CHAPTER 11
ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any royal titles, Punjabi terms, architectural terms, IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. PLEASE DON'T BASH ME !!!!!
ALL THE PHOTOGRAPHS DOWNLOADED DO NOT BELONG TO ME BUT BELONG TO THE ORIGINAL UPLOADER. I HAVE JUST USED THEM AS THEY GO WITH MY STORY! PLEASE DON'T BASH ME !!!
Mohinder and KB did Geet's vidaai jointly from the temple itself. Although Geet was angry with her father, Mohinder but at the time of vidaai when she had to throw puffed rice or "kheel" behind she didn't object when Mohinder stood behind following her and collecting the puffed rice she threw behind thereby bringing tears in her till now dry eyes.
She hugged KB and cried her heart out despite of knowing that this marriage will only last for six months! But for Geet she was joined to Maan for not only seven births but eternity. Hence she was feeling all emotions which a newly wedded bride felt. She felt so strange that home and family(although she had lost her family but her Dada and biological father was there as her family) which was hers since her birth and she has to leave them and she has to move on in her life by going to a new home and family!
Location : KHURANA MANSION (KM)
RK took Maan and Geet to KM on Savitri Deviji's orders. Maan and Geet were about enter KM threshold when a voice stopped them. "THEHRO!" (STOP)
Maan looked in anger, who dare to stop him from entering his home and Geet looked up in surprise. They were shocked seeing Dadimaa standing at decorated KM entrance supported by Vicky and Meera on either side and Nakul holding pooja thali. Dadimaa made Maan and Geet stand together who were still in "gatbandh" (joined together by Maan's stole and Geet's dupatta). Geet was made to stand on Maan's left (vamaang) side and Dadimaa did Maan and Geet's aarti & tilak and welcomed Geet as "Khurana Khandaan's badi bahu" (elder daughter-in-law)."Beta apne daineye paire (right foot) se kalaash gira kar ghar mei pravesh kariye!" (Geet push the kalaash (pot) with your right foot and enter in your home!). Geet did as told and after entering the KM threshold Maan and Geet touched dadimaa's feet and she blessed them both saying "Jugg, jugg jiyo! Dhoodhu naaho, putton phalon!" (Have a long life! Be blessed with healthy children!)

Making Geet blush crimson red, whereas Maan looked on confused. Dadimaa gave a antique jewellery set to Geet saying, "Yeh Khurana Khandaan ka khandaani haar hai aur ghar ki badi bahu par iska adhikaar hai. Aaj hum aapko kewal haar nahi, magar haar ke roop mei Khurana Khandaan ki izzat, rutbaa aur khushiyaan saunp rahein hain. Aaj se iss ghar ki izzat, rutbaa aur khushiyaan aap ki zimmewari hain!"(This family heirloom of Khurana family and is rightfully given to the eldest daughter-in-law of the family! But don't think of this only as a necklace but its embodiment of Khurana family's respect, prestiage and happiness. From today, its your responsibility to see to Khurana family's respect, prestiage and happiness.)
Geet again touched Dadimaa, RK and Dr. Shashank's feet and everyone gave her a "shagun" (small token of gift i.e. Jewellery, cash, saree etc.) along with their blessings!
"Maan aap Geet ko apni baahon mei uthaye jiss se hum ek aur zaruri rasam poori kar dein!" (Maan lift Geet in your arms so we can finish an important ritual!)
"Dadimaa, aaj ke liye kaafi ho gaya hai. Aap abhi hospital se aayi hain. Baaki rasmein kal kar lenge!" Maan tried to dissuade Dadimaa and go to his study as he was getting irritated and frustrated with these age old and illogical customs and rituals! (Dadimaa, its enough for today. You have just returned from hospital, we can finish the remaining rituals tomorrow!)
Dadimaa got upset and angry on Maan saying, "Maan hum jaante hain ki aap ko yeh reeti riwaaz puraane zamaane ke dhaakosle lagte hain. Magar har rasam yaa riwaaz ka ek samay hota hai. Jaisse Geet ka grahpravesh, hum shaadi ke ek mahine baad nahi kar sakte waise ki yeh rasam bhi!"(Maan I know that all these ritual and customs according to you are old fashioned illogical charade. But there is a time and place for each ritual and custom, just like I couldn't have welcomed Geet after a month of your wedding in KM so are these customs!)
"Magar Dadimaa..."
"Suniye, Dadimaa se behaas (argue) karne ke bajaaye hum rasamein jald se jald khatam karte hain jiss se Dadimaa aur aap dono araam kar sakte hain!" (Its no point arguing withDadimaa! Lets finish all ritual and customs as soon as possible so Dadimaa and you both can rest!) Geet coming closer to Maan whispered softly so no one except Maan could hear!
Maan swept a blushing Geet in his arms and moved in the direction of next ritual. Soon all rituals were over and Dadimaa ordered Vicky, Meera, Adi and Pinky to guide newly weds to the dinning table. Dr. Shashank in no nonsense voice ordered his nurse to take Dadimaa to her room and start administrating medicine.
Admist lot of teasing, jokes and fun dinner finished. Meera and Pinky, guided Geet to their room (sorry, Maan's room!). They made Geet sit in traditional pose in centre of the bed with her face covered in long ghunghat. Meera and Pinky kept teasing Geet and she was becoming more and more red. Finally, having mercy on Geet they left her and their giggles and laughter could be heard outside the closed door. Geet sat in the pose they left her for sometime so incase anyone returns finds her still on bed. After sometime, when she was sure of no one entering, she got up from the bed and walked towards the window facing the attached balcony of this magnificent masculine room.
(Ignore the frills and flowers!)
Although it was decorated by different flowers but the male essence of the room could not be hidden. It was extremely traditional decor in extreme masculine colours i.e. black, brown & white. Despite of trying she could not find the room homely but extremely austere. No doubt it has beautiful carved furniture but warmth was missing. Attached to the room was a balcony in which Geet wanted to wander and be closer to nature but she didn't do so as didn't want to arouse suspicions and hence, she decided to gaze at it from inside. She was so deep in thought that she didn't hear the click of room door and Maan entering till he said, "Geet!"
Geet turned and said, "Sir, bahut raat ho gayi hai, iss liye aap hummei bataa dijiye ki humara samaan kahaan hai?" (Sir, its very late. Can you please tell me where my luggage is?)
Maan took Geet to an attached room looked like a college student's study as it had book shelves lined along the bed and a small single bed to sleep in. Seeing that Geet had a wide smile on her face. Maan asked with a frown, "Haas kyun rahi ho, Geet?" (Why are you smiling, Geet?)
"Sir, humare sone ki samasya ka samaadhan ho gaya!" (Sir, I found a solution to my problem! "Abb se agale che mahine hum yahaan soyenge!" (I"ll sleep here for next 6 months!)
"Magar Geet yeh toh bahut chota hain!" (But this is very small.)
"Nahi sir! Yaa toh hum aap ke kamre mei couch par soyen yaa yahaan? Aur yeh bistar aap ke kamre ke couch is zyaada aaramdaye hoga. Yeh aap ke kamre se attached hai toh humara alag sone ka kissi ko pataa nahi chalega!" (No Sir! Either I sleep on couch in your room or this small bed. This bed will definitely be more comfortable than the couch. Besides this room is attached to the main bedroom so no one will know we are sleeping seperately!) Saying this Geet picked her clothes and left for the washroom but stopped remembering something, "Ek aur baat Sir, isse aap please sambhalkar rakhiye!" Giving Maan the Khurana's khandaani haar. (One more thing Sir, please keep this safely!)
