"Virat I have to go," Manvi said suddenly pulling away from him.

Virat looked at her looking surprised at her sudden change of heart.

"But why, you were going to tell me what happened, why did you change your mind," Virat asked. "Did I do something wrong."

"No Virat, you didn't do anything wrong, it's just, It's just too late Virat,"Manvi said.

"Too late for what Manvi," Virat asked.

"What's done is done Virat there's no going back now." Manvi said.

"You're not making any sense Manvi, I don't understand, we are both here now, if its your parents I can talk to them, what are you afraid of." Virat asked.

"Virat I can't do this, I have to go," Manvi said again.

"No please not again, do you know how hard it's been for me these past 2 years," Virat said.

"You seem to have got along fine,"Manvi said sarcastically.

"You don't know what you're talking about Manvi," Virat said trying to hold her hand and bring her closer to him. "How can you say it's too late for us, Rahul knows that you're still in love with me, he's even given you the chance to tell your parents whatever you want."

"Virat it's not that simple, even if I never get married to Rahul or anyone for that matter, I can never be with you either. Not until your," she suddenly stopped mid-sentence.

"Not until what Manvi, tell me what you are hiding from me," Virat asked noticing her stop short.

"Virat I wish I could but," Manvi said, "please don't make it hard for me."

"Manvi what the hell are you talking about," Virat said getting angrier by the minute because of Manvi's behaviour, "just tell me."

"I can't Virat, I'm sorry I have to go, I have to talk to Rahul," she said and made her way through to the door.

"Dammit Manvi, I'm not going to let you go until you freaking tell me what the hell is going on," Virat said pulling her away from the door and pushing her against the wall.

"Virat what's gotten into you, you never used to be like this," Manvi said trying to get herself away from his hold.

"You made me like this Manvi, you left me, you broke me completely and now after all this time when I think I can get you back you're trying to leave me again." Virat said.

"Virat please if you ever loved me you would let me go," Manvi said, her words worked as she sensed his hold on her loosen.

"And if you ever loved me you'll tell me what the hell is going on, remember that we promised to tell each other everything. What happened to those promises." Virat asked still holding her against the wall their faces just inches apart. "What happened to the love that I know is still inside you." He came closer and put his lips on her neck and stareted placing soft kisses on her neck making her close her eyes at his touch. "I know you still feel it too, the passion, the love, you can't deny it, you know you want me too Manvi" bringing his lips from her neck and up to her chin finding her lips in a soft kiss.

"Please stop," Manvi whispered helplessly trying to resist the urge in her body to give in and give herself to him completely. But he didn't stop his soft kiss became more aggressive and he loosened his grip on her and moved his hands, caressing her hands with his fingers. He brought one hand over her hair, entwining his finger in her beautiful soft hair, while his other hand felt his way under her blouse and touched the soft skin of on her waist.

Manvi couldn't resist any longer, she shivered at his touch. But then she remembered her family and the promises she had made to herself.

"I said NO". Manvi shouted and pushed him away.

"Why are you pushing me away," Virat asked surprised by her suddenly outburst.

"I can't do this, it's not right." Manvi said.

"You're not making any sense Manvi, why don't you just tell me what's going on." Virat said.

"What's going on is that I almost lost everything because of you, I can't be selfish." Manvi said, "Virat I'm sorry but it's for the best,"

"How can it be for the best Manvi, we both know we love each other, so why is it that we can't be together. "Virat asked.

"Sometimes love is just not enough Virat," Manvi said softly, "the past is best left as it is, it wasn't our time Virat, I have to go, please don't try to stop me."

"I can't let you go, not until I find out what you're hiding." Virat said holding the door so that Manvi couldn't open it.

"I don't want to open up the past," Manvi said. "It doesn't affect us only."

"What the hell are you talking, stop going around in circles, I think I deserve that much don't I," he said looking at her pleading with his eyes.

"Try to understand Virat it's not all about us," she said.

"Urgh !! What the hell, why are you talking in riddles, what is all this," he said starting to get angry again.

"If you had asked me two years ago what happened, I may have, but now is a different story, I'm not the same person I was and neither are you." She said.

"We're back again to that, let me ask you, if you didn't want to leave me why the hell did you make that call. You're the one who told me to leave you alone and now you're freaking blaming me for not questioning you. Were you testing me, is it because I failed your test then you're not willing to give in now. I don't understand anything." He said.

"And I don't expect you to, just let me go, please," she said taking his arm away from the door. He knew this was not a battle he could win. He didn't know what she was hiding or why she was hiding it but he loved her and couldn't bear to see her hurting even after trying to hate her for all this time.

