Part 7 , day 5

So this was what a hangover was like and people begged to be killed rather than suffer this ? it was justified to describe it worse than dying her head was going to burst and her eyes were going to roll out in different direction . Nikki wished she has not drunk so much last night , what was wrong with her anyway ? But she should stop thinking about that right now as some unwanted memories might come rushing back and she did not wish to deal with any memories right now. She was still in time for breakfast and decided to go down for a strong coffee to relax her head a bit.

She did not care to look around much and took a corner table , she would call out to a passing waiter but right now she needed to clutch her head which was swimming . Someone placed a cup of coffee infront of her and she looked up to see it was Abhi who quietly took the seat opposite her. She was too tired to even think and started having her coffee. Abhi looked at her condition seeming to enjoy it and when she gave him an angry look he averted his eyes and looked behind him . Armaan was sitting at the table right behind them ,talkin to a bful girl ... Abhi couldn't help stare at them and then turned to see the effect on Nikki of this incidence. Nikki sat oblivious to the surrounding so he broke her reverie ..." Dr Nikki ? ... Aarmaan...? ... Dosent it bother you ..?

Nikki looked up at him and sent a cursory glance at Armaan's table and then got back to her coffee , " If a grown up girl thinks she is the ONE for whom Aarmaan is gonna change his wildways and turn around ,then they surely deserve what they get Dr Modi , these things happen in cheap romance novels not real life... " she said matter of factly.

First hurt passes his eyes and then he sits pondering for a while

"So you are one intelligent girl who has managed to not fall for him?"

Damn this man , his words were like a double edged sword .. if only her head was not hurting and she could use it think of something intelligent .. she would answer to wipe that half smile off his face. For now she finished her coffee and returned to her room and decided to sleep till the day she had to return.

Nikki walked out in the afternoon , and the atmosphere seemed abuzz with something , Sujoy caught up with her soon " ..where were you Nikki ... " he seemed excited too.

" not well Sujoy "

" You missed the most amazing lecture by Dr Modi ... he was amazing the way he captured the challenges faced by doctors today and how to handle it .. it was awesome Nikki... so inspiring"

Pride and frustration ranged inside her ... he was like the kid her mom always praised in front of her ... Someone to be admired, someone to be hated , someone to be jealous of cause you could never match up to them ... you could never be worthy in their eyes ... you could never be good enough for them ... And this guy got more and more perfect every day ...she hated him !

And then she saw him , smiling , that smile was meant to jeer wasn't it , it peirced her heart for things that she could never have ...

She went back to her room depressed , leaving her room had been a bad idea !

She didnot venture out of her room the whole day , in the eve reluctantly she goes out , tonight there was a bonfire at the beach , everyone was having fun ... She choose to sit aloof and observe everyone having fun .

Someone came and sat near her and she looked up

"I didn't see you today ...

I had a headache .. in a small voice

Is it serious ?

She looked at him surprised , did he care how she was feeling , why ?

She looked away perturbed , I heard u gave a great presentation today ...

Hum ... but you weren't there ...

He noticed ! , why was she feeling happy If he did

She restained herself from replying ...

Kahin tum un gundon se ladne to nahi gayin thein ...?

She turned to look at him he was smiling , his eyes were smiling too , he looked so good , a pang went through her ...

She turned away pretending to be angry .Why take things further when they had no future

A few minutes later he was called away by his friends and she watched him enjoy himself with them from afar !

part 8 Day 6 A day of realisations and confessions

it was a sickness that refused to go away making her feel immobile and zombie like and it was not the hangover.

Nikki was up late ...all that Was playing in her mind was ABHI ... his smirks,his eyes, histouch, his face was haunting her day n night..

She could not take this unease any more , this confusion this frustration ,Determined she got up from her bed and walked out to look for him , a foreboding of whats gonna happen drumming in her heart ...

And then she spotted him in the corridor , he was with that girl in the corridor ...

That girl who she had seen roaming around abhi ... sheena' was saying

" go to hell no girl can like you anyways you are too unfeeling and stiff for love anyway no girl would waste her time on you

Nikki was close enough and heard it all.

