Amsterdam, Netherlands

Fifteen years later.

The alarm rings at 4.45 AM, Arjun wakes up instantly. No snooze button. No hesitation. He looks around. The room is bigger than his rented house he used to live. The room is lavish and sophisticated. The rented house is replaced by a big bungalow.

A framed photograph of his parents beside a study lamp.

He sits up and smiles at the photograph, took their blessings.

He changes into training clothes and begins his morning workout in the gym he built in his house.

Pushups.

Shadow boxing.

Heavy bag training.

Grappling drills.

His movements are sharp, controlled, almost mechanical.

It’s been 15 years and he has grown up into a wealthy successful businessman but his routine never changed. Because discipline is the only thing keeping his life together. And this belief too never changed.

After 2 hours,

Arjun is preparing breakfast.

Not a maid.

Not a chef.

Him.

Pancakes.

Vegetable salad.

Eggs.

Coffee.

Lunchbox.

A photograph on the fridge catches attention.

Arjun and his son fifteen-year-old son Aryaman.

Aryaman enters.

Confident.

Athletic

Bright.

Sharp.

A mixture of Arjun's discipline and somebody else's warmth.

He immediately steals a pancake.

Arjun: "That's yours for school."

Aryaman: "It still belongs to the family."

Arjun: "Nice try."

Aryaman grins.

Aryaman: "You've become stingy after becoming rich."

Arjun: "You've become dramatic after becoming a teenager."

They eat together.

Comfortable silence.

Not awkward silence.

The kind built over years.

Aryaman notices Arjun checking emails.

Again.

Aryaman: "Work."

Arjun: "Work."

Aryaman: "You promised today was family breakfast."

Arjun: "It is."

Aryaman: "Then why are you replying to emails?"

Arjun: "Because employees panic if I don't."

Aryaman: "You own three companies."

Arjun: "Four."

Aryaman: "See? That's exactly my point."

Arjun chuckles.

A rare sound.

People at work fear him.

Aryaman never has.

Arjun is still disciplined, emotionally reserved, protective and responsible. But fatherhood has softened him. He smiles more. Laughs more. Sleeps less. Worries constantly.

His world has shrunk into one person - Aryaman.

This is the one conversation Arjun always dreads.

Aryaman casually asks:

Aryaman: "Dad?"

Arjun: "Hmm?"

Aryaman: "What was Mom like?"

Arjun stops.

Same reaction.

Every time.

Aryaman notices.

Every time.

Arjun: "Kind."

Aryaman: "Anything else?"

Arjun: "Smart."

Aryaman: "Anything else?"

Arjun: "Stubborn."

Aryaman: "Like you and me."

Arjun: "Unfortunately."

Aryaman laughs. Then becomes serious.

Aryaman: "Why did she leave our house and where is she?"

The laughter dies. Arjun genuinely does not know. Not because he's hiding. Because he never got answers.

Arjun: "I don't know."

Aryaman: "Did you fight?"

Arjun: "No."

Aryaman: "Did she stop loving us?"

Arjun looks away.

This question hurts.

Because he doesn't know.

Arjun: "I don't think so."

Aryaman: "Then why?"

Arjun has no answer.

For eight years.

No answer.

Flashback - Aryaman's POV

Eight years ago

Young Aryaman.

Age seven.

Drawing pictures.

Three stick figures.

Father.

Mother.

Son.

Saanjh smiling at Aryaman.

Helping him study.

Making him laugh.

Flashback - Arjun's POV

Cafe

Arjun is looking for Madhuri and a girl hugged him from behind. He is shocked to see that girl.

Arjun: "Saanjh?"

Saanjh: "Or Madhuri."

Arjun: "You're Madhuri?"

Saanjh: "But your voice is not sweet."

Saanjh adjusted her throat and speaks. Arjun couldn't believe that she changed her voice to speak with him. Saanjh chuckles at him.

Saanjh: "I fell in love on the day I saw you. Love at First sight. But I was not having the guts to come directly to you and propose. So I decide to talk you in call. But more and more I know about you, I can resist from falling for you. And I don't want you keep in the dark so I came to meet you."