"Manvi, please," Virat said softly, she looked back at him once more and opened the door and was gone.

"Manvi," Virat whispered, she was gone again, "why," as tears welled up in his eyes.

"I'm sorry Virat, I know what you're going through but I can't be selfish and give into my feelings," Manvi thought as she closed the door behind her.

"I want to tell you everything Virat but its easier for you if you don't know." Manvi thought to herself. "I have to speak to Rahul."

"Rahul," Manvi knocked on his room door where they were staying.

"Manvi, I don't want to see you right now," Rahul said from inside the room.

"Please Rahul," Manvi knocked again, the door opened,

"I don't want to create a scene here," Rahul said as he opened the door. "I don't want an explanation Manvi I've always known that you never forgot about him even when I asked you to marry me. I know you only said yes just to make your parents happy, but Manvi why are you lying to yourself you're never going to love me the way you love Virat."

"Rahul, do you believe me when I said that nothing happened between us." Manvi asked,

"It doesn't matter even if I believe you, you'll never truly be mine and it became more clearer to me today." Rahul said.

"Didn't you once say that you'll love me enough for the both of us," Manvi asked. "I asked for time Rahul, and you promised me you'll give it."

"Manvi, that was before Virat came back into your life again." Rahul said.

"It doesn't make a difference Rahul, you know that he and I can never be together." Manvi said sadly.

"Manvi, I was your friend before I became your fianc, and because of that I want you to seriously think about this," Rahul said.

"I can't, I hurt my parents, I almost lost my dad because of it," Manvi said.

"Did you tell him what happened,"Rahul asked.

"Do you think he would have let me go if he knew." Manvi said.

"It's your choice Manvi but don't you think fate has given you a second chance with Virat." Rahul asked.

"It's more like fate is playing a painful game with me. I was finally trying to let go and he's back again." Manvi said.

"We've a few days more in Melbourne before we get back to India. You still have time Manvi," Rahul said.

"No, nothing's changed. I made my choice a long time back and it's not going to change." Manvi said.

"Manvi don't you think he has a right to know as well." Rahul asked. "It's not fair that you're keeping him in the dark."

"I would have told the Virat I knew two years ago but the Virat I see now is completely changed, he doesn't know the meaning of reasoning. He's not going to try to understand anything. He blows a fuse for the slightest thing and he was never like that, I guess it's my fault too. He had to deal with me being gone and he built a wall around him, making himself immune to all the hurt and pain around him."Manvi said.

"It's your choice Manvi but I hope you know what you're doing. You might regret it later." Rahul says.

"There's nothing more to think about,"Manvi said and then taking his hand in hers asked, "Are we ok,"

"I just got upset Manvi because you didn't tell me who he was when we met him, and when I saw you in his apartment," Rahul said his thoughts wondering and remembering what he saw in the morning. "Let's not think about it now, I'm meeting a friend in a bit do you want to come with me."

"As long as you're not meeting Maya," Manvi said jokingly.

"No she was quite upset after this morning," Rahul said and laughed and said "no it's not her; it's a guy so no chance of his girlfriend being Virat,"

"Virat don't you think you've had enough now," Karan said.

Virat had been drowning his sorrows since afternoon.

"I thought it was worse when I thought she didn't love me, but now I know that she still loves me but doesn't want to be with me." Virat said. "Apparently love is not enough. What kind of reason is that Karan. Just because I didn't fight for her and try to find out what happened back then we've missed our chance."

"Love is not enough, what's that supposed to mean," Karan asked.

"I don't know she's freaking confused and confusing me. She wants to marry a guy she doesn't even love, she's lost it completely." Virat said pouring himself another drink.

"Ok man we need to get you home, I think you've had enough for today." Karan said taking away Virat's glass from him.

"Please Karan just let me be, you know what she said, she said I never loved her," Virat said hoarsely. "How could she even say that, you know how much I was hurt after she left me, why did she say that Karan, she said I should have understood her back then, she didn't trust me with her problem then and nothing's changed, she's the one who didn't trust me but I'm the one who didn't love her. What kind of bullshit is that? Don't you think if she loved and trusted me completely she would have told me everything in the first place rather than testing me to see if I'll come after her. These women, they are so hard to understand, they say one thing but mean a totally different thing. How are we supposed to know? I don't have the power to read her mind."

"Maybe we both should have listened to Ria, she said there must be something else going on, but I didn't want to listen to her, I thought all girls were alike and I didn't make you listen to her either," Karan said, "maybe if I had supported Ria then things would have been different."

