many months of torment and repressed feelings that erupts in these mad and sometimes mean behavior of Khushi.
It is not ASR who needs healing and love and nurturing care, though in his own way he may (we will know this only when we know the past. Right now he has nothing to crib about except the Anjali fiasco).
It is Khushi who needs mending and healing and love and trust to revert back to the old Khushi.
Now I understand and accept the OTT, silly and mean Khushi she appears to the world, because I can see the million wounds that is hurting inside that no one has healed. And the only one who can heal it is the man she torments. Ironical!
