hmmmmm...my first reaction whenn i read this news..it was irritation...

from day one, book one ..i was with harry-ginny and ron-hermione ships....
even when cho came into harry's life...some part of me said that....shes just a passing cloud....ginny is the one for harry...
the same goes for ron-hermione.....
i accept with many here...a strong relation means..it doesnt conclude that its a romantic relationship...
it can be a friendly relation or a brother-sister or sister-sister for that matter any relation...
i know...since harry, hermione, ron r the main characters of the story...once jk said that ..our mind goes to the romantic relationship thing...natural human tendency..
but it necessaryly need not be the thing she implied when she was saying that....

and here all r giving examples n hints from the books supporting their couples...instead y not pick out the points why Harry-Ginny and Ron-Hermione are couples in the book?? ...instead of searching for so called hidden hints between harry n hermione....
we will get the answers ourselfs...
because..any person become frnds with others or love them only when u like them...
even if u want to be frnds with some one..basically u need to like him or her...u cant go n become buddies with some one whom u hate..
so u couldnt say whetehr they share a romantic feelings just by saying that they understand each other well...they like each other ..
hope i dint confuse u all....was just trying to put in my thoughts

@Lalitha - Sorry for replying late :)
I see the point about the epilogue, but we don't know what happened between their graduation and the epilogue. Like you mentioned, they got married way after they graduated, which means there are endless number of possibilities of what might have happened. A point which should be noted here is that the epilogue focused more on their indivisual [Harry, Ron, Hermione & Ginny] feelings and not collectively as different couples. Particularly Harry, to be precise. I personally feel that the epilogue was the worst part of the series, not because H/G and R/H got married, but because of the hasty and rough writing.
Like I mentioned before, H/Hr had consciously or unconsciously accepted the fact that there can never be anything more than a brother/sister relationship between them, hence they did not even realize the possibility of something else happening. They delusioned themselves by strongly believing that Ron and Ginny [respectively] are the ones for them, and there's no looking beyond that.

referring the bolded part..i agree..Epilogue made the ending not that gr8..as it shud have been..Personally..I felt..that the 19 yrs later shud not have been shown..I mean main story ends at the end of 7th year..so after defeating voldermort..the story shud have ended....

It's so nice to see JKR acknowledge the H/Hr bond and that it could have possibly gone that way, so it's not so "delusional" after all 😊

I disagree. Why would they delusion themselves? Hermione tried to convince herself that she felt nothing for Ron, couldn't she have reacted the same way with Harry if she had those kind of feelings for him?

JKR's comment here adds as much as her comment about Dumbledore being gay. What on earth does that add to the series? Nothing.

Also, JKR had expressed her shock to an interviewer who asked if Harry and Hermione will get it on and she was like 'really?? you think so?'. So if she thought that then why did she have to add these bizarre thoughts now like 'it could have gone that way'.....is it just to please the H/Hr shippers or her dear friend Kloves who loves them?! 😕 I just think she added all these controversial comments AFTER the series was over to maintain the hype and curiousity.

You could be right, but I think H/Hr were somehow written a lot more beautifully and more compellingly than JKR had intended, then maybe she over time realised exactly what H/Hr shippers saw in them, even if that wasn't the way it was supposed to come across.
Anyway, it's just nice to hear her say stuff about that, because parts of the fandom were so mean about H/Hr shippers at one point!

Hermione never tried to convince herself that she had no feelings for Ron, the combative chemistry was always brewing [as per JKR], she just realized it in the 7th book. But as far as Harry is concerned, she never even considered the possibility of them getting together. Her rationality never allowed her mind to go in that direction, because it had always been - 'Harry & Hermione: Platonic friends, like brother & sister'. Even if subconsciously she did feel something for him, it never came to the surface, it would mean breaking all parameters.
Well her statements don't necessarily have to add something to the series. Harry Potter is one series with multiple layers, and while reading we don't always peel all of them. So what if JKR wanted to peel yet another layer ? R/Hr are canon, nothing can change that, but there's also no denying the fact that H/Hr share a bond that is exclusive of the 'Trio' friendship.
I don't know why she made this statement, but whatever the reason maybe, I'm glad she did 😉

If I had it my way, i would ALWAYS want Draco & Hermione together..
OMG, I'm so obsessed with them..
Oh, how I wish that they both would be together.. Though Jo already kinda made it obvious that Ron & Hermione had a thing going on.. But, it would have been so cool & unexpected if Draco & Hermione would end up together..
And if u look at it, they kinda even look like made for each other types..

U can see by now how obsessed I am with them.. I completely drifted from the topic of conversation..

I wouldn't like to see them together, not because of some foolish reason that they seem brother and sister or whatever, but just because, there's something so special in their friendship that would be ruined if given another name. I think it's one of the best example of what real friends actually are like.

Also, I think someone mentioned it, I also feel Harry and Hermione's story came out much more beautifully crafted than JK Rowling had perhaps ever intended to in the first place, reason being why she maybe started contemplating about them getting together. But Ron and Hermione's always been the cats and dogs fight, and since that first train trip, I think it was slightly obvious they may end up together. There just were the sparks out there!

I happened to read the last post just before I posted this, which talks about Draco and Hermione. A bit off-topic, but now that I ponder upon it, come to think of it, it wouldn't be such a bad idea at the first thought perhaps. Malfoy and Granger would make an awesome couple if only Malfoy had not gone way into insulting her in previous books. But since he did, I think they wouldn't have suited each other actually. Would have destroyed Malfoy and Granger's character both!