Arjun hugged Saanjh and tell, "Love is unbelievable. See myself, I am head over heels for someone for years without seeing her face."

Saanjh looked at few men leaving the cafe after seeing them.

Arjun breaks the hug and knelt down to her.

Arjun: "I love you. Will you marry me?"

Saanjh: "Yes."

People in the cafe clapped for them.

Saanjh: "We cannot stay at Delhi. My parents are convincing for marriage and I tried refusing them but they are not listening. I don't have the guts to face my parents. So we have to elope."

Arjun: "Are you sure? Won't your parents be heartbroken?"

Saanjh: "They will be heartbroken. But time heals everything and we can come to them after our marriage. They will definitely accept us."

Arjun is confused. The people in the cafe are looking at them and supported Saanjh by giving filmy refercnes. Saanjh too pressurized Arjun and Arjun accepts it.

Arjun: "Right. For two months, we'd stay at Udaipur. Then, we can go to France as I got a fully funded Masters admission there. If we get married, I can get visa for you as well."

Saanjh: "That's great. We'll do."

After so many years, in a normal family dinner.

Everything looks normal.

Yet something feels off.

Arjun watching Saanjh.

Respectfully.

Kindly.

But there is distance.

An invisible wall.

Arjun remembered Saanjh

Arjun cared for Saanjh.

Respected her.

Trusted her.

But the fire he once felt for "Madhuri" never existed.

He never understood why.

He assumed love simply changed after marriage.

One evening,

Saanjh: "Are you happy?"

Arjun smiles.

Arjun: "Of course."

But after she leaves the room, his smile disappears.

Not because he dislikes her.

Because something has always felt incomplete.

And he never knew what.

Airport

A major problem emerges in Arjun's Delhi branch due to fraud, internal sabotage and financial irregularities.

He must personally travel.

Aryaman is disappointed.

Aryaman: "You'll miss my football finals."

Arjun: "I'll stream them."

Aryaman: "Not the same thing."

Arjun: "I know."

Aryaman: "Then don't go."

Arjun: "I have responsibilities."

Aryaman smirks.

Aryaman: "You taught me that line."

Arjun: “Once your match is done, come to Delhi. You’d be staying with your grandparents.”

Aryaman: "That's great."

Delhi

Mathur House

Aryaman temporarily stays with his maternal grandparents.

They love him deeply.

Yet something feels strange.

Whenever Aryaman talks about Saanjh, the atmosphere changes.

Aryaman: "What was Mom like as a teenager?"

The room becomes quiet.

Grandmother: "Very cheerful."

Aryaman: "Then?"

Grandmother: "Nothing."

It looked quick, too reharsed and Aryaman noticed it.

Unlike Arjun, Aryaman is curious, persistent and emotionally expressive. He cannot let mysteries remain unsolved. He inherited Arjun's determination, unfortunately for everyone involved.

Late night.

Aryaman explores old photo albums.

Most photographs are normal.

Birthdays.

College.

Family gatherings.

Then he notices something odd.

In several pictures, Saanjh, Maya and Sonakshi are always together and always inseparable.

Yet today, nobody talks about Maya, nobody mentions Sonakshi and nobody likes to talk about his mother. When he tried to ask his grandparents, they are giving the same template answers like no idea.

Nobody explains anything.

The mystery deepens.

The audience applauds.

A woman walks onto stage.

Confident.

The hospital corridor.

No dramatic dialogue.

Heavy silence.

Neither expected this moment.

Neither prepared for it.

Maya: "Hello, Arjun."

Arjun: "Hello."

That's all.

Fifteen years.

Reduced to one word.

Back at Saanjh's parents' house.

Aryaman cannot stop thinking.

Something isn't right.

He discovers old photographs, old letters and missing items. And a locked drawer.

No key.

No explanation.

When he asks his grandparents,

Aryaman: "What's inside?"

Both become uncomfortable.

Grandfather: "I don't remember."

Aryaman instantly knows.

That's a lie.

Aryaman sits alone.

Looking at the drawer.

