Chapter 23

Kirsten gathered herself together and walked in determination.

"Hey you, jackass she called out loudly.

Geet cursed, she was feeling so much better having said her piece but that good feeling was slowly disappearing.

"Hey you!

Geet huffed and turned around as Kirsten strode over in determination.

"I am going to let that thing back there slide Kirsten started, "But next time, I am going to kick your ass because I can she informed. "And because I am an FBI agent! she added.

"And I've never wanted to punch an FBI until now Geet answered.

"You're never going to get that chance ever Kirsten replied smugly crossing her arms. "Listen here pretty face, I like you. You're my kind of girl but if you're going to shoot me directly for being nice then I won't be nice.

"Are you done?

"No, I am certainly not done! My best friend never said no to you she hissed, "His family did, he didn't say anything to stop them because he didn't think he was worthy of you but you know what, you're not worthy of my friend she finished then turned around walking away.

Geet watched wordlessly as Kirsten walked away, her good feeling was now turning shitty.

She glanced over at Maan who was concentrating on his task of boiling seawater, Kirsten's words ringing in her ears. Damn that cuckoo she thought as she turned around and went about to check on the passengers.

"Is there any news? Marissa asked Suneel as he joined his wife's side, the family members of the many passengers and crew members were all gathered in one of the airport rooms awaiting news.

"Nothing yet Suneel shook his head.

Marissa sighed heavily leaning her head against his shoulder, Suneel laced his fingers with hers and squeezed her hand in a reassuring manner but nothing could reassure his wife right now.

"We shouldn't have supported her when she pursued this career Marissa mumbled.

"She's Geet, she still would've gone ahead with it Suneel responded.

"I can't lose her Suneel, if something happens to Geet... I can't she couldn't even imagine her life without her daughter. After Geet was born, Marissa and Suneel couldn't have anyone more children due to the complication that had risen during the delivery.

Though it'd hurt them they couldn't have anymore children, they were content and happy with their two little blessings. They wouldn't swap Tara or Geet for anyone, their children were their lifelines. Suneel glanced up ahead noticing Gaurav Khurana glancing around concerned.

"I'll be back he told Marissa and looked at Sean who'd understood his gesture and nodded reassuring his father in law that he'd take care of his mother in law.

"Suneel... Gaurav looked at Suneel a little surprised.

"Uncle, what brings you here? Suneel questioned curiously.

"Maan... Gaurav sighed heavily, "As part of his job requirement, sometimes he has to fly out with the rest of the team and he... he paused unable to continue. "Maan is...

Suneel pressed his hand on his shoulder in a reassuring manner, he wasn't sure what he could offer. His own daughter was on that plane.

"Is Geet also... Gaurav asked slowly.

Suneel nodded sadly, "Are you here alone? he asked.

"I'm here with Rajeev and Rhea he gestured. "I didn't let Savitri or Kartik come he answered.

Suneel nodded, and pointed over to his wife and son in law, "Why don't you come and wait with us? We're getting updates quicker because Geet is one of the line managers for the Company? he suggested.

"Are you sure? Gaurav seemed contemplated, they'd be getting updates on their Maan because of Geet being on the same plane and they'd rejected her for her job. He felt a slight twinge of guilt.

"Yes, come over with Rajeev and Rhea Suneel nodded.

Gaurav called over Rajeev and Rhea who were equally concerned but were a little comforted they'd be getting an update soon about their Maan.

Marissa only offered a small smile, she didn't have it in her to exchange pleasantries, she also couldn't forget that this family had rejected her daughter. She wasn't a woman who held grudges but Geet was rejected by their family whose son's physical appearance. Marissa didn't judge, she'd liked meeting Maan, she liked his family but she disliked that they had rejected Geet.

"How aren't they looking for us all? Josh grumbled flopping onto his back.

Another day had passed, food was gone and there was limited water, even with the boiled seawater which was cleansed.

"I know now that I should never fly in your plane Geet murmured. "I could've been sunbathing right now

"There's sun here as well Josh gestured. "You're getting yourself a very nice tan.

"What was that drama before with the Fed? Max questioned.

Geet glanced over her shoulder, Kirsten was sat with her team and keeping an eye on Maan who didn't seem so good. "Nothing she turned to Max shaking her head.

"Didn't seem like nothing Josh informed.

"It's none of your business now, is it? Geet smirked.

"Alright, don't get your panties in a twist Josh chuckled raising his hands up in surrender.

"Do you think he's going to be okay? Max asked gesturing to Maan.

"He didn't want Geet checking the wound... Josh trailed, he couldn't have anyone else dying on him. "Geet, come with me he stood and walked across.

Geet didn't move and watched silently, Josh paused having noticed that she wasn't following.

"I'm saying it as your Pilot not friend Josh spoke knowing already Geet wasn't going to follow.

"What are you going to do? Report me? Geet arched her brows seemingly amused.

"Damn Leanne for letting you get away with the shit you stir! Josh scowled. "Get up and follow me he hissed.

Geet rolled her eyes and stood joining his side.

"He said he doesn't want my help she informed.

"I be in the same state, I say the same. You aren't going to force yourself?

"He's a passenger, you're a friend Geet replied.

Josh rolled his eyes and stopped by where the Federal team were sitting together.

"He doesn't look so good Josh noted Maan's pale skin.

"He's got a high temperature and he's visibly shivering Kirsten informed. They didn't have the medical instruments nor any basic medicines that could've brought his temperature down.

"Hira, get me a cold cloth and some clean water Geet called out. "We need to check his wound, the shivering could be caused by an infection she kneeled down. "I need sterilised pin and... she didn't need to finish, Josh nodded and rushed over to Max and together they sterilised the items Geet would need to clean the wound.

Kirsten looked thoughtfully at Geet then turned to her friend who had his head laying on her lap shivering, she cradled his cheek. "You stubborn ass she mumbled scowling at him. "Why couldn't you just let check you?

Maan heard her murmurings but didn't have the energy to reply. His eyes closed slowly as his vision blackened...
