I am so sorry to hear that Kalpana. Please dont lose faith. I spent my day in 90F heat "helping" out at the Habitat construction site as a host.
The most useless one of all I would say.

Compared to all the men, between 50-80 that were on their hands and knees for 7 hours laying laminate flooring.

There was one woman who gave up her career as a physician's assistant in Sitka Alaska after she was diagnosed with MS and decided to get "busy" before life confined her to a wheelchair.

She did the the entire hallway and one bedroom all by herself.

I derive strength and inspiration from women like her and you. You have been tirelessly caring for him the past couple months.

I hope the surgery is quick and he heals fast and things go back to the "boredom" of daily life soon for you.

We dont know the value of boredom until life changes unimaginably.

This is just a turbulence, you guys will be just fine.

Take good care

Most recently I have heard of two very close friends lives being turned upside down unexpectedly. I lacked maturity, I am slowly becoming more aware and tuning into what other people are thinking and experiencing

I am using those life events to realize happiness and be satisfied with what I have (and dont)

Wow Nisha . I wasn't aware until I read your warm motivating note ...I looked up to see what habitat is about and got to know about the commendable community initiative it is. That you are able to take time out and pitch in physically and give your energy is indeed very noble. The sheer scale of activities that you involve yourself in very giving . And the lady's story you shared makes me realize how small my efforts are in face of life's bigger challenges. Ours is just a temporary setback but for the lady to be self motivated in face of adversity and still meaningfully contribute must take something special out of her .. thank you for sharing this and thank you tons for your wishes. 🤗

Cant have both

Weekend lunches and dinners werent half as dramatic. Nihar avoided eye contact with her, but made sure he followed every rule at home.
He allowed Aadhya to sit exactly like him on the couch (this would irritate him no end at first), looked the other way when she mimicked him
Ate like him, refused things he refused, asked for seconds for whatever he did.

Maybe he was seeing the humor in all of it, may be he decided to take his irritation "offline" or may be he had begun enjoying the limelight

He politely straightened his back when he accepted snack plates from Suvi, and when she had mixed up his evening clothes with weekend, he switched it back without a whimper

But he was unable to enjoy her cooking... and her presence

He struggled and Neel noticed it awkwardly

"UP ka food mei kabhi banaye nei" Suvi declared ashamed

"Umm.. simple hai zyaada mushkil nahi" he responded instead of saying "Oh no, Nihar is being silly. You are a great cook"

Suvi nodded slowly getting the hint

"It doesnt taste like Dadi Ma's dal" Nihar chimed in emboldened by his Dad's tacit support

"she gets it Nihar, you have to understand Amma has never cooked in front of her" Neel gently admonished Nihar

"You only eat a lot of fish?" Nihar spoke softly

"I like fish" Suvi smiled joyously

Nihar tried to curtail his expression of disgust

"Aai... fishhh?" Aadhya looked at her longingly

Neel chuckled

"Nakko" Suvi whispered to her daughter

"Nihar, I am trying to make you happy, Suvechha is too. Can you please give her a chance beta?" Neel's voice was gruff with emotion

Nihar glanced at Suvi and then at Neel

"I missed Mom though" Nihar whimpered

Neel had no answer

"Nihaad you can use my Aai" Aadhya waved both arms like giving away Suvi as a gift for free

Nihar shook his head as his eyes filled up with tears

"Dont cry" Aadhya got off her chair and rushed to hug him

Neel got up reluctantly not knowing what the appropriate reaction was

Suvi nodded and signaled him it was OK

Neel gathered Nihar, and they sat on the couch

"I wish I could bring her back" he said softly

"You dont wish that!!" Nihar said accusingly

Neel began to protest

"Is Mom comes back, then where will SHE go?" Nihar asked as if Nupur COULD return

Ohh God
It's not easy for anyone here.
Device someway to make is easier for them.
Neel might be hurt too. His son presumed that he didn't love his mom coz he married Suvi.
I thought that this marriage will bring happiness For Suvi but it still is illusive.
Something that would change Nihars heart ought to happen. What will that be only Nisha can tell.

What a stumper!!!! Brutually honest questions that children Unleash ... they unleash it ...mostly ill timed ... that makes the parents pause because they are at times unanswerable . This serious question of the kid has this sense of betrayal that Neel doesn't have the answer to. Their where's and why's doesn't necessarily have an answer in encyclopedia or google baba.

I'm also thinking about Aadhya... it's no less an adjustment for that kid ... and that kid would also do anything to be in an atmosphere that doesn't have Tai... I felt a tug for that kid when her eyes lit up at the mention of fish...un intentional though she is a small fry here... as at times genhu ke Saath goung bhi pis Jaata hai na? the small sacrifices that small kids make speak volumes 😭
