That's a pretty competitive total posted by Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Electing to bat first, du Plessis and Kohli got the Challengers off to a decent start, but Kohli wasn't able to kick-on. Although the RCB openers added 50 runs between them, it was a rather rusty knock by Kohli, who wasn't at his fluent best. Maxwell walked in to bat at number 3 and looked positive from the outset. He struck a few lusty blows on his arrival, and along with Faf, Maxi had a 50-plus partnership for the second wicket. Both the in-form batters notched up their fifties, but Royals pulled things back in the last five overs as most of the RCB batters struggled to get going on this pitch. Just when it looked as if RR will finish the innings on a high, Anuj Rawat's cameo powered the visitors to 171/5. Not sure if it will be enough against a powerful batting line-up like RR. We'll be back in 10 minutes with Rajasthan's reply..

Mike Hesson: I think the score is a bit above par, depends on how well we bowl now. I think everyone who played in the middle, including Faf reckoned 160 would be good. I think that finish left us above par, good for Anuj too who has been shuffled around the order. We have a couple of injuries which forced our hand, but a good opportunity for Bracewell today with his finger spin. Doesn’t get any bigger, and we are aware of that. The gap between games, the first couple of days we were reflecting on what happened in Mumbai, but then to prep for this one. There’s been a lot of talk on how the surface has played, the bowlers have a clear indication of how to operate.

Mike Hesson: (On the score) I think it is slightly above-par. Everyone that batted thought something around 160 would be tough to chase. It (Rawat's cameo) will lift us. Good for Anuj as well, shuffled around a bit. We have always known he has the power, so good for him to do a job for us at the end. Last over may cost RR if Jaiswal becomes out early.

Wow, that was quite a finish at the end. Rawat ensuring that RCB got more than 170 with an 11-ball unbeaten 29. Earlier, du Plessis and Maxwell scored fifties, like they did in the reverse fixture and kept CB going through the middle. Maxwell, in particular, was very impressive with the way he kept transferring the pressure onto the bowlers. RCB now have 171 on the board, which on a surface that has not been very conducive to stroke-play, is a very good score to have.

As for RR, they would not be pleased with how they ended the innings. Prior to that, though, they did well to trigger a mini-collapse just before the onset of the death overs. At that point, it seemed they would restrict RCB to a score under 160. It did not quite transpire that way but with the firepower they have, they will back themselves to get the job done.
