To fight, to argue and to defend
She turned to find himstanding 10 feet from her
“Dadu se milne aaye ho?”she asked politely not exposing ONE BIT how her heart was hammering…. “Dadu Buake ghar hain” she said plainly pushing her glasses up
And beginning to stackthe tumblers in a tall shelf by the sink
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He LEFT
She ran to the balcony in the living room it offered clear views to the building exit down below
She waited
He had gone off to bring the basket of get well soon things he had bought for Dadu, Rathiji was bringing it up he was going to get it from him outside the elevator
She waited and waited
He appeared in the balcony door 10 minutes later tucked his hands in his pockets and watched her look for him down below
“Expecting someone?” he asked grimly
She turned around in disbelief
“NAHI TO” she turned red
“Why are you wearing a saree and not at work?” he demanded
It was his favorite erotic outfit you see, if she was not at work she was supposed to wear it for him and not at all otherwise
“Chachi brought these, from a guy who makes it in Haldwani” she raised her arms to display the glass bangles she was wearing in very unique colors
She had decided to contrast the beautiful glass with a off white almost pale green plain saree. She looked all sorta beautiful he thought
She was galaxies different from the women he had dated
This woman was unassuming, and not obsessed with her appearance or makeup
The plumber walked by “Madam iska valve badalna hai aur pipe bhi naya lagega”
“Who to aapne kaha nahi jo dishwasher se sink ko jo pipe nikalti hai usme thodi hai jam”
“Arey Madam, saare pipe judey hain, chalo main batata hoon aapko”
She hassled with him as he leaned on the balcony doorjamb, with one foot up checking his messages
Dadi walked over to him
“Bahu aayi hai chhoti kal, thak gayi, yeh dono bandar uske hain” Dadi pointed to the young boys, skating across the floor slamming into each other
“Oh” he nodded
“Khaaye kuch?” “Hamare UP mein pehle ghar aaye mehman ki khaatir karte hain” Dadi dissed her poti
“Achha” he nodded
“Yeh hamesha qitabon mein ghusi rehti hai, aaj iski Ma so rahi hai, bahar desh gayi thi, Dadu haspatal mein aur Anu Amreeka”
“Amreeka nahi Dadi Germany” Viveka corrected her walking over to the entertainment unit along a wall to get money out
“Yahi hai aap chhuttha kar lo” she handed
“Madam, kam se kam 1200 ka samaan aayega, aur auto ke alag”
Viveka wanted to go into her room to get her wallet
She didn’t want to wake Ma up
“Tumhare paas hain Rs.500?” she asked Raanav
“Betaaa MAYKE ka kharcha damad se karwayegi?” Dadi admonished her
“dadi jab inke yaha pipe tootega to Papa banwa denge”
“TO? Beti ka sasural hai theek nahi karawenge?” BATAO!”
“Do you have it?” his wife demanded
“Sure” he politely handed her a wad. Of Rs.1000s”
“I need Rs.500”
“I only have these”
“Main chalti hoon aapke saath neeche, main change karwa doongi” she didn’t want the guy running away”
“Vi… let him go, he will be fine”
The plumber gave Raanav a look of “This lady does not trust me”
Raanav handed him two Rs.1000
“Madam ji BAG chhodke ja raha hoon usme kam se kam Rs.50,000 ka alactrik ka saman hai”
“Time se nal fix kar do aur sink bhi bechoongi nahi tumhara samaan”
“Dekho! Karigar se kaisi baat” Dadi shook her head
Chachi came out and yelled at her kids, her face was covered in some pasty stuff, and she was wearing a above knee length gown
“Vivekaaaaa” she scowled at Veev when she noticed Raanav in the living room
“Kya hua Chachi”
Chachi ran scowling, slammed the door didn’t open the door for until later
Dadi went through all of Anu’s things
“Isko de Biveka” Dadi grandly offered Gilette shave cream can to Raanav
“Dadi iske paas hai”
Raanav chuckled
“NA beta INKO bolo”
“I am going to tidy the kitchen
She went inside
He followed her
The boys were BOTH STANDING in the sink spraying each other with water
“Oh my God!!” she gasped pulling them out shutting off the faucet
They ran out She ran out and grabbed one quick
“Hang him upside down will you?” she asked Raanav
He was taller and stronger
The boys yelled in excitement
He swung them both for a few minutes
“Change karo” Viveka ordered and left them in the twins room
“Poha hai breakfast mein… doon kya?” she asked politely
“I am good” he shrugged
She looked at her kitchen
NO WONDER
He probably never looked at such a tiny kitchen, and a kitchen that had thrown up on itself
“Kyon laaye itna saara Dad uke liye? Dadi will send everything with Chachi” she mumbled the second sentence almost a whisper
“BIVEKAAAAA yeh tokri kaun laaya?” Dadi hollered
“I told you” Viveka whispered
Trying to find a saucepan to make chai
“Chai peeyoge?” she paused
“Oh I can fill up water” she mumbled
Reaching for a tall container with a spigot at the bottom
“Sure” he nodded hands in his pockets giving her rapt attention
“Aaj office nahi gaye?” she asked
“Saturday” he chuckled
“Oh yes… umm”
“I liked the questioning tho” he laughed
“Mujhe lene aaye?” she asked trying not to look at him while she put a lid on the boiling tea water letting it simmer
He didn’t answer until she looked at him, she did when he didn’t answer
She held the hand towels in her hand and looked at him
“When were you planning to get home?”
“Pata nahi” she said not willing to give him the pleasure of victory
She pulled the lid off and it clattered to the side
“Meri yaad sata rahi thi tumhe?” she laughed self deprecatingly
“When can you go?” he asked
She turned to him in shock and stared open mouth
So he was here to pick her up
He took a step forward
She took one back and leaned on the two feet of empty space by the tall pots and pans rack
“Tumhe ghar par ladne ke liye ek insaan kam pada kya?” she goaded him softly
He wiped steam off her glasses
She pushed his hand off
He gently felt her bare waist with his right hand
She grabbed his hand with both of hers
They stood tussling… chink chink chink… tinkle… tinkle without saying a word they fought quietly
“Tum …” she strained, “Raanav” he did dodgy, cheeky things
She leaned on the wall eventually gasping trying to push him away
Ghar pa, Ma hai Chachi hain Dadi bhi” she whispered begging for freedom
They scuffled softly, gasping and grunting
He finally inserted his left hand under her pallu and felt her ribs, his thumb sneaking up the pad stroking her curved flesh covered by a taut blouse
“Didi… Divu ne yeh TOR diya” Himanshu walked out with a broken hair brush
The young couple separated reluctantly
Chachi stormed out of the room, now with a clean washed face and track pant and a tee
“Viveka yeh galat kiya tumne she accused loudly
“Chach..”
“MUJHE BATANA chahiye…. Ya to tum bachon ko theek se sambhal leti ya mujhe BATA deti” “Tumhare husband aaye hain”
“Chachi… I WAS… subah se yeh dono”
“Nahi main nahi maanti” Chachi was adamant
“She had no idea you were going to step out of the room
The Parashar kid defended her!!
Chachi looked like someone shoved her from the balcony
Ma appeared from her room looking groggy