Abhi stood disturbed and shaking , hurt ...everything slipping away ... Nikki saw him so vunerable and she was confused , Abhi had most of the times been brushing away this girl and certainly had no interest in her , so why should her words bother him so much ?

She saw him walk away from that place and she went after him " Abhi ruko .." this is the first time she has called him abhi

"kya hai Dr nikita " his expression was cold but she knew he was hurting

"Abhi what that girl said ..."

" haan you wanna reinforce that ..Yes I am uncapable of being loved that's why RIdzi left me ... no girl can want me ... I get it ..." he thundered at her ...

His seething rage was too much for her .. she ran away to her room ,her head spinning and tears falling uncontrollably ...she had seen him in all his moods angry , arrogant, caring , helping, funny ...

No girl can want me he had said , that was not true

" I want you ...Abhi ...I want you ..."

Abhi was sitting on the sea side staring into the sea when he felt someone approach

Kyun aaye ho Nikki ... he said without even turning .

His denemour was cold, threatening to shut her up, warning her not to come close or get vunerable in front of him but it had an opposite effect on her ..challenges always brought out the strong and bold person in side her , putting aside all her doubts and insecurities she said

" I want you Abhi ... I want you !" and then realising what she had done . she ran from there .

She ran to her room locked it and slid on her knees. how had it happened ? she had known him only 5 days and she had taken such a bold step ...she knew he was a tough guy to be around moody and angry ...yes she had trusted her heart to blurt out to him what she wouldn't have said to him in a million years if had he been persuing her...here she did not even know what he felt ...she had know him him 5 and a half days and she had said the biggest truth of her life to him, something she hadnt even admit to herself as it had the potential to break her heart , to cause her hurt ...how much did she know him ... she went into panic!

At dinner Nikki was jittery suffering the after effects of foot in the mouth disease that she had. She saw him from the corner of her eye and felt him come near her and started fidgeting with her hands , she finaly looked up to him , something trembling inside her ...he looked at her ...and she looked back ..his eyes were vunerable ... it hit her in her guts ...this expression ...was it for her ? ...

" Nikki ...who jo tumne kaha tha ..."

"pagal ho gayi thi main ... she said scared

pagal to tum hamesha se thi ...but did u mean it ?

Was he calling her mad ? Fight came back to her

Yes(defiant) ...I did

Abhi : are you sure?

Nikki : well as u must know as a doctor I am crazy ...but not a liar ... so the answer remains she said gulping and then raising her head in defiance.

She loved the play of emotions on his face ...oh God these emotions on this hard man's face just for her ...she felt so special ...escatic ...she was crazy with happiness ...did she just see him blush ...did he just lower his eyelashes feeling hesitant and shy ... She had this power over him ? ..she could make him do this for her? She was reeling with emotions now.

Abhi :" meet me outside in 15 minutes ..by the beach ..he said and left

She went to meet him , her legs were jelly . He was staring at the beach , on her approach he turned...the vulnerability on his face again hit her hard ..were these two different people ...was he the same person she had met 6 days ago

"Nikki ..." his raspy voice broke he reverie

...jo tumne kaha ...

Nikki : haaan...she felt nevous shy yet her words remained bold

Abhi : do you ...can you ..."

Nikki " haan ... I mean ..jo bhi tum poochna chahte ho ...the answer is yes...

" oh Nikki ...main ...he moved towards her , his hand moved towards her face and she felt herself go crazy. Shyly his other hand rested on her arm ... a noise disturbed them and they turned around..abhi grabbed her hand..." come with me ..." it felt strange holding his hand ..they walked towards the adjoining resort ...took a table ...feeling shy yet right.

They were shy as they read the menu card and nervous when they orderd food ..Abhi orderd some wine ...relaxing over wine they shared a bit about their lives...he was just like any other boy ,,,shy sweet vunerable loving and caring ...all the anger was his way of dealing with life

With Nikki for the first time in his life he felt like a boy ..relaxed and himself ..no demons to fight .

At 3 he dropped her to her room.

Day 7

Next morning Nikki is up early and starts to feel anxious ... No call no message ... no flowers ...was it all a dream ? Of course she was up early and it was silly to expect him to come to her so early but doubt was ravaging her mind , what if he thought it was all a mistake, what if he decided he wanted noting to do with a junior doctor like her ?... after nervously thinking for 20 mins she decided to be bold and take things in her hands and went to his room

When he asnswered the ring at the door he was a bit surmised to see her , she smiled seeing him in casuals..he looked so young.

