CHAPTER 2

Shilpa closed the door of her room and leaned against the door. She remembered what happened today and couldn't help but smile and blush at the same time. How badly she wanted him to become hers for forever and now when it was happening she couldn't believe it. She had fallen for armaan badly but she knew he couldn't be hers because he was already in love with someone else and the pain love had caused him. She knew it would be a miracle if he still believed in love or will fall for her. She had become his best friend by know and knew that he was trying very hard to live a normal life again but she didn't knew that he had fallen for her. The thought again made her heart beam with happiness. She came towards her bed and opened the drawer of her side table. There was picture in there of him and armaan at a basket ball match……it was one of the best memories she had. Armaan had stopped playing basket ball it reminded him of one person he didn't want to remember. But shilpa knew how much he loved basket ball and good he was at it. shilpa and armaan had become friends by know so one day she asked him to play basket ball but of course he refused. She knew why he refused but she wanted him to play basket ball for fun. He had to start doing things with gave him happiness even though deep down there were memories related to ridhima with them. she had bugged him for days saying the same thing over and over again "u have to play basket ball for fun armaan…I know u love playing it" he kept refusing saying that it hurts him reminds him of ridhima but shilpa didn't cared about what caused him pain. All she was concerned was what gave him happiness. So she kept bugging him saying "how do know that….u never played basket ball after what happened…u have to give it a shot" in the end he agreed, played with her and won too. Shilpa was right it gave him happiness only and not grief. He was so happy that after defeating her he picked her up and twirled around and sid who was also present there took a picture of them. shilpa hugged the picture and closed her eyes which were full of new dreams and happiness.

Armaan sat on the bed and rubbed his temple in tension. He closed his eyes, sighed and covered her face with his hands and thought "what am I doing?...with is this gonna do to shilpa?...she needs to know the truth?" he opened his eyes and started at his face in the mirror and the memories of what happened yesterday came in his mind "no…I can't tell her at least not now…it will ruin everything" he stood up and paced for a while and then shilpa's face full of new dreams came in front of his eyes. he knew when she will came to know the truth all those dreams will be shattered and not only shilpa but it will hurt him equally to see the reflection of those broken dreams in his own eyes. "I am sorry shilpa….I am doing this to you….but I can't tell u the truth not at least now…" she was his only friend and he hated even the thought of hurting her but he didn't have any other option or at least he thought so….

Shilpa was working on some files standing by the counter when dr. naina came and stood beside her. shilpa was so engrossed in her work that she didn't noticed her starring at her. naina coughed to gather shilpa's attention and she looked at her. Naina took the files from her hand and said "what shilpa do din bad tumhari shaadi hai aur tum kam kar rahi ho" shilpa smiled and replied "han mujhe pata hai….but kam bhi zaroori hai…aur main do din pehle se chute le kar ghar main kya karoon g…" ridhima who was walking by stopped after listening to the word "shadi". Naina hit her head and replied "ohh god shilpa…kesi batein kar rahi ho…kuch rest toh karo shadi se pehle" shilpa "nai who main sooch rahi thi k shadi k bad kuch chutiyan le lun…orph…" naina "han who bhi hai…akhir honey moon pe bhi toh jana hoga na" shilpa blushed, naina giggled and ridhima's fists clenched in anger. Without thinking twice she marched up to them and started shouting "dr naina ap yahan kam karne ati hain yan phir gappe larane…jayein ja k apna kam karein…" without saying anything else naina flew away from the spot. Then she turned towards shilpa and continued " apko agar apni shadi aur honeymoon discuss karne ka itna hi shock nai na to hap apne ghar pe bethein aur shock se sara din yehi batein karti rahein…hospital ane ki apko koi zaroorat nahin hai…yeh hospital hai yahan logon ka elaj karte hain nake apna honeymoon discuss karte hain…." Ridhima stopped when she noticed sid glaring at her and walked away from there. Shilpa had tears in her eyes by then people were starring at her and some were even gossiping about her that what kinda girl she is discusses her honeymoon in a hospital while working. Shilpa felt so embarrassed and hurt that she wished the earth would open and she would fall into it. A few tears betrayed her and escaped her eyes. sid saw that and shouted everyone away and came towards shilpa. shilpa's gaze was fixed to the ground she had never felt so much humiliated in her life before. Sid was about to say something when shilpa said "excuse me" and ran away from there.

Armaan was going towards the general ward when he heard someone say "kis tarha ki larki hai….apna honeymoon discuss kar rahi thi…" second person "kaun si wali" first one "are wohi jisne aj pink shalwar kameez pehni hai" armaan at once understood who they were talking about. Shilpa was wearing that dress today he knew that. He knew shilpa would never discuss her honeymoon with anyone. She became so shy when it came to marriage topics. He walked into the cafeteria to look for her but didn't found her. He spotted naina, JP, jiggy and Yuvraj sitting there he walked upti them and asked if anyone knows where is shilpa? Everyone shook their heads and naina told him what happened and how ridhima embarrassed her so much after she left she was still listening from the corner of the wall. Armaan sighed in frustration and just then sid replied from behind "I saw her going towards the fire escape" armaan looked at her gratefully muttered a thanks and went towards the fire escape….

