This is the new normal isn't it? Having said that having an ex that you don't want to bite off also says about the kind of a decent relationship one had with decent person until when they decide to break up

I do think about this I general too when my kid as a teen says of her friends oh! they had a good time dating junior senior yrs and then she would casually say oh prom'a done ma. They have moved on calling it off . The old school Aunty in me then takes over and I tell her"breaking up , I get it, but what do you mean they have moved on, like this soon , not even a couple of weeks to process the break up😆

But I think it's more to do with relationships being more out in the open these days as against my kind of times when affairs were still hush hush or discreet ! So when relationships broke up, it was always always awkward and uncomfortable as exes

I agree in real life , while decent break ups are acceptable , in stories, it's great to have conflicts ... so big no to casual tinder suggestions !Ha Ha Ha! I want her to go Chicago and fight tooth and nail to salvage this relationship ! 😆

Single & Stupid

"Neha, we havent had any contact with the two women we showed the Ansals apartment in at Gurgaon" shubhra flipped through paper documentation her assistant had saved

"Ma'am unko maine message daal diya hai"

"Its been three weeks how come this never came up in my list of available homes this morning?" Shubhra went to her giant monitor

"see I dont have any filters" she turned to her assistant

"Ma'am main Ashutosh ko bulati hoon" Neha shifted uneasily

Ashutosh was her in house IT/Web guy

Shubhra took the the smelly pan stained scribbled addresses from the property dealer funnel and

handed it to the process/legal/ rental agreement expert to first ensure there are no hassles with Shubhra's company finding a tennant for them, get their permissions then

signaled the photographer to go get pictures

and worked with the marketing content developer to write up jingoistic descriptions to attract NRIs when they did a web search

And then the IT guy posted everything and made sure it all worked when rental properties were Googled

Shubhra also paid for a bunch of web search data aggregation companies to make sure her company's name appeared up top on Page 1

It was not easy, it mostly didnt

Thats why she worked with those 3 eExpat relocation consulting companies so they can quietly slip names and phone numbers of people looking to rent

"Ashutosh, can I talk to u for a second?" she picked up her phone and called him

He showed up with a disinterested look

"Yeh ghar meri search mein aaya hi nahi I have no filters, we have this apartment sitting in our portfolio for 3 months now and strangely the owner hasnt become irritated yet, why is it not showing?

"I am working on loading the web page for that villa in Meerut"

"thats fine... but I need answers why is this search not working"

"Maine aapke Mktg waali ko kaha tha, itne bhaari pictures 50 Mb 1 GB ke 100 photos mat de website hang ho jaayega" he passed the buck

"Where is she Neha, is Punita here?"

"Jee Ma'am" Neha quickly tucked her phone in her pocket

She called Punita and Ashutosh and her asked the girl many questions

There was no resolution

When they stepped out they both whispered

"yaar shaadi kyon nahi kar leti yeh" Ashutosh mocked

"Ek aur Bday nikal gaya Ma'am ka" Punita giggled softly

"Oh teri... abhi chance bhi gaya" he shook his head derisively

"Dad rich hai Ma'am ke"

"Jaanta hoon gunda hai banda" they both whispered and wandered to the tiny break room and punched the machine for coffee

She had loyalty from most but not all her employees

These two were the bad apples

"Main subah se job ke liye apply kar raha hoon" Ashutosh

"I wish" Punita mumbled

"Chhod yaar," he egged her on

shubhra showed up to refill her water bottle

"I am going to collect more leads from the Saket relocation agency, I will check with the owner tonight, aap search fix kar do"

"Jee Ma'am try karta hoon" he said

"Aur yeh hamesha itne roney waale color ke kapde kyon pehantin hain?"

