DH and OOTP countdown updates

MuggleNet's Resident graphic designer Dylan has updated their Deathly Hallows/Order of the Phoenix countdown with a brand new design. If you've already added the countdown to your MySpace, LiveJournal, etc, the changes should be visible (refresh if they're not).

New today, we have individual countdowns for both Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows if you wish to only have one or the other. They are both available for your website at this link. Enjoy!

One day left for entries

Tomorrow, April 15th, is the last day for entries in the Magical Tours T-shirt design contest. The winning entry will get a spot on Magical Tour's trip this summer, Illuminating Harry's Wondrous World - An Adventure for MuggleNet Fans, to visit the filming locations of the movies. Airfare to Europe is included for the grand prize winner. Click here to view the rules.

First Ads for "There Will Soon Be 7" Scholastic Campaign

The first of the new ads for the Scholastic "There Will Soon Be 7" Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows release campaign has now been spotted. The new issue of "Entertainment Weekly" magazine contains a full page ad bearing this new logo for book seven, which is part of the marketing campaign that Scholastic, the US publishers of the Harry Potter series, is set to formally launch this Tuesday.

Another Rumor on Harry Potter Theme Park in Orlando

Yet another rumor has surfaced online about a possible Harry Potter attraction at a major theme park in Orlando, Florida. As we reported back in February, persistent rumors abound regarding this issue (Jo denied the Disney park rumor last year), including this new report about the Universal park again from Deadline Hollywood Daily, which claims:

"Universal Studios Florida is finalizing terms to bring a type of "Harry Potter World" to its Orlando resort. The entire themed area would be at a previously unused portion of the amusement park. The negotiations have been kept uber-secret."

This is the second report now involving Universal, and TLC is trying to obtain some additional information on this and will update with more when we can. However, in the meantime please keep this very much in the rumor category for now.

ABC Family Harry Potter Weekend Again

Many of you let us know that cable channel ABC Family is running another "Harry Potter Weekend." Starting today, the popular family station is rebroadcasting Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets two times in a row starting at 3pm (EDT), then tomorrow they will do the same for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban starting at 5pm (EDT). These will include the deleted scenes that were not shown in theaters, but later included as extras on the DVDs. Finally, next Saturday, April 21, the main ABC station will be rebroadcasting Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone starting at 8pm (EDT). At this point, while we can not be certain, we do not believe there are any plans to air any OotP previews during the commercial breaks of these movies like they did last December (those video clips, here), and we will update should this information change.

Actress Julie Christie who plays Madame Rosmerta, the landlady of our favorite Three Broomsticks Inn in the Harry Potter films, celebrated her 66th birthday yesterday. Belated Happy Birthday Julie! Cheers!

Wizard of the Month archives now complete

April 14, 2007

The Harry Potter Lexicon has now completely updated its Archive of images from the Wizard of the Month calendar section on jkrowling.com.
It's hard to believe that they've had three full years worth of Wizards of the Month already, since Jo launched her new website on May 15, 2004! With this archive it's interesting to see the transition of the images from the early muted toned drawings to the more recent brighter and larger designs that on occasion extend far out of the frame. I hope you enjoy this visual time-turner! .

Happy, Happy Birthday, Birthday Emma, Emma!

Double the birthdays, double the fun today for Harry Potter actresses Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawny) who celebrate their respective 17th and 48th birthdays today! Many happy birthday wishes to them both!