Looking at a photograph of Saanjh, Maya and Sonakshi.

Three smiling friends.

Frozen in time.

He whispers.

Aryaman: "What happened to you, Mom?"

Meanwhile elsewhere...

Dr. Sonakshi Bose opens a storage box.

Inside is a tiny key.

The same key Aryaman is searching for.

She stares at it.

Troubled.

Because she knows what lies inside that drawer.

And once that diary is opened... Several lives will never be the same again.

15 years leap was really unexpected. I am surprised that arjun's son is siddharth nigam and I am assuming that he must be atleast 13 or 14 years old as he is a teenager. I didn't expect the chapter to start with the leap directly but it was a good decision as you succeeded in keeping suspense for the readers.arjun aryaman scenes are cute.surprising that Saanjh is Aryaman's mother.but why did she leave them?surprising that Saanjh used to change her voice and talk to arjun.surprising that they eloped as her parents will oppose their relationship. He married her immediately and got Saanjh pregnant with Aryaman and he was born after 7 months due to pre term labor. So he can be 14.5 years approximately so I made it fifteen.

SHOT 4

Skyblue Hospital, Delhi NCR

Aryaman arrives in the morning.

He had to wait.

He waits.

Hours.

Patients come and go.

Evening arrives.

Finally he was called inside. Sonakshi is smiling at him.

Sonakshi: "You're as stubborn as your father."

Aryaman: "Everyone keeps saying that."

Sonakshi: "Because it's true."

Aryaman places the old photograph on her table.

Aryaman: "What happened to these three people?"

Sonakshi: "Which three?"

Aryaman: "My mother."

He points.

Aryaman: "My mother's best friend."

He points at Maya.

Aryaman: "And you."

Silence.

Sonakshi closes her eyes.

Fifteen years of secrets.

Fifteen years of guilt.

Aryaman: "Nobody tells me anything."

Sonakshi: "Because some stories destroy lives."

Aryaman: "Mine's already destroyed."

That hits.

Finally Sonakshi opens a drawer.

Removes a tiny key.

Places it on the table.

Sonakshi:
"Your answers are in that drawer."

Aryaman: "And you?"

Sonakshi: "I've carried this secret long enough."

Saanjh's house (Night)

Saanjh's room.

The entire house is asleep.

Aryaman sits alone.

Heart racing.

The key enters the lock.

Click.

He finds old photographs, a train ticket, a broken mobile phone and a thick diary.

The phone immediately catches his attention.

Cracked screen.

Destroyed.

Preserved carefully.

Almost like evidence.

Then he opens the diary.

Dear Aryaman,

If you are reading this,

then I failed.

Failed as a wife.

Failed as a friend.

Failed as a mother.

Most importantly,

I failed as a human being.

Aryaman freezes.

This isn't the voice of a villain.

This is the voice of somebody drowning in regret.

Ashwin's health worsens.

Arjun continues visiting.

Aryaman is absent.

Maya and Arjun sit together.

For the first time in years.

Awkward.

Uncomfortable.

Maya: "How is Aryaman?"

Arjun: "Growing too fast."

A faint smile appears.

Maya: "He seems like a good kid."

Arjun: "He is."

A pause.

Maya: "You raised him well."

Arjun looks away.

Arjun: "I tried."

Something painful exists beneath those words.

Maya notices.

Aryaman read the diary.

I never intended to hurt anyone.

That is what cowards always tell themselves.

Aryaman keeps reading.

The diary begins describing college life.

Maya.

Sonakshi.

Friendship.

Dreams.

Youth.

Aryaman smiles.

For the first time he's meeting the younger version of his mother.

Aryaman reaches a page where a name appears repeatedly.

Madhuri.

Again.

Again.

Again.

Aryaman becomes confused.

Aryaman: "Who is Madhuri?"

The diary refuses to answer immediately.

Building suspense.

The diary becomes visual.

Saanjh notices Maya changing.

Smiling more.

Waiting for phone calls.

Becoming happier.

One day Maya confesses.

Maya: "I think I love him."

Saanjh: "Arjun?"