"Dont ask me dude" Punita shrugged

Shubhra had let go of a few over the last 5 months, she had around 8 now

she didnt know if Dad had enough to pay Mintu Gulati in full

She had spent the last couple nights doing the math

Home and Office being in the same complex was really convenient

But what she was paying for commercial rent was excessive

She was contemplating some tough decision to stay afloat

She walked back to her apartment and grabbed some brochures Punita had created about the new ones in the pipeline

She had ordered 100 to be printed, she was going to go pick those up first

Her staff wanted Saturdays off, she didnt make enough to give them even half off Saturdays

she was not the prettiest or the smartest

Her Dad had let her borrow his accountant, but she didnt want to continue with that because she was sure he was relaying everything to him

It was final there was going to be no Europe trip for the parents

Tara was beyond pissed she had already shared pictures of the "boat" which was more like a yacht

she was so self absorbed she really didnt care what was going on in her only daughter's life

Shubhra had overheard her staff gossip on many occasions about how "Ma'am has no boyfriend, shaadi bhi nahi ho rahi"

Shubhra couldnt even share this with her mother, she would turn it all into how its all because Shubhra refused to get skin whitening and nose job and b--- job

Out of touch and unreal she was

The one guy that turned her on turned out to be a gorgeous swindler

"I should just go get that Tinder Account and send him pictures of my salacious night, hey if I can get a navel ring and turn into an escort why cant I sleep with a random guy? I can totally do that"

she shuddered when she thought of that, she read up a few artciles on Tinder, and browsed the website

She read through it carefully... she had done none of it

She didnt get his jokes or sarcasm and had revealed too much about her insecurities

Her phone rang...

"Yeah?"

"Shubhra Grover?"

"yeah?"

"I am attorney Nitesh Aggarwal I represent Mr & Mrs Kataria"

"Yeah, my agency has their property listed as a rental in Faridabad" she said cheerfully

"Ma'am thats exactly what I wantt o talk about"

"What?"

"Ma'am Mr & Mrs Kataria never gave your office permission to rent the place with your agency"

"Whoaa?"

"Mrs Kataria when she was visiting last month she spoke to you but she never signed an agreement, how did your office build that glossy web portfolio of the kothi?"

"Its not as glossy as I would like there are only 5 pictures" she jokes

"Exactly, all of them public images from Mrs Kataria's FB page"

"Ek second"

She texted her rental agreement guy

"Did we not get the agreement from Katarias to list their Faridabad property?"

"Ms Shubhra?" Nitesh was yelling

"I am talking to my staffer"

"Staffer kaun hai?"

"Umm.. mera employee"

"Aap Hindi nahi boltin kya?" the lawyer took a dig

She hung up after reassuring him dug into it

Turns out Mrs Kataria changed her mind didnt want it rented by Shubhra's agency, told the legal guy, he told Punita that its not happening

She assumed it was a delay and copied public images off the web and built a portfolio anyway and handed it to Ashutosh and he loaded it on the web

She was in deep doodle now

Her mother had always cautioned Manik that he should not trust Shubhra with so much entreprenuership "she is not shrewd"

Tara's words for "shubhra is an idiot"

Lo and behold!! months after losing a bunch of deals suspiciously

She was now even screwing up even her basic job responsibility

"Your Hindi is hella cute" Tapan had said one time, while kissing her...

Yep thinking about him will fix everything...

Poor girl. Her mom, now office cooler gossip. She needs a break. She need to shut their mouths.

And the mess is from inside not outside. Is she going to talk to him for counsel ?

Poor shub will Tapan step in ? He still has a tail on her na?

She should talk to him. He can be her solace at this moment. A person who will not judge her and who understands her insecurities and ofcourse the most important thing who loves her a lot.

Just on her birthday she felt like she got wind to her sails when Tapan relayed Sajjal's appreciation for her business sense and integrity.

Tables turn under less than a week's time and rug pulled from under her feet

Her dad's probably up to his neck in debt and Gulatis and Katarias are breathing down her neck.

Her mom's got itchy feet wanting to travel and her dad's walking on eggshells to foot the bill.

Ashutosh and punita are two faced frogs in shubhra's irritated throat but she is having to face the music.

She's up to her ears in work but still has not cut her teeth in business.

She has her hands full but but her business sustenance is still hand to mouth.

She still needs to keep her eyes peeled to watch out for no more such loosing face with her prospective clientele, while she's at it also have extra eyes back of her head to observe her frogs.

She needs to put more Of her back in to her business to not get beaten out of shape

She needs to keep a calm mind to keep chin her above water.

Yet her heart has got a mind of her own , head over heels in love and her tongue tied expressing that love.
