What a disappointing episode it was!! And what a waste of our Dear Amir's time!! I really felt bad for him as he sat through the episode bearing a forced smile pretending to enjoy the weird stuff going on the stage.
The show lasted approximately 1.5 hrs or around 90 mins. 5 singers sang songs (actually half length songs) around 4 mins each, so 20 mins of singing time. That means 70 mins of rubbish (including the ads that nobody cares about)!!! That makes Indian Idol a Variety Show with a bit of singing thrown in as another form of entertainment.
What the heck is Abhijeet doing? Making an a*** of himself? For Christ's sake, he is an Indian Idol and a good one at that. How come the whole focus of the episode from being a Top 5 competition became 3 idiots?? That is the biggest block buster movie of all times, it doesn't need further promotion (Sony is promoting it every freaking day for the last 4 months anyway). They even showed 5 mins of the movie, because they didn't know how to fill the time. Amir playing with a toy helicopter to remind us of his role in the movie? God save this show at the next stage, when there are fewer singers left. We have to put up with more childish and inane pranks of overgrown adults. Good god I had a DVR and I quickly forwarded stuff that did not involve singing or Amir.
When we had 10 singers we had 10 songs in the same amount of time and now we just get 5 and we have to put up with a video of Abhijeet's bloopers in addition to all the nonsense.
Seriously the creative team at II should wake up and learn to balance the entertainment and Singing parts of this show. All other Idol shows are primarily singing shows. Let's hope II learns to follow them and focus on singing. Missed a glorious opportuntiy to make their Top 5 Sing twice!!
II please wake up before this show loses its importance as a genuine platform to identify singers and not an alternative to Comedy Circus.
