The last para is spot on, and your take on what the Jalandhar track was and what a good mythological show should be is very well put.

Incidentally, you would have noted that the Vaikunth VVIP group is still there in full force for the Raavan track as well. In fact, I had commented on this trend in an IF post of mine as follows:

I am also curious about how the gods, and snoopers like Narada. can both see and hear everything said in every corner of the trilok, whether it is what Vrinda says to Jalandhar or what Mahadev is saying to Parvati. It is like a permanent CCTV in operation, with shades of Big Brother in 1984. The sheer lack of privacy is alarming, but no one seems to be bothered about it!

I had also voiced the distressingly irreverent opinion (on FB, not here!) that if one of the arms of either Saraswati (who spoke yesterday for only the 3 rd time that I have seen her do so, since October 2012; she obviously believes that silence is golden!😉) or Brahma would fall off, it might create some much needed animation. Of course nothing of the sort happened, alas!

And why on earth do you need to state that Jalandhar was not evil? It is a non-starter, the very idea. He was a tormented, stubborn, wrongheaded, and deeply flawed character, but he was also immensely vulnerable and emotionally shortchanged, and part of him was always the little boy of 8 dragging his mother's body behind him. That image never leaves me, nor the very last shot of Jalandhar's face as he sees his mother and Vrinda in Mahadev. As I wrote on FB:

It is the face of a lost and bewildered child, too unhappy to feel any resentment any more. A child so battered and torn, inside and outside, that he has no will and no energy left any more to fight against the tide of dharma and naitikta and shanti that is, willy nilly, engulfing him. No energy to question the logic and the coherence of what is being said to him in his dying moments by the father figure for whose caring and approval he craved.A face which will haunt me for months.

Mohit Raina seemed to have drawn on all his immense reserves of both technique and instinct to get that face, which is truly a high watermark of his craft.

Jalandhar track was hands down THE BEST track of DKDM, evoked immense interest, attracted new viewers for the show and showed what versatility MR was capable of as an actor. 👏

I don't think Jalandhar was evil. He just didn't get the right guidance. I wonder why Shukracharya janaab was silent when Jalandhar started preparing for war against Mahadev! At that time instead of guidance he'd only give constipated looks! 😡

Anyway, Jalandhar over then DKDM over for me (at least as of now). Jalandhar made it what a mythological ought to have - debates between what's right/good or wrong/bad, questions on philosophy and ethics, epic battles! Otherwise the show looked like a family soap - the only difference being that characters were devi-devtas!

Farewell message for Jalandhar fans & this celebration thread

It was a much awaited thread, a dream...a wish which has been fulfilled with God's and Mod's grace. Every moment in creation and sustenance of this thread has been exciting and touching! This thread gave me a reason for cheer even in worst times in real life so it was special to me not just for Jalandhar and MR but also for the interaction and creative efforts of fans here which was always uplifting with its infectious energy.

This was my first celebration thread on IF in 2 years that I've been here and I enjoyed every bit of it. I wish I had been able to carry out my plans for it but cirumstances prevented it, still I'll always remember this thread and the fun in it. Good luck to this thread and creators for the time being it lasts.
