After 39.4 overs on Wednesday, the Delhi Capitals were in control, and on the verge of extending their perfect start. David Miller was doing his thing, winning his side a game they may have felt had slipped away. But then, something happened. Or rather, did not happen. A refusal to take a single off the penultimate ball meant Miller's great finishing act ultimately wasn't.

18:15 Local Time, 12:45 GMT: Three defeats in a row have left CSK on the back foot early in the season. They were thoroughly outplayed by Rajasthan Royals, but showed signs of life with the bat against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, posting totals above 200 in both games. The focus now shifts back to Chepauk as they take on Delhi Capitals. Home conditions, strong crowd support and an opportunity to regroup make this an ideal moment for CSK to get their campaign back on track.

Standing in their way are the Delhi Capitals, a side that’s beginning to find its rhythm and looks far more settled across departments. With power at the top, depth in the middle and a bowling attack that’s starting to click, DC will sense an opportunity to pile on the misery. Match 18 of IPL isn’t just another league game, it’s a clash between a team desperate to bounce back and another looking to build momentum.

The Chennai Super Kings, in contrast, have not even come close to winning this season. Not once. The Rajasthan Royals blitzed past them in Guwahati. The Punjab Kings coasted to a 200-plus chase, and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru put up a mountain of runs, the weight of which was too much to bear for CSK. But sport often has a way. Funny, quirky, strange - call it whatever you want - and it gives teams, players, and fans hope. That a different day will yield a different outcome, and lend to a vastly different mood.

And it is with that hope that CSK return to Chepauk. Once a fortress but in the recent past, increasingly and incredibly fallible. There may still be light at the end of the tunnel for CSK because, well, there is a sense that things may not get any worse. But it could yet be another incoming train, especially as the Capitals, hurt and wounded themselves, yearn for a riposte to get back on track, and to quell fears of derailment.

For Delhi, KL Rahul comes in with form and a strong record against CSK, while Khaleel Ahmed has been bowling better than his returns suggest and could strike early. Ngidi remains a big threat with his variations, especially his slower ones. Would be interesting to see the approach or CSK batters against the South African pacer, who has represented the Super Kings in the past and is very well aware of the conditions at Chepauk. CSK need a turnaround, but DC look the more settled side heading into this contest..