Come in nikki ..tea ? both sit down nikki started fidgeting with her hands again.

abhi looked up and smiled handing her cup ...

Nikki drank tentatively but thought ... why dsnt he say something

Abhi " Nikki im going back tonight " the insecurityhit her in her abdmen , her fears were oming true , he thought her not good enough , he didn't care , he ... she looked up ready to face whatever came her way .

She saw nothing but vunerability in his face , this was Abhi from yesterday night , the Moody boss from the airport was long gone . He smiled at her shy himself " I..i will call you when u get there ...mujhse milne aaogi naa,,?" he asked shyly ..unsure

He was feeling just as she was ...

Yes she nodded happily

Kab ?

Kal sunday hai ... kal aaungi

Maybe she had shown too much enthusiasm , she felt nervous and shy again

. Abhi teases her " u used to shout abt everywhere ..why so quiet ...?

Nikki feels shy , fidgeting ... Abhi ..dont tease me ...

Abhi looks at her ,come here he says in a firm tone , shy yet eager she comes near him , Abhi felt a sudden surge of power , so he had this power over her ? this untameable spitfire ? he held her chin ... And lifts it ... her eyes lowered... From a firebrand to this shivering damsel ... She had the power to drive him crazy ... with annoyance and tenderness that he felt for her ..

"Nikki ..you are bful..." his voice sounded close enough and she just could bring herself up to opne her eyes . Swallowing.. he bended close and Nikkis heart hammered in her chest ... and then she felt his kiss on her cheeks ...

Nikki sighed, for the formidable guy that he was there were a few things she could teach him well !

Nikki notices Armaan sitting gloomy , she loved him inspite of everything Abhi had said abt him but this was the time she put him down a few notches else he cld be v irritating , Kya hua armaan , she left me Nikki she was already engaged to a tycoon , kuch nahi hota armaan ther's more fish in the sea ... I mean u have always ben a dude , So tell me Arman abt ur time in sanjeevani how many girls ran after u...

was ther someone called Riddzy in ur intern batch ..

riddzy ?? I dnt kwo ... oh u mean ridhima .. that psycho , somehow nikki didn't like abhi's ex being called that ..by armaan ..abhi had liked her at one time and if she deserved his liking she sure deserved NIKKI's respect.

Yes Armaan , why are you calling her that

well Nikki there was this girl , in my first few months of internship .. she was a senior Dr , she used to work with Dr Moody , she was Teacher types always lecturing us about being nice and disciplined, she was a daddy's girl ... one day I realised she had fallen for me ...

Phir kya hua armaan...

I don't know Nikki she left the hospital after some time.

Nikki felt angry at armaan ...but he lifted puppy eyes to her

"sweety ,if a grown up girl thought that she was the one' jiske baad armaan wld mend his ways...

Nikki felt very angry and frustrated she loved armaan but seriously .. there were people like Armaan in the world to whom love meant nothing ... his easy going attitude and greek God looks had hurt a million hearts , it was funny to hear abt the crazy girls who ran after him but he did not know the pain love brought to a person , he had unknowingly hurt Riddhim and Abhi ... and there was no justice in the world because he went about his life as carelessly as ever ... she felt bad for than unknown girl , she felt bad for the hurt Abhi went through ..but suddenly she cheered ... it was all thanks to Armaan !, it was all thanks to Armaan that rIDhima was not in Abhi's life and he was free to be hers , Armaan had unknowingy helped her , all the pain was past and the truth was Abhi was now in HER life and not married to sweet little Ridhimma. ( but if abhi expected her , Nikki to be like his sweet ridhimma he was mistaken , she wasn't ridhima , she was nikki , naughty crazy , bashful ... and if he expected anything else , any change ... he could ..he could ...)

Suddenly she felt joyful and her spirit soared , one day Armaan would have his comeuppance ... But for now ...this was the best revenge she could take on him ..." Armaaan ... I m dating Dr Modi ..."

The shock on his face evened out some of the hurt he had caused her Abhi !
