Btw guys, here's a picture I posted on my Ramayan fan page. I found both the pics so similar! What do you guys think? Didn't Gurmeet and Debina do a wonderful job recreating the divine effect found in the painting? Or maybe it's Anand Sagar who told them to stand like that, I don't know.😆😳 But the deep love in their eyes is definitely not part of their acting. It was real.

No, it is not related to that incident. Here is how the story goes.

Puranas mention Sage Bhrigu as father of Goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu Goddess of wealth, fortune and auspiciousness. Some Puranas suggest that Lakshmi is the daughter of Varuna, the sea god. Here is the story of Goddess Lakshmi as the daughter of Sage Bhrigu as found in the Puranas.

The three worlds ' heaven, earth and netherworld ' existed in peace. To teach the inhabitants of the three worlds the secrets and mysteries of the universe, Brahma created seven mind-born sons and taught them the Vedas. They traveled around the three worlds and narrated the Vedas that was revealed to them by Brahma.

The seven mind-born sons of Brahma continued their divine work. The seventh son, Sage Bhrigu, wanted to know will wisdom satisfy hunger. The other six sons invoked Goddess Saraswati and gained enlightenment. But Sage Bhrigu wanted to find what satisfies hunger.

Sage Bhrigu set out to find what satisfies hunger and learnt from Varuna, the god of the sea, that everything in this universe is ultimately food. Soon Sage Bhrigu realized that Goddess Saraswati nourishes only the mind. He realized the importance of food and found that it is also equally important to nourish the body. With the help of his learning, he invoked Goddess Lakshmi, which nourishes the body.

For a balanced and happy life ' Goddess Saraswati, that nourishes the mind, and Goddess Lakshmi, that nourishes the body, are equally important.

Sage Bhrigu then composed the Bhrigu Samhita, which helped sages and other learned men to know future and thus sustain what was provided by Goddess Lakshmi. The sages who learned Bhrigu Samhita believed that Goddess Lakshmi was the daughter of Sage Bhrigu.

Videh litreally means "one who does not have a body"... and here's the story behind the epithet "Videh"

Long back, there was a ruler called King NIMI. He was Knowledgeable and Powerful, at once he decided to perform the 'RAJSUYI YAGNA' and he invited his family guru, Sage VASISTA to be the priest. when stipulated day of 'yagna' arrived he found his guru was missing, In the absence of his guru he performed the yagna with help of sage GAUTAM. Guru Vasista arrived later and furious about NIMI performed yagna with in his absence. In that spur of the moment he CURSE nimi since you insulted me. You should dead with immediate effect, king nimi dead immediately. Kingdom was left any king but the sage Gautama sought the help of all eminent sage. Together, they made an attempt to bear a child from nimi corpse. Eminent sage churn (manthan) his body in milk and get a princes who was born from nimi's corpse was named MITHI because , he was born out of a churning of milk and then he established the city of MITHILA. There after whoever became king of mithila named VIDEH or JANAK. 'VIDEH' because they were born out of a corpse and 'JANAK' because all those kings were like a father to their kingdom. King Janak (Seerdhwaj) was the thirty seventh generation of king mithi. That is how the mithila named and king janak ruled the mithila that's why named JANAKPUR.

But as Viz said, Raja Janak was also called 'Videh' because he showed the application of "karma Yoga" in a manner unparalleled by any other human being up to that point of time. He achieved liberation even whilst still in his human form.

It is truly wonderful! I mean, I loved knowing this...Thanks Vedo 🤗 Please keep sharing such wonderful informations!
I think the Sage mentioned here is maharishi vashista only...The only thing I am finding wrong is the "Kulguru thing" May be it is misprinted. They must mean the Family Guru thing for Maharish Gautam, Like janaki said I also think that maharishi Gautam must be the Kulguru of their clan and so maharishi Satanand has taken over after him.

Hmm, I can't think of too many but I really love many of the lines from Bal Kand! Especially with Ramji at Mithila.😳 Are there any clever lines during Ram and Sita's first meeting at the pushp vatika?

There is one I can remember at the top of my head...I think it's when Sita Maiya sees Shri Ram for the first time...Tulsidasji tells us she looks at him from "toe to head"...as opposed to "from head to toe"...indicating to us her cultured and shy nature. Will look for the actual verse. 😃

Janu, here's the verse I was talking about earlier:

"...nakha sikha dekhi rama kai sobha, sumiri pita panu manu ati chobha."

"...Surveying Shri Rama's beauty from head to foot in the reverse order and remembering her father's vow she felt much perturbed."

Sita Maiya, the embodiment of feminine virtues, looks at the Lord beginning from his feet and gradually moves upwards...