"Do you think Ria knew what was going on, maybe that's why she said that." Virat said quickly fumbling in his pockets to find his phone. He finally found it and dialled Ria's number.

"Ria did you know what Manvi was hiding," Virat asked as soon as she picked up from the other end.

"Virat have you been drinking," Ria asked.

"Ria that is not what I asked you. Why is it that all you women never answer the question when we ask them. I mean how hard is it to answer a question. All that question required was a yes or a no. But no they have to ask you another question rather than answer your question." Virat said and Karan grabbed the phone from him.

"He's had a bit too much Ria," Karan said.

"What happened," Ria asked.

"Manvi," Karan said, "apparently there's a reason behind her staying away but won't tell Virat now because she claims it's too late."

"What, I told you that there has to be something else going on but neither of you were willing to listen to me." Ria said.

"Please Ria, don't start with your lecture now, Virat just wanted to know if you knew anything about what happened." Karan said.

"Did you think if I knew anything I would have let the two of you not listen to me? I would have somehow gotten him to listen." Ria said. "And you know now I wish I hadn't stopped because none if this,"

"Ok Ria that's all we wanted to know, I've been trying to get Virat back to his place and I've enough to deal right now with him so I really can't start with you." Karan said cutting her short.

"I'm sorry Karan I didn't mean to go all preacher on you, call me when you get him home take care of him, he's probably a mess right now." Ria said and hung up.

"Come on Virat, let's go home." Karan said.

"I can't live without her Karan, please bring her back," Virat said tears welling up in his eyes. "she's my life I want her, please Karan."

"Come on man, I'll talk to her, but we have to get you home," Karan said and putting Virat's arm around his and tried to take him out of the club. Virat's feet were almost dragging on the floor, even though Karan was a strong guy himself Virat's weight was too much for him to handle on his own.

"Wait here I'll go and get the car," Karan said as he seated Virat on a bench outside and went to bring his car as Virat was too drunk to even walk and too heavy for Karan to support all the way to the car park. Virat just nodded not really paying much attention.

"Manvi, how can you say that I don't love you," Virat thought to himself, "I know I took some time to make you mine but I loved you so much Manvi, the way your eyes light up every time you see me, the way you smile at my every word, how can you say I didn't love you,"

"Manvi" he thought and suddenly looked up to see her walking with Rahul.

"Manvi, " he said getting up to walk towards her and his steps wobbling.

"Virat," Manvi said shocked to see him in this state, "you're drunk."

"That's an understatement," Virat said he walked closer to them and almost lost his balance but managed to grab hold of a pole and balance himself.

"Virat," Rahul said trying to catch him.

"Don't touch me," Virat said getting furious as Rahul tried to hold him,he grabbed Rahul by the collar and said, "She's mine, how dare you even try to get close to her."

"Virat please calm down," Manvi said trying to break Rahul free from Virat's hold.

"Virat, you don't know what you are talking about man," Rahul said trying to break free from Virat's grip, but even in such a drunken state, Virat overpowered him.

But Virat only got angrier and pushed Rahul and pinned him against the side wall.

"What is with him Manvi, what does he have that I don't," Virat said.

"Manvi, just tell him, he deserves to know," Rahul said.

"You know what she's hiding,"Virat said tightening his grip on Rahul, "You told him and didn't think I was worth even that much."

"Virat please stop this, you're not like this, don't hurt him," Manvi cried.

"Him, you're worried about him," Virat said still holding Rahul by the collar.

"Virat, what are you doing man," Karan came up running seeing the commotion going on and tried to get Virat to let Rahul go but that only made his grip tighter on him.

"Virat let him go, you're mad at me don't take it out on him." Manvi said trying to pull his hands away.

"No Manvi, he's the reason that I can't be with you, he took you away from him." Virat said jerking her hands, he was too forceful and she lost her balance and fell to the ground.

"Manvi," Virat said finally letting go of Rahul after seeing her fall.

"Don't touch me Virat," Manvi said and let Rahul help her up to her feet.

"Manvi, I didn't mean to hurt you," Virat said trying to get close to her but Manvi stepped back.

"Look Virat, I didn't take her away from you." Rahul said. "there's more "but Manvi stopped him.

"Let's go Rahul," Manvi said, "I don't have to tell anything to someone like him,"

"Manvi please tell me what I did, don't I deserve that much," Virat said.

"I thought I was being unfair before but not anymore," Manvi said, "I don't even recognise you anymore, come on Rahul, let's get out of here." and walked away leaving Virat feeling.

"Manvi, please," Virat called out and fell to his knees, "I love you Manvi."

