The nephew was Samba, son of Jambavati. He interrupted the swayamvara of Duryodhan's daughter Lakshmanaa and abducted her. The Kauravas outnumbered & captured him, and imprisoned him. Since Krishna was out w/ the Pandavas after their exile, Balarama was asked to rescue him. He went as an envoy to Hastinapur & pleaded w/ Dhritarashtra & others to release Samba, but as one might expect, he got insulted by his pupil Duryodhan and everyone else. Of course, that got him royally pissed, and using his hala, he uprooted Hastinapur & put it in the middle of the sea. 👏 Dhritarastra & Bheeshma got so shit scared that they not only released Samba, but gave Lakshmanaa away along w/ him as well. 😆 (The same Samba who gave birth to a mace: I guess that would have made Lakshmanaa its 'dad'? 😆)

Actually, this was the basis on which Duryodhan, like Arjun, approached Krishna b4 the war. Duryodhan couldn't have asked Krishna to support him on the basis of Subhadra, but he asked him to support him on basis of Lakshmanaa.
