Seven Nights of Hell
Day 1:
When Hell Broke Loose...Again
I mean I could have gone to pick her up at the airport... but I had to clean the house? Do work?
Uggh...
Why did I even bother to make an excuse?
I didn't go to pick her up at the airport because I didn't want to be with her longer than I had to. It was already enough having her over for an entire week. I should have just said no from the start when I got that text from mom. Of all the people in the world, my mom HAD to be best friends with her mom and of all the places in the world, Sharon's fashion show HAD to be relocated to Delhi.
I bit my nails in anticipation. It was awkward enough getting through college and constantly getting teased and embarrassed about your personal fangirl. And I couldn't even be mean to her cause of mom's friendship with aunty. Why didn't she just get that I didn't like her that way!
Uggh...
Now I bet as soon as she walks through that door, I'll be showered with the same unwanted "Swayu Baby!!!" followed by the aunty-ji style hugs and kisses. With an extremely important meeting with my clients this week, I really don't need this right now.
I heard someone pull into the driveway. I peeked through the curtains and saw that the taxi had arrived.
God damnit.
And as always, I couldn't be mean. But that didn't mean I couldn't be indifferent as usual, now did it?
I unlocked the front door and rushed over to the living room, nestled myself in a couch, and pretended to be engrossed in whatever show was playing. If she needs to stay here, she can carry her own bags. I was not going to put this idiotic faade of "mehmaan nawazi".
I heard the door click open. I could hear her grunt as she pulled the bag through the door. I heard her footsteps getting louder and then they stopped.
"Um... Is anyone home?"
This is it. Hell was about to break loose... again. I prepared myself for the hugs and kisses.
"Uh... yeah I'm in the living room. Sorry didn't know you'd get here so soon," I lied as I walked towards the front door with my eyes fixed on the ground as I pretended to fix my hair.
I closed my eyes in preparation for the first "Swayu Baby,"
"Um... Where can I put my stuff?"
Is this real life? Did she just... Oh my gosh no "Swayu Baby"? Thank the sweet lord!
I finally looked up from the ground to answer but stopped as I took a moment to realize that this was really Sharon.
The Sharon with oiled pigtails and ridiculous pink shorts, the Swayu-Baby fangirl? I mean I'd be lying if I said she didn't look hot. Her loose waves hugged her face and her fashion sense definitely improved.
I guess women are also like wine... they get better with age.
I guess I forgot that at the end of the day, she was also a woman.
This doesn't mean that I'm not scared of her inner fangirl breaking out though.
I maintained my distance and helped her with her bag out of courtesy, the least she deserved for bearing with my lack of hospitality. It's upstairs, right across the hall from the bathroom I pointed after I helped her get the bag up the stairs.
"Thanks," she merely said. And then she rolled her bag over to the room and closed the door.
I stood there confused for a second.
"What... was... that?"
No complimenting me on how handsome I am or how good I am at everything? No compliments for my "strong muscles" for helping her with her bag? No declarations of how much she loved me?
I was shocked. Not that I wanted all of this, I was just expecting it because I mean, that was just how she's always been.
I could only hope that time also matured her as a person and she grew out of that obsessive crush. And trust me I'd be the happiest person in the world if that happened.
But I don't know it was just hard to digest. What if she's just pranking me by acting normal and plotting to attack me when I'm sleeping?
*Lock the door before bed-Mental Note Taken*
Or maybe I'm just acting a bit paranoid here.
I don't know why but in the next 30 seconds I found myself outside her room knocking.
What? Why the hell did I do that? What am I supposed to say? I didn't have a question! Gosh why the hell am I getting so paranoid? Should I just leave before she takes it the wrong way? No it's too late for that I already knocked! Sometimes my brain doesn't work--thanks a lot Einstein!
"Just a sec," I heard her from the far end of the room. I went to leaned on the door with an arm and of course with my luck that was right when she opened it.
I moved back immediately.
"Yes?"
Holy mother of god. Why was she in a towel?
I knew something was going to happen. She's going to seduce me isn't she? I knew this was a bad idea from the start!
I was in the middle of my paranoia when I noticed she was waiting for an answer.
"I... Um... Oh! I wanted to ask if you had dinner or if I should..."
"No that's fine," she cut me off, "I mean actually I had dinner on the plane, but thanks anyways," she replied.
"Oh... Okay alright then, have a good night." I smiled and turned around for the staircase confused with her calm and normal reply. Nothing seductive, no failed bed eyes, dropping of the towel. Nothing.
It almost seemed too good to be true.
"Wait, um..." I heard her call out.
I knew it. It WAS too good to be true.
I prepared a speech in my mind like the "good old" college days. Point 1: You're a really nice person but I don't like you. Point 2: I will never like you. Point 3: Please stop trying.
"Yeah," I called out from the staircase rehearsing my speech in my head.
"Um, I was planning to wash my hair before bed and um... my shampoo kind of spilled out in my bag so could I borrow..."
Oh...
'Um... yeah sure," I started to head up the steps when she stopped me,
"It's ok I'll get it myself, could you just tell me where it is?"
Oh... Okay then I guess?
"It's in the left cabinet in the main bathroom which is across the hall from your room. And are your clothes alright in your bag, I mean after the shampoo spilled and all?" I asked, you know trying to be a concerned host. Not that I had to, but I mean...okay well I don't know.
"Yeah, they're fine. Luckily I put all the liquids in a plastic baggy before packing it. Thanks!" She said as if asking me to go away in code.
I walked back over to the couch.
Wow. That was all so...normal?
I guess it was true, maybe Sharon Rai Prakash was actually over me.
I felt an unknown feeling in the hollow of my stomach. I'm going to assume it's relief.

So yeah, Sharon had this major crush on Swayam and didn't think twice about making it visible to everyone, which usually embarrassed Swayam because he was that simple well-rounded boy with a small group of friends that teased him for his "personal fangirl" which often led him to many episodes of embarrassment. And as much as Swayam tried to nicely explain that he wasn't interested, Sharon still pursued him.
So I mean you could guess why he was feeling so awkward about this.
What do you think, will this be 7 Nights of Hell? Just a whole new level of hell?
