Maaneet Scenes:Compared & Contrasted-First Tiff

Here's another scene from the past which has both similarities and contrasts with the present scenario.

Similarity:

Then:

Maan lashes out at Geet in anger. While he has a habit of lashing out at her in every opportunity, what hurt Geet the most was the fact that in the scene before he had raised a question on her character when he accused her to trying to entrap him. As though that was not enough, in this scene he referred to her violent family to justify her behavior of trying to slap him for his earlier impertinent accusation.

Current situation:

Maan lashed out in anger and again both her character (in terms of her lacking self respect) and her family lineage were in question.

Contrast:

1.Then:

Dadi says that he should remove the hate he has developed (ever since Sameera left him) from his heart and change himself. She looks meaningfully in Geet's direction. Maan gets irritated and says that he will not change for anyone, least of all for Geet.

Current situation

Maan has buried his hatred for Dev because of what that hatred had done to his marriage. As far as change is concerned, he has changed and how! He has willingly surrendered his identity and has donned the role of a menial driver for his Geet. He is even willing to suffer humiliation at the hands of people he couldn't care less about, just so that he can remain close to his Geet.

2.Then:

Dadi is worried that Geet may leave the house because of his harsh words. Maan looks shocked at first but then says that it would be good if she does as that is what he wants too (although I suspect he did not want her to leave even then).

Current situation

Dadim's fears then proved right now and Geet left the house much to Maan's chagrin. He least expected her to do so and surely did not want it. He has followed her all the way to Amritsar to take her back.

3.Then:

Seeing a tearful Geet, Maan feels bad about what he said. He approaches her tentatively and tries to apologise to her a hanky in hand. She cuts him short though before he can get a couple of words. She says that he has crossed all limits. She says that she does not want to see his face again. Hearing this Maan is shocked and his face tightens in anger. He leaves the place in a huff.

Current Scenario:

Geet tells Maan that she does not love him anymore and cannot forgive him. She asks him to leave. But unlike in the past, Maan is not ready to leave without her. He is not willing to believe that she has stopped loving him. Here is a man who is both confident in his love and in the love of his woman for him. He will not give up till he wins her back.

What could the future hold?

Then:

After this scene Geet gets a call from Maan saying that he is having some problem and she assumes the worst when soon thereafter the photoframe holding his picture breaks and her dupatta tears. Geet rushes to the dargah in search of him and realises her love for Maan.

Would we see something similar in the current scenario too when Geet panics that Maan's life is in danger from her family and finally accepts her love for him?

One has to applaud GHSP creatives for loop closures... This show even though titled Geet, supposed to be about about the female lead's trials and tribulations...She has become a mere catalyst ... I feel this show is about the evolution of MSK from a flawed imperfect being to perfection...He has been learning from his mistakes and constantly improving for the better..

Excellent interpretation Deeps. Yes, it has been about Maan's evolution into a better human being. I'm reminded of what Jack Nicholson tells Helen Hunt in "As Good as it Gets". "You make me want to be a better man". Maan wants to be a better man for his Geet.

The parallel you have described just highlights the fact that Maan has changed so much since the time he first met Geet to now. His arrogance although not completely gone has taken a back seat. Geet has changed too. Then, although she thought of leaving, stayed back at Maan's behest. Now she's not willing to compromise on her self respect. Probably the hurt and disappointment is far bigger now because their equation has changed.As you've mentioned it will take something big like Maan's life being in danger for Geet to forget her own hurt & grief and once again embrace her love for Maan.

Hey Deepika, Anuja and Opti i feel that as person Geet has also changed a lot in this 1 year. From a person who was very submissive to a person who now stands for any type of injustice she faces, also she stands for her self respect. I a way both of them have come a long way from what they were a year back to what they are now. Geet's change was swift and fast as she was too adaptive to the new changes and ways of thinking. But for Maan the process is slow as he is already settled himself to a way of thinking. And it is actually hard for him as he has to giveup the pride and priv. he is used to. For Geet it is only a gaining process so it was much easier

The hurt was deeper, these were words from the person whom she loved to death and it is the same person who loves her. As she stated in the marketplace milan. "those were not just words.........."

He has to clear it that they were just words and they were not what he felt about her. He has already said that in words though

Exactly. She had not yet realised her love for him and does not know what he feels for her.
so she could tolerate it although she felt deeply hurt. In fact she was all set to leave the house. It was Maan's words not to do so which stopped her then. This time the hurt was far deeper as she loves him deeply and he had promised to not let her past come in the way of their future. Through his words he unwittingly brought up her past and made her feel low about herself. Loved your take Latha.

Thanks Anuja.Yes, Maan has changed so much since the initial days.Love has brought about the change. Geet is not willing to compromise this time because she has received a lot from Maan and his words made her feel that all that was for nought. Her expectations was far more this time and hence the disappointment that much more intense. Lets see what makes her relent this time.