"Come on Virat, let's go," Karan said trying to get Virat back on his feet.

"Let me go Karan, did you see that, how can she just walk away from me," Virat said not wanting to move.

"Let's go Virat," Karan said forcefully pulling him up,

"I want her Karan, please bring her back," Virat said as Karan put Virat in to the back seat of his car and drove him back to Virat's apartment.

By the time Karan got to Virat's apartment, Virat had passed out,

"Shit, God help my back," Karan thought as he put Virat's arm on his shoulder and carried him up the building in to the lift and in to Virat's apartment.

As Karan got Virat to his bed Virat was unconsciously repeating Manvi's name,

"I'm going to have to do something," Karan thought to himself.

He made sure that Virat was fast asleep and decided to meet Manvi back at her hotel.

"We really need to go back Rahul," Manvi said.

"I called the airline office and changed out tickets our flight leaves tomorrow morning at 10," Rahul said.

"I'm really sorry about all this Rahul," Manvi said, "I had no idea that I would cause so much of trouble."

"Don't be sorry Manvi, I just don't understand why you are trying to hide all this from him," Rahul asked.

"I never wanted to at first, but I know that it was for the best that he didn't come to Mumbai looking for me two years ago, he would be so devastated if he found out the real reason behind all this mess," Manvi said.

Just then there was a knock on the door, "I'll get it," Rahul said, and went to open the door.

"Hi, I'm Karan," the person at the door said as soon as Rahul opened the door.

"Karan, what are you doing here," Manvi said as she rushed to the door, "Is Virat alright."

"He's fine Manvi, but can I please talk to you for a few minutes," Karan asked.

"I can't Karan, we're leaving tomorrow and I have so much to do," Manvi said.

"But Manvi, it's important; please I'm asking you for some time as your friend, not as Virat's friend, you did consider me a friend didn't you." Karan asked.

"I'll go and my things packed up," Rahul said looking at Manvi and giving her an encouraging look to talk to Karan.

"What do you want to talk about Karan," Manvi asked as Karan stepped in to the room.

"It's pretty obvious that you're still in love with Virat, but what we are all confused about is why the whole mystery behind your breakup. Did Virat do something wrong? He's utterly confused as to why you don't trust him with your problems." Karan said.

"Because if I open up to him now, so many people are going to be affected," Manvi said.

"What do you mean Manvi," Karan asked.

"There's history that I don't want coming out," Manvi said, "history that will affect his family as well as mine. That's all I can say Karan, now you really have to go,"

"But Manvi," Karan said.

"Please Karan," Manvi said opening the door for him but as he turned around, "Karan, please take care of him."

Karan just nodded and left.

"My head," Virat thought as he got up the next morning.

"Good morning sunshine," Karan joked.

"What time is it," Virat asked.

"Almost 8," Karan said.

"I have to see Manvi," Virat said as he rushed to take a shower.

Virat was putting on a clean shirt when Karan said, "Maybe you should drop it Virat, it's obvious that she wants to be left alone."

"No Karan, I'm not going to the same mistake twice, I'm going to go after her and make her tell me what's going on," Virat said.

"She's leaving," Karan said softly.

"What, what do you mean," Virat asked.

"She's going back to Mumbai, her flight leaves at 10," Karan said.

Virat quickly looked at his watch it was almost 8.30, "What the hell, why didn't you tell me earlier he said as he picked his car keys and ran out the door to get to the airport.

"I'm coming with you," Karan said as he raced behind Virat.

"I can't believe you waited all this while to tell me," Virat said as he drove his car to the airport. "I hope I'll catch her before she gets on that plane."

Within about half an hour Virat and Karan got to the airport and they rushed to the check- in counters to find which gate the flight was leaving.

"Shit, the flights already boarding," Virat said as he was looking up at the departure board. "Gate 6," he muttered and ran to find the gate, as soon as he reached at it he saw Manvi and Rahul showing their boarding passes at the gate.

"Manvi," Virat shouted while running, she looked around but didn't stop and went inside.

"Manvi," Virat said again as he tried to make his way through the gate.

"Can I see your pass sir," The guard said.

"Listen I just want to talk to that girl who just went inside." Virat said.

"I'm sorry sir, only those with boarding passes can go beyond this point," the guard said.

"But I have to go," Virat said getting more aggressive.

"I'm sorry sir, I'm going to have to call security to escort you out of the premises if you do not leave." The guard said.

"Come on Virat, she's gone," Karan said trying to pull Virat away from the gate.

"Damn it Karan," Virat said pushing Karan aside, "this is all your fault why the hell didn't you tell me sooner, I have to go after her."