Maya nods.

Maya: "Don't laugh."

Saanjh: "I won't."

Maya: "He's impossible."

Saanjh: "I know."

Maya: "But he's good."

Saanjh: "I know."

The memory lingers.

Because Saanjh truly loved Maya.

Like a sister.

Which makes what follows worse.

Aryaman reaches the section.

The pages become shaky.

Ink stains.

Tear marks.

Maya is outside the cafe excited to meet Arjun.

Maya tells herself: "I don't know how you will react when you come to know that I am your Madhuri. I just hope you don't get angry on me. But however you react, I will take that because I love you, Arjun. Here after, there will be no Madhuri. Only Maya."

Maya receives a call from her brother Ayaan.

Ayaan: "Maya, Papa had sent goons to kill Arjun."

Maya is shocked.

Ayaan: "He doubts that Arjun loves you. He don't want you to marry an ordinary man like him."

Maya: "But, how can dad do that? Arjun is the reason we are all alive."

Ayaan: "Mrityunjay uncle was our family friend. But when his daughter died as I rejected her proposal, did he see the family friendship? Didn't he send goons to kill all of us? Time can make anyone ungrateful and our father is not an exception."

Maya see goons and immediately recognizes them that they are Ashwin's men. Maya hides and calls Saanjh.

Maya: "Saanjh... I need your help."

Saanjh: "What happened, Maya?"

Maya: "You need to act as Madhuri to Arjun."

Maya described the problem and compelled Saanjh to come.

Maya: "Somehow bring Arjun to the railway station and then I come there and elope with him somewhere."

Saanjh nods.

Aryaman sits frozen.

Then comes the pivotal entry.

Maya trusted me.

She gave me her phone.

She told me to save him.

I was also following the plan and got Arjun to the railway station.

But I too loved Arjun. Much before Maya started to love him. It was a love at first sight. I tried to distance myself from the feelings for Arjun for years. But I couldn't. But I don't want to hurt Maya. At the same time, I don't want to hurt myself.

Aryaman turns the page.

Hands trembling.

Then the phone rang.

Another page.

Maya was calling.

Another page.

I knew she wanted to tell Arjun the truth.

Another page.

I could have handed him the phone.

Another page.

Instead, I broke the phone.

Aryaman drops the diary.

Shocked.

Aryaman learns Maya lied to Ashwin, Maya protected Arjun, Maya risked losing her father and Maya sacrificed her own happiness.

Everything.

To save Arjun.

And never received anything in return.

Aryaman rushes to the hospital.

The diary in hand.

Emotionally shattered.

He finds Arjun.

Aryaman: "Dad."

Arjun immediately knows something is wrong.

Arjun: "What happened?"

Aryaman places the diary before him.

Aryaman: "Read it."

Arjun: "What is this?"

Aryaman: "My mother's confession."

The words hit like a punch.

Arjun begins reading.

Hours pass.

His entire life starts rearranging itself.

Every memory.

Every conversation.

Every feeling.

Madhuri.

The phone calls.

The laughter.

The dreams.

Everything.

The woman he loved was never Saanjh.

It was Maya.

Always Maya.

Arjun finds Maya alone.

For years she remained strong.

Successful.

Respected.

Admired.

But nobody ever asked what it cost her.

Arjun: "Madhuri."

Maya immediately recognizes it.

Her hands begin shaking.

Maya: "How did you know?"

Arjun: "Aryaman."

Silence.

She realizes.

The truth is finally out.

Fifteen years.

Gone.

For the first time since the railway station—

Maya cries.

Not gracefully.

Not quietly.

Completely.

Maya: "I tried to save you."

The words destroy Arjun.

Because he knows she did.

And because for fifteen years—

he never knew.

Trying to process everything.

The diary's final pages remain unread.

A section sealed inside an envelope.

Addressed to: "Aryaman."

Inside is one sentence.

Not yet opened.

"The greatest truth is still left."

Aryaman stares at it.

Confused.

Terrified.

Curious.

Because he thinks he has learned everything.

But the biggest revelation is still waiting.
