@Lalitha - Sorry for replying late :)
I see the point about the epilogue, but we don't know what happened between their graduation and the epilogue. Like you mentioned, they got married way after they graduated, which means there are endless number of possibilities of what might have happened. A point which should be noted here is that the epilogue focused more on their indivisual [Harry, Ron, Hermione & Ginny] feelings and not collectively as different couples. Particularly Harry, to be precise. I personally feel that the epilogue was the worst part of the series, not because H/G and R/H got married, but because of the hasty and rough writing.Like I mentioned before, H/Hr hadconsciously or unconsciously accepted the fact that there can never be anything more than a brother/sister relationship between them, hence they did not even realize the possibility of something else happening. They delusioned themselves by strongly believing that Ron and Ginny [respectively] are the ones for them, and there's no looking beyond that.

JKR's comment here adds as much as her comment about Dumbledore being gay. What on earth does that add to the series? Nothing.
Also, JKR had expressed her shock to an interviewer who asked if Harry and Hermione will get it on and she was like 'really?? you think so?'. So if she thought that then why did she have to add these bizarre thoughts now like 'it could have gone that way'.....is it just to please the H/Hr shippers or her dear friend Kloves who loves them?! 😕 I just think she added all these controversial comments AFTER the series was over to maintain the hype and curiousity.
I disagree. Why would they delusion themselves? Hermione tried to convince herself that she felt nothing for Ron, couldn't she have reacted the same way with Harry if she had those kind of feelings for him?
