Shali, thanks for having the patience to still engage in this discussion.

And, yes, let's hope that they do show Maan as well as Geet (as well as Dev -- this can be done via a letter) apologising to Beeji and clan not only for the hurt caused but also for their continued deception.

At the same time, let me hasten to add yet another similarity between Beeji and MSK that could be used to MSK's favour. Of course, we cannot justify a wrong by citing to another's wrong. Yet, an introspection by Beeji would reveal that she too has employed deception. When Beeji first wanted to find out the cause for Geet's presence in Amritsar, she sent Teji off to Amritsar but deliberately withheld this fact from Geet. Again, didn't Beeji and clan initially decide that they would not let Geet know that Adi Sir had come inquiring about her? Lies by omission. Thus, they too engaged in deception to achieve an end -- Geet's happiness.

So, I hope reason will prevail and both sides will acknowledge their mistakes. They both acted for a common end -- the happiness of one woman. Yet, both employed means that were not completely honourable.

Perhaps, at the end of this track, we will be provided someone's view (I do not know whose view this would be, whether that of the creatives or the channel) on the question -- Do the ends justify the means?

@medz ... in what way was geet stand vindicated...please explain...
coming to the life patner duty... when ever did we see geet acting as MSK life patner... the first blow and she run off... they insulted her hubby...and she never corrected her family... and now she wants to clear his name... this mess is created by geet...
oohhh this doesn't means MSK is off the hook... nope I will bash him another time... cause I have much to say...

Opti, thanks for pointing out this facet of a true life partner. We saw this initially when MSK and Geet disagreed on whether Arjun ought to be tarred with the same brush as Naintara only because of the fact that he was Naintara's sibling. MSK had decided that Naintara's sibling would not be their wedding planner. It took a principled Geet, who stood by her stand of not judging a person on account of the misdeeds of one's relatives, for MSK to change his decision about having Arjun as their wedding planner. As events bore out subsequently, MSK's mistrust was shown not to be misplaced. But, as further events bore out, Geet's stand too was ultimately vindicated.

Couldn't agree with you more, Medha. The Geet and Maan prior to their marriage were vastly different characters from what we are seeing of them now. Yes, they had their flaws but they had equally strong personalities which complimented each other. Maan is the skeptic and Geet, the optimist. If Maan sees the glass half empty, Geet was happy it was half full. Maan tended to withdraw into a shell when he is hurt. Geet, on the other hand, picked herself up and confronts her problems head on. It is to Maan's credit that he taught her to be strong. He made her resilient. Unfortunately over the months he has become over protective and over indulgent with his Geet which has made her head strong, silly and at times insensitive. I hope they put Maaneet back on track. They should bring out the best in each other and not the worst.

His principles were really strained during the IP track when he made Geet slave under inhuman conditions knowing that she was pregnant, all because he wanted to prove that she cannot survive without him. He crossed his limits in his attempt to make her feel jealous. Again his principles were compromised because he could not control his feelings for his woman.

Opti, you have made a great analysis of M's character. While i agree with most of what you've said, I feel it is important tp point out that the IP track is a seminal moment in the making of M as we see him today.

He did, as you rightly point out, behave really badly in the first few days, which, while I'm not condoning in anyway, stemmed from his inability to handle his intense love for her and in his inability to reach her. One must also keep in mind all the streses that he had to deal with before in the episodes that preceded this track, beginning with the revelation of her pregnancy.
For me the slap incident really marks a major change in him- it snapped him out of himself enough to realise how low he had sunk. He realised that he had to let her go to make his peace with himself and with her. It was G who, having come her her senses (amazing how the prospect of losing something makes that object so valuable all of a sudden- for all her scattiness, G's gut instinct and common sense tend to assert themselves at crunch moments when the boat looks like it is going to sink!) refuses to let him let go of her.
He really reached his calm place having
made his painful journey from a morose, withdrawn soul to one who's willing to do anything for his lady love, He realised that he had to change, he's never asked her change herself in any way.
So while I agree that his behaviour is not always in line with his principles and his behaviour, especially in this current track, has been inconsistent, neverthless I feel he redeemed himself by refusing to interfere in Nano's decision regarding who she marries.
And if he does accord to importance to relationships, as you say, I would trace it to the slap which brought about a radical change in his character.

By his own admission, Maan gives top most priority to truth and justice and yet he did not hesitate in indulging in deceit and lies apparently to first win over Geet and later her family. Again his principles took a back seat because he accorded more importance to relationships.

We need to see if his principles will be put ahead of his brother's happiness in the Nandu case or will take a back seat as it has done in the past.

Shali, sorry. I don't agree with you that there is a difference. A lie is a lie. Whether the intention was to come clean later or not. Coming from a man who professes to uphold truth, it cannot be acceptable, whatever be the reason. Having blundered on this count, I hope that he has the sense to accept his mistake in adopting this strategy. The greatness of a man is not in his great deeds but in acknowledging, accepting and learning from his mistakes. This is not only in connection with his dealings with Geet but also with respect to others.

@ Shall: I'll see if I can pull out the post where I had made the point about Geet being vindicated.

Well, the Geet we knew used to see the innate goodness in every person. This she did even with Arjun. But, Arjun's goodness was entangled in the web of lies spun by NT. Despite what NT had told him, he still told NT that, from what he had observed of the Khuranas, they did not appear to be as black as she had painted them. Even just prior to the wedding, when NT came back and asked him to use Annie as a means of exacting revenge, he refused to do so. What sent him off the edge was seeing NT fall down from the terrace and an assumption that she was pushed off the terrace by MSK, an assumption that was supported by corroborative evidence. That was when he decided to take advantage of Annie's feelings for him and use her as an object to wreak vengeance. This is when we were shown that MSK's mistrust was not misplaced.

But, until then, Geet's stand was correct. What were the subsequent events referred to that vindicated Geet's stand? The moment the veil of angry blindness was torn away from Arjun's eyes (by Dev ironically), Arjun reverted back to the man before that incident -- the man who was innately good, the man who believed that the Khuranas were not as black as painted by his sister, the man who did not want to use a woman's affection for him as a means of wreaking revenge.

That was what I meant when I said that Geet's stand was ultimately vindicated. Merely because he was Naintara's brother did not mean that, per se, Arjun too was a man who desired only power, a man who desired only money, a man who was innately evil.

@ Shali: I saw your question just as I was about to log out. And, I thought it to fit to answer it now.

@ Lalita: Thanks for posting your views too.

@ Lalita, Shali and Opti: I am definitely retiring now. I have to admit to being too worn out presently to engage further in this discussion. Until we meet again.
