| Sai Deodhar has started an acting school, Cine cole, in Pune, under the guidance of her parents, Shrabani and Debu Deodhar, and husband Shakti Anand. "I had been thinking about it for a long time.
We will start the first batch from May 19, and the school will incorporate all the basic elements that one needs, to learn acting.
Actually, Shakti was the catalyst in getting the school started. He kept asking me to take the project seriously."
Teacher, teacher
Sai and Shakti will be taking classes in the school. "The course is only on weekends, we have decided to be a part of the teaching board. Shakti and I will both teach various aspects of acting," says Sai.
Why did she choose Pune? "Pune is globally known as an education hub. Apart from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), there aren't any proper acting courses available in the city."
Camera Sai
Open to everyone between 16 and 40, the course will run for a period of two months.
"We kept it part-time. One can do it as a hobby, or even take it up on the side." Sai differentiates between theatre and acting in front of the camera. "In FTII, they have the theatre element, too, but here, we are only focussing on acting in front of the camera."
How does Shakti feel about this venture? "He's very supportive of anything I do. I am blessed with parents who come from a strong creative background, and a husband, who has made a name for himself in the industry. This school is a result of the confidence these people have in me." |