Shilpa was sitting on the stairs and crying badly. Ridhima was her sister how can she do that to her. ridhima didn't knew that but she did and she wanted to tell her too but how? When she hated her so much. Shilpa quickly wiped her tears when she heard the door of the fire escape open and someone sit beside her. She didn't look at him to make sure who it was. She remembered the scent of his perfume. Armaan "shilpa…u okay?" shilpa replied by nodding her head. Armaan "look at me shilpa" she looked at him and gave him a weak smile. Her eyes still had un shed tears him them. armaan looked at her for a moment and then replied "we are not even married yet and u have started lying to me…..naina told me everything" shilpa looked at him as more tears ran down her cheeks and then looked away, armaan made her look at him by turning her face towards himself by her chin. Her eyes were closed and her body was shaking due to sobs. He wiped her tears with his thumbs as he cupped her face. Armaan "look at me shilpa…" she slowly opened her eyes and looked into his and got lost in them. armaan "u have been there for me every time I needed u shilpa…now plz let me be there for u" shilpa hugged him tightly and started crying "I didn….t do …any…th…" armaan "shhh I know…" shilpa "and ev.ery…one…was talk…ing…" armaan "relax shilpa….it does not matter what people say….not plz stop crying"

Shilpa came in the locker room after successfully completing another surgery. As soon as she entered the locker room she saw everyone staring at her. shilpa looked at them confused and naina said "what did dr love do?" shilpa blushed and said :shut-up" sid chuckled and replied "arrey aisi censored batein nahin pochte" everyone started laughing and shilpa blushed even more saying "he just consoled me nothing else" naina "han han ab tum censored board ki tarha sab kuch censor karke bata rahi ho" shilpa threw a file at her and armaan entered. He gave a smile to shilpa and walked towards his locker. Naina winked at shilpa who glared at her. armaan saw her glaring at naina and asked "kya hua…why are u glaring at her" shilpa "nothing…" sid "arey sharmaoo mat shilpa….woh tumhara hone wala husband hai use kya chupana" armaan "what are u guys upto?" sid "nothing we were just asking shilpa to tell us what happened in the fire escape?" armaan "so what did she said" naina "nothing except he consoled me" armaan looked at shilpa and said "arey why didn't u tell them the truth?" shilpa looked at him confused while armaan looked at them and said "I'll tell ….we kissed….a long, deep and passionate kiss" everyone stared at him shocked while he burst out laughing. Everyone started laughing too and armaan said "u should have seen ur faces…" sid "had hai yaar…kesi batein karta hai…." armaan "kuch bhi nai…maine toh wohi kaha jot um log sunna cahte the…." Shilpa smacked him and everyone laughed even more sid "hehheh shadi se pehle hi mar…bad main kya hoga…" everyone laughed and sid said "hey we didn't gave u a party for marriage guys…why don't we go to a club today?" everyone agreed but armaan refused saying he does not feel like going. Everyone started telling him to come and then he remembered shilpa's face in the fire escape. She looked so sad…maybe she did deserve a break….he looked at her and saw her looking at him hopefully and agreed….

They entered the club and naina and yuvraj went off to dance. Of course ridhimaa was not with them so sid stayed with them while JP and jiggy hunted some girls. After half an hour sid noticed that they had been sitting quiet no one said anything. He looked at the couple sitting infront of him and saw them looking in different directions. He sighed and got off from his seat. He went towards the dj and said something in ear. The song shifted to a soft number and sid said "excuse me ladies and gentle men but this song is for soon going to married couple armaan and shilpa. Guys would u plz come on stage and have a dance. Armaan heard what sid said and asked for shilpa's hand the spot light fell on them and she gave him her hand and moved with them as they went on the stage. Armaan placed his hand on her waist and felt something inside him…something like he had never felt before. While shilpa placed her hand on his shoulder and her other hand in his hand. They started swaying on the music and after sometime shilpa was too lost in her own world to notice that everyone was staring them. She felt so happy she was in armaan's arms and soon she was gonna be Mrs. Malik. She felt at the top of the world. She wrapped her arms around him and hid her face in his chest. Armaan felt her snuggling into his chest and felt a tingling sensation. He knew shilpa had fallen for him and that too badly. He felt bad for doing what he was gonna do to her. he closed his eyes and thought "I am so sorry shilpa….I promise you I will try to be a good husband…and give you every happiness u deserve…I promise u that I will protect u and give u as much love as I could…."

Armaan opened the door of his room and threw is coat on the floor in frustration. He grabbed a bottle of vodka and sat on the couch drinking directly from the bottle not bothering to get a glass for him. He closed his eyes as he remembered about shilpa, their dance today how she hugged him, the way she was looking at him. There was so much love in her eyes. Then he remembered what happened in the fire escape she looked so innocent while crying. Why did he felt a strange feeling deep down inside when he saw her crying? It was because she is my best friend and I can't see her hurt like that. A voice in head replied but u are hurting her. armaan threw the bottle on the floor as it crashed into million pieces and the liquid spilled all over the place. He then said angrily "no I am not hurting her….I am marrying her and I have promised to myself I will take care of her…and be a good husband….she will be my responsibility." The voice in his head replied "but will u be able to keep her happy?...how long can u act like that u r madly in love with her" armaan grabbed his head and shouted "shut up…" he started standing up but fell back on the couch. He looked at the ceiling above him and replied "I am so sorry shilpa…I don't deserve ur love….I don't feel the same way for u….hope u'll forgive me…" he placed his arm above his eyes and tried to sleep as those un wanted memories started to haunt him again. A few tears ran down his cheek but later he fell into deep slumber.
