Acting the role of Shri Ram is better than acting in the role of any other character, because Maan is fictional whereas Lord Ram is a devotional character that every person looks up to.
Whether or not Gurmeet looked good as Ramji or not, or whether he acted better in Ramayan or Geet is inconsequental to me. When it comes between choosing Maan or Ram, I would go with Ram anyday. Anyhow, I believe it is harder doing the role of Lord Ram because it is already written in stone. Not only that. Many others have done it before that Gurmeet was compared to many professional actors when he did the role of Ramji. There was more competiton against those actors but yet he did a fine job despite the competition. He was not the best, but he was not the worst either. The character of Lord Ram does not have many liberties for actors because there is a certain way they must act and talk to give off a divine expression, whereas with Maan, Gurmeet was the first and only actor to do that role. He has so much more liberties to do what he wants and even he himself admitted in an interview that acting Ram was much harder than acting Maan. People do not have a certain set of expectations from Maan, but they do with Ram.
There were times when Gurmeet messed up as Ram (like having a few anger spasms when they were not needed - but then again, this might be the script writers' fault, not Guru's), but he showed a lot of improvement towards the middle-half and end of the serial, and you cannot forget that Ramayan always topped NDTV Imagine when it aired.
I admit that Gurmeet does seem more of a professional actor in Geet than Ramayan, but I like him in Ramayan more because any Ramayan serial or movie is special simply for being a mythological show. The shows that come on now come and go, but ONLY mythological shows are aired and re-aired even after decades (for example, Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, Shri Krishna, and BR Chopra's Ramayan and Mahabharat are still aired today after more than 20 years). Gurmeet will always be remembered in NDTV Ramayan, because the DVDs have already been released and many sales have been made, but 20 years from now, who will remember him as Maan in Geet, no offense?
Am not trying to be rude or mean, but some of the comments in this thread are a bit rude too. I mean, who says the character of Maan is by far hotter than Lord Ram?😕 That can really offend some religious people in this forum.
