chapter 12
Men do tend to be clueless. Us women have to be clear in asking for what we want.

And, no I don’t have a blog. I’m prefer to be active on one site, I don’t have enough time to be handling so many things 🙂
hi.... still waiting for updates
when can you post the next chapter?
hi Harley-Quinn please be safe!
Hoping that you can continue
A/N: Super super sorry to everyone waiting for this. Its been a crazy few months for me. Thank you for loving this story. I've given a longer update than last time. Very very sorry for the delay.
Chapter 13
"Have you considered whether you'd accept the offer if you were to be given a chance to join the office?" Maan inquired handing the waitress the menu after they'd placed their order for breakfast.
"I don’t know yet" Geet answered honestly. He wanted honesty and that's what she'd give him. "If I accept, it means we work together in the same building. There can be positives, but there can be negatives as well" she stated as a matter of fact.
"What are the negatives you're thinking of?"
"People will assume my job was handed to me on a platter because you and I are married" she replied. Maan watched her for a moment silently, he was about to reply when the waitress brought over their hot drinks and breakfast.
"I won't be hiring you, Geet. It will be Adi. Finance is his department. Who cares what others thinks anyway?" he questioned once the waitress left. "You shouldn’t care about what others say. They don’t you nor do they have any right to make any judgements".
She pondered over his words thoughtfully, "Like I said, I'm not sure yet what my answer will be".
"Okay, I would hope that you'll accept" he sipped his coffee watching her over the rim of his cup.
They made small talk in between their breakfast bites, then headed outside after Maan paid the bill.
"C'mon, we'll drop you off" he opened the door for her.
"You're going to be late for the office, you've already pushed your appointment for me. I can walk"
"Geet, I'm not going to argue with you here. Get in" he pointed.
"Maan, maine kahan na. I can walk. We're not even that far from…" she yelped when Maan held her hand and pushed her into the car and climbed in after her. "You, saru!" she cursed narrowing her eyes furiously.
"Like you said, I'm going to be late and I don’t have time to argue" he retorted. "Sandeep, drop Geet off first" he ordered.
Geet huffed rolling her eyes and crossed her arms in front stubbornly.
Maan shuffled and leaned his head closer, "Are you angry?" he asked quietly.
She didn’t reply.
"Sorry" he whispered.
She smiled this time, she turned her head and scowled mockingly. He smirked and shook his head at her. He pulled out his phone and checked through his emails, Geet watched him, his fingers tapping away at his phone as he responded to someone, his brows scrunched in concentration then the lines on his forehead relaxing and he looked satisfied when he checked another.
"Geet Madam, we're here" Sandeep informed garnering her attention, Maan turned his head to her and found her staring. She looked alarmed at being caught. He smiled faintly. Geet shrugged her shoulder and chuckled leaving the car, she gave him a brief wave and headed into the mansion.
"Have you calmed down now?" Naintara cheekily asked. "Did veerji kiss away all your complaints?" she teased.
"Really?" Geet rolled her eyes chuckling and headed upstairs, whilst she silently wondered what a kiss would feel like with Maan.
Would he kiss her gently, or kiss her with utmost passion? The same passion she'd witnessed when he did his work out.
Geet smacked her forehead, Stop overthinking jhalli. You're not even there yet
Sasha watched Maan curiously as he walked through the office, she could have easily counted on one hand how many times Maan had pushed his appointments. However, she noticed there was a growing pattern of him in the last week or two that he'd pushed his appointments or asked Adi or her to cover it without reason.
He usually always gave a reason, but this time and the previous few times he hadn’t said anything. Even when she'd casually asked, he'd hummed and went back to focusing his attention on his screen.
She wanted to walk into his cabin and ask him but decided to wait until Adi returned. She'd ask him and hope that he'd given a reasoning to Adi as to why he hadn’t visited the site.
Maan opened his laptop, he checked his calendar and noted his next appointments. After that, he'd grabbed the files from the shelves and reviewed the designs and read through the documents in order to prepare himself for the next appointment.
His attention was drawn to the knock on his door, he asked the person to come in whilst closing his file.
"Viren" he looked questioningly, he wasn’t expecting him to be here. "Didn't you go with Adi?" he inquired.
"No, I was just drafting the acceptance offer for the candidate. I just needed your signature" he answered.
Maan nodded, he hoped that Adi had chosen Geet inwardly. He remained composed and masked his expressions. He smiled within when he noticed the acceptance for his wife. He grabbed his pen and scribbled his signature and looked at Viren.
