You are so right about detaching emotionally from the kids.

A friend couple visited us, they were sad and unhappy that their younger child's med school dreams wont come true. Their other child's law school dream has been aborted for 5 years too because the kid no longer cares to go back to grad school

The youngest, who they had pinned their hopes on, who played tennis competitively for 9 years in high school won various championship, is now attending a mediocre school (acc to them, not me) because the kid accepted a full ride.

Atleast they were hopeful this child would definitely go to med school so "it doesnt matter where you go to undergrad"😕 "Doctor jo ban na hai"

But turns out the kid is not even graduating bachelors in 4 years, but in 5 now
They looked quite bummed

Not that they were thrilled and overjoyed when their kids were little

Nope

They were always whiny and upset and always seeking something they couldnt get

They happen to be part of a clique that constantly made us and many other parents like us feel unsuccessful for many years. Money has no connection to happiness.
Kids' achievement has no connection to happiness.
A person who is intrinsically unhappy will always remain unhappy. They have three homes between 3 cities and are worth 2? or 3? million
Both employed

Phir bhi khushi ka namonishaan nahi

Indians ko yeh paise ki bhook pata nahi kidhar lekar jaayega

Wow
Avantika Vaidya, you are unique and so is Harit.
This man will make you earn his love making too. You need to spell it out to him that you need him.
I really like this.
Harit Vaidya you have a student whom you need to teach from scratch.
But why are you so insecure? You know she doesn't understand her our sexuality and still you keep asking her if she kissed before?
I guess her answer is chandu.

Nisha I feel, as parents we start the rut by thinking I want to give the things to my children that I never had. But then what starts that way slowly transforms in to us living vicariously through them. And these kids also you know they do what we ask them to do because they want our approval and they think if we are happy they are good. But then dreams are dreams... they change for everyone at different stages in life

When these children step out of their homes, then it's like their new found independence and dreams don't need our approval anymore. They need validation from peers now. It's a vicious cycle this.

Yes this friend was saying her kid has chosen football in college now, as he struggles to get over a spinal cord tennis injury from 8 years ago.
Its all very baffling to her.

She cannot understand how her obedient, subservient boy who was on the door step to med school since the age of TEN
is suddenly struggling to complete even a bachelors at 22 and doesnt care for med school anymore, is playing a rough and tumble brain injury risk sport called football,
Everything is out of the parents control now and they are struggling to come to terms with it.
None of this was planned you see...

They were very smug and proud during his high school years that his love for tennis will land him a Ivy Scholarship.

saali zindagi... koi bharosa nahi, kab kisko beep kar de kuch pata nahi
