|Chapter 7|
"Dream"
Dark wasn't so bad after all. Well, at least not right now. No more did it scare her. On contrary, she felt better, with the darkness enveloping her, as she threw her hands in the air and moved her hips rhythmically. The day, she wasn't quiet excited about earlier, had surprisingly turned out to be the best one in weeks. She could kiss Armaan for this, for what he had done. She could feel the cool breeze. The roar of waves was ringing her ear drums. She knew what it was going to be, but it turned out even better. It was exhilarating, when he removed the velvet purple cover from the top of her eyes, to reveal the scene. She picked up the rest quickly, it was no rocket science. They were doing cliff diving, something Armaan had always loved and she had grown to love. The surprise here was that Armaan was letting her do that! That, in a way, seemed impossible, since Armaan was no more her best friend he used to be, but her parent after the incident.
"You ready?" She felt his gaze studying her expressions. Lets do it, she thought happily and nodded. The place was deserted, except a two or three couples wandering around. Waves clashed against the rocks, the rhythm of which was music to her ears. She leaned over to take a good look. It was breathtaking. This is the best surprise ever! Riddhima's eyes sparkled in happiness.
Soon both were ready to take their big leap. Riddhima knew they were visiting the shore when her crazy best friend told her she was going to get wet. But this was not she had expected.
"Okay, so I go first." Armaan's command broke her chain of thoughts.
Naw, that is so not happening. Riddhima stared at him at first and then retorted back.
"Haven't you heard of ladies first?" She placed her hands on her hips, looking at him warily.
"Shhh!!" Riddhima's expressions transformed into a shocked and nervous one, as he was now hardly an inch away from her, his blue eye balls boring into hers after which he directed his gaze to her lips.
"Let me take the lead for once, Basket." Though he couldn't show it, his heart was taking some really frantic beats, standing so close to her. He also knew that it was the same for her, looking into her nervous eyes. She held her breath on hearing the word-Basket. She knew that things were changing between them. It wasn't the same tone he was using that he always used, it was more intense, more powerful. It was working. Riddhima realized that she was lost.
She found her self relaxing, once Armaan distanced himself, with a huge smirk on his face. It was rather more uncomfortable, when she felt his gaze lingering on her.
"Good girl." he winked in amusement and immediately turned his back at her.
Her weak heart stopped pumping, when he was nowhere in sight. She realized that he had done it. He had jumped. Hastily she leaned over to catch a view of him. He was flying, with a cry of joy echoing in the air. Within seconds, Armaan was touching depth of sea. She looked around nervously.
"Basket! Jump!" She looked at the other side to find his body rocking to and fro along with the waves, waving at her. She smiled. She closed her eyes and spread her arms.
My starlight is listening. I'm finally flying, she thought and look the leap.
It seemed so untrue now, that she thought of it. Almost like a dream. She and Armaan after their crazy act had now landed up in a beach party. The sun had set long ago, while the girl and boy sat on the empty beach, hand in hand. It was so beautiful, as if meant to be. Riddhima while watching the setting sun, knew that the sun would rise again. It was not over. She wanted to live and was going to live.
"Ridz!?" she was pulled out of her chain of thought, when her close friend, Muskaan Chadda, snapped her fingers.
"Lost?" Muskaan raised her eyebrows at her friends puzzled expression, looking for an explanation.
"Uhh, nothing." Riddhima said, "sorry."
The music changed immediately, and it was her current favorite the DJ was playing. She rocked her body, letting her body flow with the tune.
[Song: Price Tag by Jessie J]
"You know." Riddhima didn't appreciate the disruption Muskaan had causing, but remained quiet, "someone is staring at you ever since I took you away."
Muskaan's tone startled Riddhima. She followed Muskaan's gaze to finally lock her eyes with him, Armaan. Although he was caught red handed, he did not avert his gaze. He continued watching her as she stopped doing her moves and made her way towards him.
"Hey" She smiled nervously, now not looking at him.
"Wanna go somewhere more.." Armaan completed his sentence as he found a curious Riddhima staring at him in astonishment, "private?"
He knew she wasn't going to disagree. She needed the same. Riddhima nodded. Armaan held her hand and pulled her away, while she glanced at Muskaan, who was winking at her with a thumbs up. She glared and mouthed a shut up while being pulled away.
"Where did Riddhima go?" Nikita questioned curiously, while handing Muskaan her drink.
"She's with Armaan." Muskaan softly, with a small smile on her lips. Nikita returned the smile, although she wasn't pleased. In fact, she could feel the acid running through her veins. Her blood was suddenly boiling.
Armaan is up for confession. Nikita knew what she had to do.