"Do you think this person is the right candidate?" he asked handing the letter back to him.
"Adi sir thinks so, and I feel the same" Viren answered with a smile.
Maan nodded, Viren then excused himself and walked out of the office leaving Maan alone with his thoughts.
He recalled their conversation during breakfast, he wanted to know Geet's answer. What if she says no?
He'll just have to convince her, he thought to himself.
She wouldn’t say no, would she?
Actually, she just might, Maan. She was after all your wife
"Adi" Sasha approached him just as he stepped off the elevators and followed him as he walked to his office. "Did MK say why he was running late today?"
"No" Adi frowned. "Was he supposed to tell me that?" he rolled his eyes.
"Adi, it’s a simple question".
"Sasha, I'm sure he's our boss. He doesn’t need to explain himself" he entered his office, he didn’t bother holding the door open for her. But she hadn’t cared and followed him into his office.
"Look, can you just answer?"
"What is it to you?" Adi placed briefcase down on his desk unzipping it and pulling his laptop out. "MK being late is none of our concern. He's our boss".
"You must know then!" she stated crossing her arms. "What did he say?" she demanded tapping her foot.
"MK didn’t give me a reason, he just said he is going to be late" Adi harrumphed shaking his head. Impossible woman! He thought.
Sasha eyed him for a minute as if she could look through his body and get the truth from his mind, she shook her head muttering beneath her breath and walked out of his office in a strop.
After Sasha had left, Adi picked his phone calling Viren and confirmed that the acceptance letter was scanned and emailed across to Geet Vihaan.
Geet looked up when she heard the car, she watched Maan curiously as he entered. He greeted dadima and Naintara, nodding at her with a small smile and headed upstairs.
"Dadima, I'm coming" she excused herself.
Naintara wolf whistled winking, Geet rolled her eyes at her sister in law and head to their bedroom. She entered their bedroom, Maan wasn’t around and realised he'd gone into the washroom. So, she'd settled on the edge of their bed and waited for him.
Maan stepped out, halted in surprise. At the same time, Geet looked up and found herself drinking in the sight of him. He'd stripped out of his blazer, waistcoat and shirt. A towel hung around his neck, water droplets were clinging to his face and sliding down his bare chest.
"Geet" Maan recovered and looked questioningly.
She snapped out of her reverie, clearing her throat and stood turning her back to him which had him smiling in amusement.
"Put on a shirt, Maan" she demanded.
"And, if I don’t" he teased though he was already by the wardrobe and pulling off a shirt from the hangers.
"Maan" Geet snapped which only had him laughing.
"Okay, I'm wearing one" he responded, Geet looked at him from the corner of her eyes to see whether he was telling the truth. What a shame, he was telling the truth. She thought before shaking off her thoughts.
"What's up?" he swiped his face with the towel before tossing it onto the sofa.
"I received an acceptance letter by email" she informed and watched his expression which remained neutral. "You knew?"
"Geet, it is my company. Of course, I would know" he replied.
"Did you have anything to do with it?" she queried.
He blanched and narrowed his eyes, "I told you the truth this morning. Everyone is responsible for the hiring of their own department".
"Maan, this letter has your signature" she pulled out her phone finding the email and showing him the attachment.
"I know, as does every letter in my office" he countered. "Geet, I wouldn’t be a very good boss or manager of the company if the approval doesn’t come from me. You're joining my firm, even if Adi is your manager" he explained.
Geet still looked sceptical.
"You're still doubting me?" he narrowed his eyes.
"I don’t know, I don’t know how companies work, alright!" she snapped. "You asked me about it and then I got this email. How was I supposed to think?"
"How about trust me?" he retorted. "Now, Geet how do you expect this chance to our marriage to work if you're already assuming, I'm lying?"
"I… I'm not assuming anything" she hissed though she hesitated.
"You can stop bullshitting me, Geet" he turned to leave the room when she stepped in front of him.
"I'm sorry" she apologised. He was right, if she didn’t trust him how was this chance between them work. She'd have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Maan still looked at her annoyed.
"Please" she held onto her earlobes and pouted her lips. "I'm sorry, Maan. Our conversation this morning then receiving the email, I just thought you put in a word and said something that had Adi choosing me" she explained, her lips pursing in a pout.
Maan sighed heavily, his shoulders relaxing as he responded, "Fine, next time ask and accept the truth. I wouldn’t lie to you, Geet"
"Okay" she nodded offering him a small smile.
He shook his head, unbelievable, Geet.
"C'mon let's go down" he told her then walked pass with Geet joining his side.
